Just to strengthen what's been said about the improved OLine. NFL Live broke down how they shut Bosa out and it was not just good play, it was a really good strategy (according to them).

Really important point and shows growth on the offensive coaching. By chipping with a tight end on the right side they created two three blocker to two defender zones. Very cleaver and effective. However, it requires Darrisaw and Ingram to block one on one. Both were able to do this effectively. Can they keep it up? Hopefully so.

I have to admit that Ingram has really stepped up his game. I don't know what PFF and other overrated analytics sites say, but he is looking pretty solid on the eye test right now. I couldn't help noticing how much better the screen game looked with Cleveland out of the lineup. Lately I've noticed the receiver getting blown up, right after the recetion, by someone who blew by Cleveland.

The rest of this year should be a long tryout for Reisner. Trade Cleveland to someone who needs a swing tackle. He's always said that's where he wanted to play. Let him go and prove it. Gain a 4th or so.

For now, hold on to both of them. It would actually be nice to have depth on the offensive line for a change. That's how you build a winner...quality depth because it guaranteed that there will be injuries over a 17 game season.

I don't know why anyone would think the Vikings will dominate Green Bay.

Green Bay lost their last 3 games, the last 2 very close losses on the road, now they're coming home.

And whenever Kirk has a chance to go up 2 TDs, his throws tend to be off the mark. The Vikings don't tend to get early leads, so no blowout wins.

Love is a talented QB, who is making dumb throws at crunchttime, let's hope that continues, and the Vikings win a close game

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/26/2023 3:57:44 PM)

Ricky

If it makes you feel any better, the Packers knocked out 3 QBs in the regular season, the one year they went on to win the Super Bowl with Rodgers.

Tom Sykes -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/26/2023 4:22:00 PM)

I saw this during the game and was pissed.

Of course, before this year, it was Vikings fans doing it.

The way I see it, it doesn't matter whether I'm holding out hope for a playoff run or hoping for a high draft pick. There is no way any NFL player is going to "tank" any game for a future draft pick. They're all playing for their own future on this team or another NFL team. I wouldn't respect nor want a player on our team that didn't give everything they have to win regardless of the team's record.

I think we as fans think about future draft picks, etc., but that thought doesn't enter into the minds of the men actually playing the games. Why should it? Why would they give less than their best so that some future draft pick takes their spot on the roster?

So, the season will play out. Maybe the team goes on a run, maybe they suck the rest of the season. But, whatever "I hope" happens doesn't matter as it's all in the hands of the coaches and the players.

Is that how you think tanking works?

Kirk Cousins sent a text to Brandon Powell following Monday nights victory. The text said:

“The player you were on Monday night is the player I see you being. You separate versus man. You make plays after the catch.”

hmmm: If he sent texts to Addison and KJ as well wonder what they'd say ...

'Hey KJ - FYI I sent this to our Powell, 'The player you were on Monday night is the player I see you being. You separate versus man. You make plays after the catch. Unlike some of the other dudes not named Jefferson or Addison.'

Osborn can catch the ball when he is running a pattern within 5 degrees perpendicular to the LOS. After that it's flail city. It would help in general if KFC stopped sailing the ball.

Can you imagine Osborn (aka Osborne) trying to catch an over the shoulder fade? He'd be waving his arms all over, even before he turned.

The packers are terrible. They've been the most overrated franchise this century, and this year they are doormats.

Love is NOT a talented QB, but it's early for him.

How much to resign Daniel Hunter now?

Vikings are not that good yet it sounds like they have no cap space.

no idea how other teams do it that seem loaded with talent everywhere. I guess that's why you have to draft well.

Looking down the road, there is no way the Vikings can pay Jefferson and Addison (if he continues to look as good as he does currently). Maybe you trade one at some point.

If the Vikings have a mental "let down" against the Packers that tells me the players are mentally weak. It's not like that have a gaudy record and are coasting at the top of the division.

Why are you worried about Addison at this point? He's on his rookie deal for 5 years, if you pick up the option.

Viking are going to win too many games for a top draft pick, going to need to trade assets to move up.

If the Vikings are not going to use Kwesi's supreme intelligence and think outside the box I hope Kirk is willing to take $20 million a year. What other teams would pay Kirk more than that next season?

If Kirk takes this team to a deep playoff run or God forbid a Super Bowl championship then sure extend him. Other than that, there's no reason to extend him. To date, he's failed to win anything significant for this team.

Whatever he does; if he wants too much you have to let him go.

Ya know, i agree with that. You've made more money than you can spend. Now, do you want more or are you willing to help win a SB because we have some money issues ... that are at least in part because you have more money than you can spend.

Pregame inspirational pep talk/reminder: get out there and lose this one. Remember to make your fumbles, interceptions and missed tackles believable.

The proper tank could consist of selling misguided, overpaid, over aged players. Then evaluating your young players, in real game time, the players you failed to properly evaluate when you drafted them. You might even find a diamond in the rough, or at the very least give an opportunity for a hungry player to shine, build confidence.

Tanking isn't just trying to lose. There can be incredible opportunities that emerge with the proper tank. Who knows, maybe coaches coach better. Maybe you find out more about your own players that you barely notice now.

Moot point. The Wilf's don't give a **** about the Vikings being great. Their primary concern is profit. Sell the fans, with a complicit local media, the perpetual, competitive rebuild. Skol.

Yep. One of Kwesi's hats is that of Tank Commander. If he put on that hat, Capt. Flores may just go postal.

ronhextall -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/27/2023 9:09:11 AM)

What NFL team has benefited by tanking ? NFL is the ultimate team and organization sport. You need a lot of the right pieces in uniform, coaching, GMing, and ownership.

KC didn't tank to get Mahomes.

Everybody else is hoping what they have works. Frankly, all the other 31 teams have doubts if they are in the correct spot at this moment.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/27/2023 9:21:36 AM)

Funny how on the Gameday threads a substantial share of posters, whenever witnessing another loss, are all about 'blow it up now' and 'trade x, y, z now' and 'fire everybody'. Right Ron?!

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/27/2023 9:23:55 AM)

Actually that stuff is said before the game is even concluded, routinely in the first half, even if the Vikes come back to win.

I am fine trading Hunter, if the season is lost, the organization doesn't see him fitting into their future, and you get a nice draft pick.

I just hope Kwesi has " A Plan " and executes it.

My concerns/frustrations with the Vikings is based on being in my mid 50's and never seeing a Super Bowl win. Kwesi's view doesn't go back that far to shape his opinions. Also Kewsi's decisions are based on " keeping his job ".

Resigning Mattison to be a starting RB was a big mistake. We really need to give Chandler in particular more carries. He is the only running back we have with breakaway speed.
