KFC needs to play for a coach like Chili, a coach who demands his QB not deviate from the called plays.

Until you know the future it’s hard to know whether to take the reins or not. What a great title for a leadership book. A best-seller in the bizarro world.

Omg. Also look at the interior d line analysis

Viking d lineman just littered in the bottom quandrant
Wonnum, Jones, Lowry in a tier of their own. Even Phillips in bottom of the league

Confirms what I said Sunday. Vikings have worst dline by a mile

They are so devoid of talent best case 2 year fix

https://x.com/pff_moo/status/1706711602718761150?s=46&t=VV8Voz0Rov_nntUSULfRkA

At least two years, in part because of the delay in year one of Kwesi's regime. And although he is operating on a shoestring budget, he has not brought in a single difference maker. The overall talent on D is probably less than last year. Looking at this year's acquisitions/starters:

Worse
Tonga or whoever < Tomlinson
Lowry < Bullard or whoever (or a wash)
Davenport < Za
Murphy < Peterson (PP had a Keenum type year)
Blackmon < Shelley (although Blackmon is just a rookie)

Better
Pace > Kendricks (esp late season Kendricks)

Cine is still Cine
Booth is still Booth

Pure cowardice from our leader.

It's pretty bad when Cine and Booth make Treadwell look like a home run pick.

Reid didn't win until he got Mahomes but he made it there plenty.

Before Mahomes he got there just once.

And that team had still good McNabb and Terrell Owens.

Look at how many AFC & NFC Championships he made---4 NFC Championships in a row to go with the 2 Super Bowl titles; not to mention AFC Championships.

Jalen Hurtz is better than KFC

Baker Mayfield is better than KFC

Justin Fields is better than KFC…

Jordan Love is better than KFC

Jarred Goff is better than KFC

Justin Herbert is better than KFC

Brock Purdy is better than KFC

Patrick Mahomes if a first ballot HOF, obviously better than KFC

The Philly defense is the best in the NFC.

Agree with most, but if we had a season of Justin Fields we'd be begging for Cousins back. Fields has to be one of the single biggest wastes draft capital in history.

On the heels of turd biscuit

He’s 24, not 38..

For all you know, his upside might be Jalen Hurtz

His downside might be Christian Ponder..

Right now, in those rosters and on those teams, if KFC and Justin Fields, switched teams, I doubt we’d be 0-3, but Chicago still would still be 0-3.

It’s semantics at its core because the point stands no matter what but I think it’s worth pointing out that he’s 35 and not 38. Not a big deal but in the NFL that’s a big difference.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/27/2023 9:20:10 AM)

Regarding KAM, given how much rope they gave RS, I’m scared to death of how far we’ll fall before the Wilf’s open their eyes. KAM has no track record of success and has been a disaster so far. You can make a case that his biggest hit is an undratfted, undersized, rookie LB.

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/27/2023 9:24:16 AM)

A coach and a GM should get five years. The only exceptions to that, in my opinion, would be if some sort of scandal emerged. To fire a coach or GM after just one, two, or three years makes you the Cleveland Browns.

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/27/2023 9:26:32 AM)

The composite rankings for O-line after week 3 are out. The composite takes the three most trusted sources and combines them. Vikings O-line is #4.

EDIT - CORRECTION! Those rankings are just for pass protection. #4.

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/27/2023 9:28:17 AM)

The composite for run blocking:

https://twitter.com/benbbaldwin/status/1707023366232613051/photo/1

#5

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/27/2023 9:29:39 AM)

What's the obvious takeaway from this? Our O-line is excellent and our QB and running backs don't know how to use/navigate it. We handed a high performance car to a bunch of student drivers.

Still, how is that possible? Maybe we should be we should looking at extending ED.

re: Correction. -- right, we still can't get a yard on the ground to save our soul when we need one

The scoreboard operator at US Bank is a smart person. He/she has a tendency to always play the most relevant replay/clip after plays. Last week the scoreboard operator showed the overhead view on multiple occasions after failed running plays. Why was that relevant/significant? Because it showed Mattison running straight into a tackler with a nice hole just a bit to the right or left.

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/27/2023 9:38:11 AM)

Also, in regard to "can't get a yard on the ground to save our soul when we need one". Go read through the play-by-play. We ABSOLUTELY got yards on the ground when we needed them. It's all right there for the everyone to see.

Where in this world does one get a track recordbefore he sets foot on the track? Seems to me what people are saying when they bring up track record is they want someone that's done the job before. If that's the case there must be some failure some where. And please don't tell me an asst GM counts as having experience - we've all seen how that turns out.

I'm just in for the long haul with all of it bc what the F can I do about it?

Exactly my point. Nobody can argue his past achievements and use it to say he can get this right. You have to use what he’s done, so far, and they aren’t screaming “success”.

Only time will tell. If things don't get better or even get worse then we should move on. But if things get better...

And he did draft Addison, who looks like a stud on the field (but needs to slow down on the road)

And Zero leadership, pocket awareness, game situation awareness, or mobility…

For a 12 year veteran, multi million dollar contract, “franchise” QB…

Epic fail.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/27/2023 10:02:08 AM)

Let me just type this out and please point out anything I'll certainly miss:

Signed a FB to an extension in an era that devalues them
Gave a "pretty good TE" the biggest contract at the position
Total failure, to this point, in a draft where he tried to out maneuver his contemporaries multiple times
Signed a guy with .5 sacks the year before to a pretty decent, albeit, 1 year contract. Who, BTW, had an injury history and hasn't played more than 5 downs in 3 full games
Nobody signed for next year at, arguably, the 2nd or 3rd most important position (DE)
IOL that's, at best, mediocre and hasn't been properly addressed
Talent on D has regressed badly and not been restocked to this point (you can argue the secondary is in better shape with possibilities)
QB situation is a total question mark
Best WR in the league is playing nice, now, but will he continue to without an extension and the flex situation at QB?

Seriously, these are just off the top of my head. What has he done RIGHT?

Absoutly but it scares me, given the Wilf's are overly patient, that if he's not getting better, how far will we fall? You could argue that good/bad/ugly, one of the things about this franchise is it's stability. We are stable enough to be 'decent/good' every year. That always gives us a chance to make the playoffs but we're usually not good enough to win it all. It also keeps us in playoff purgatory. Middle of the pack draft position.
