Followed this team since 1965.
I so hate the organization, the Pohlad snot nosed kids (Jim and his brothers and nephew), Falvine, Rocco and the pathetic minor league development and scouting team.
Pathetic group more concerned with concession options at Target Field than fielding a team that can win a playoff game.

I'm optimistic since 1991.

Tigers dominating the Twins AGAIN.
Pathetic.

C'mon man! You will be the first one back on the bandwagon the second we clinch a playoff spot. I see through you, just like the Beatles. Peace.

Pablo can beat anyone in Game 1. Gray would get Game 2. Solid, but chokes mid-game. Fingers crossed his veteran savvy gets us a win. At this point, it would be Maeda in Game 3. Dude rarely implodes. Ober has some sort of arm issue. Keuchel is likely Game 4, and then if Game 5 is necessary, you come back with trusty Pablo Lopez. I like this team.

The Twins will play in the single elimination wild card game and lose. Worrying about 2, 3 & 4 is pointless.

Brad H -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (8/10/2023 8:52:39 AM)

Looky here, Joey Gallo ran into one. Wake me up in 10 days when he does it again so I don't have to watch the 15 k's in between.

I actually think they tried this year but their main concern has been the concession options instead of the product on the field.

According to
@FanGraphs
Pablo Lopez has been worth 3.3 WAR this season for the #MNTwins, a carrer high.

Arraez has been worth 3.2 WAR.

Again, another silly sabermetric stat

1st place, and not particularly close!

Weak division.

There is a ton of baseball that can't be measured or quantified by a stat. Sabermetrics dumbs down the game for those that don't understand it.

TJSweens -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (8/10/2023 12:02:56 PM)

I finally agree with Brad on something. WAR and any stat that ends in WAR is a worthless crap stat.

That said, I have no problem with the Arraez trade itself. We got a front of the rotation starter, who is under contract through 2027. The players who are taking Arraez's AB (Julien, Solano, Kirilloff) are doing quite well. I hate the series of Falvine failures that made it necessary, but the trade itself is working for the Twins.

Phil's latest trend is to say something doesn't fit your narrative, so you don't like it. How about, it's just fuc&in stupid.

We agree!

Everyone knows you went from picking on Lopez as the replacement for Arreaz to Gallo; it is your narrative that is easily seen on every post. Plus you ignore any mention of Julien, Lopez, and Kirilloff. To pretend otherwise is just stupid......how many Twins games have you watched this year or last? How many Marlins games have you watched this year? (You still haven't answered either question).

Oh also Wallner has been taking at bats from Gallo but injuries forced Gallo to first base (which you would know if you really follow the team).....none of my 3 sentences have to do with WAR.

TJSweens -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (8/10/2023 5:13:47 PM)

Loserville

Easily could be 6 in a row after this weekend in Philly.

Shut out in 2 of the 3 losses in a row. Horrible at bats.

It's not helping the offense that Rocco has developed an instant man crush on Luplow.

I'm a HUGE Twin fan and have been forever. Been through all the tough years and the good years.
As weak as our Division appears, I don't feel near as confident as some that we win the Division. My man Buxton and our supposed to be best all-around player Correa have been huge disappointments. We've been saddled with injuries to many of our young players and our most consistent hitter might be Jeffers. We need to get healthy and become a much more consistent lineup before I will feel good about winning the Division. I want a more than that and don't feel very confident at all.

MDK -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (8/10/2023 8:39:42 PM)

I want more than a damn divisional title in the weakest division of MLB.
Even if we get healthy, we won't win a playoff game.
But the concessions and ambiance of Target Field will be great.

Yep needed a bat or two and an arm or two.......instead praying for Buck, Stewart, Thielbar, Kirilloff, and Wallner. Health for the first 3 and Bryce Harper like emergence from the last one. Then we see what we do against a power LH and a power RH.

The Tigers will have a very good pitching staff next year if they keep Erod.......Erod, Skubal, Olsen, Manning plus they have prospects starting to play better.
They are in a way better place then CWS or KC.

Brad H -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (8/11/2023 9:42:56 AM)

Back to normal. 0-for-2 with two k's for Gallo.

According to Phil's sabermetrics, he's the best .175 hitter in baseball.

Why you are obsessing about him so much is beyond me.

Gallo is like the seventh most important player in the batting order. The Twins problem is that the most important batters like Correa and Buxton are doing absolutely nothing.

That and Rocco is a damned buffoon.

He'll have a guy like Kiriloff with two home runs and a double and pinch hit for him. That's just plain stupid. This is why I don't like the overdependence on Analytics. It's killing us. He's done shit like this several times.

This coaching staff will need a bit of a shake up this offseason. Mary Popkins needs to go.

Mister Ed -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (8/11/2023 2:42:13 PM)

Stink against the lefty last time out?

Put Castro/Luplow 1/2

ooof.

Farmer has been a major disappointment. If they didn't sign Correa he'd be the underperforming SS. Instead hes' the underperforming futility guy.

Underperforming. Should be the Twins middle name.

Mister Ed -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (8/11/2023 6:58:35 PM)

Gee Keuchel is terrible

No one saw that coming.
Absolutely no one.

Can they see if Steve Carlton is still around? Joe Niekro?

Shades of 87
