Besides they’d set a record
Highly unlikely an organization has ever had 2 guys make the bigs with the last name of Funderburk

Winder is set for weekly usage. Would also be interesting to change that to a couple of times a week and see how he handles it.

He saved their hide Thursday

Mister Ed -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (8/25/2023 2:45:28 PM)

Correa has upped his OPS over 700 in the past few weeks

Baby steps

Mister Ed -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (8/25/2023 2:46:39 PM)

History repeats itself
Arraez falling off a cliff in the second half
Too bad

Mister Ed -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (8/25/2023 2:51:07 PM)

Correa has reached base in 15 straight

9 walks
10 strikeouts in that stretch
17 hits

Getting cold at the wrong time.

And Brad's frequent comparisons to the wrong Twins players has abated considerably since the precipitous fall began.

Correa has a cannon.

This place is sure much more interesting when we lose.

A dumpster fire is more interesting than a campfire.

I am not suggesting this, but is anyone interested in locking up Royce Lewis NOW with a proactive Braves/Rays kind of move?

I love Lewis' game and attitude. He has everything he needs to be a star player. The only problem I have with locking him up like that is that he is proving to be as injury prone as Buxton, so far. He just got back from a 6 week stint on the IL and that's on the heels of back to back ACL surgeries.

I know one can come off as a nerd quoting Ted but these two games pissed me off. Come on, man!

Imagine if the #MNTwins won both of the games they should have against the #Brewers.

This team can make noise.

Mister Ed -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (8/26/2023 10:07:20 AM)

Twins are averaging over 5 runs a game in the second half

Is it Popkins?

more likely it's less Buxton and Gallo, and more Julien/Wallner and other kids in the lineup.

How many games has Rocco's decisions followed by expected/realized poor pitching results cost the Twins in his managerial career. Unreal.

Mister Ed -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (8/26/2023 10:36:18 AM)

Ryan off the IL after one start, with Balazovic to St. Paul again
Ober scheduled for tomorrow, so the Twisn are at least partly trying to hide Keuchel in this series.

Reports are he's worked shorter bullpen sessions to begin acclimating to relief. Wheee
Pitch to impact with a pretty high walk rate.
Moran Senior.

Umpire Carlos Torres missed 4 calls in the first 3 innings and they all went against the #Twins.

Then, he ejected Joey Gallo for arguing and followed that with a very soft Rocco Baldelli ejection.

Torres missed another 8 calls and 7 went against the Twins.

- I thought Jax was getting hosed pretty good v TX #1 but it turned out all right.
- seriously though, how can you get to this level and not do better than some of these people we see out here behind the plate?

Gallo’s strike 2 in that at bat was the worst I’ve seen. It was at least a foot high. I mean, Joey will strike out anyway so why embarrass yourself?

This is now being reported:
https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/twins-byron-buxton-still-lacks-clear-return-timeline/
Minnesota Twins designated hitter Byron Buxton was seen shagging fly balls in center field during Friday's batting practice at Target Field. The good news is that the sight of the 29-year-old in the outfield reinforces last week's report that the Twins may finally allow Buxton to participate defensively upon his return. The tricky part of this equation, however, is that Buxton still needs a rehab assignment before coming back, but that is still not "imminent".

Will this be another season where he ends up just getting shut down? Last week he sounded optimistic and now a week later it is back to a return "not imminent"

IF everything has to be just right......[&o]

He'll never be in the outfield

Completely different mindset

He had the plantar fasciitis that Correa is playing through he'd have shut down immediately.

bstinger -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (8/26/2023 6:42:57 PM)

I don't think I've ever seen a SS make a cutoff throw from behind 1st, but Correa did and gunned down the runner at home.

Watched the replay a couple of times. Dang.

Thielbar give up a dinger. Sigh

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (8/26/2023 8:41:59 PM)

Jax shook off the catcher’s call twice. Then threw a slider ball 4 to walk in the lead run. Oof.

Edit: and walked the next guy for good measure.

bstinger -> RE: Twins 2023 Season and Game Day Thread (8/26/2023 8:49:20 PM)

Massive choke job by Jax.
