One and done is based on the team's performance to date: one quality win. That does not indicate we can play with anyone. Final scores don't necessarily reflect how close or one-sided a game really was. Like Philly being up 27-7 and running it down our throats, or the 2-4 Chargers passing for close to 500 yards. Hell, hopeless Chi with some QB who could barely find his helmet was set for a win until the QB threw a pick to some guy in the stands.

And having a bunch of upcoming cupcakes won't provide useful info unless we dominate those teams. We'll see if Det can rebound from last weeks embarrassing annihilation. If they get back on track, coupled with the Bengals and division rival GB, that last month may answer a lot of questions. Until then, I'd be embarrassed to beat my chest and say the Vikings can play with anyone.

KC was a close game and the Philly game changed on JJ touchback fumble after multiple early TOs.

Big key moving forward....don't turn the ball over.

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/25/2023 11:49:47 AM)

One thing that I have mentioned about Dalvin last year and Mattison this year....they are two of the worst rated RBs for Expected EPA...in other words they are missing open running lanes/poor vision.

16. Minnesota Vikings (3-4)
(Last week: 26)

Monday: Beat San Francisco 49ers 22-17

One question: Who designs the Vikings’ turnover celebrations?

Whoever it is should get a raise. Minnesota forced three turnovers Monday night against the 49ers but got to do four celebrations because one was called back when Brock Purdy was ruled down by contact. On the first, the Vikings defenders did a limbo line using 198-pound cornerback Akayleb Evans as the limbo pole. On the second, the defenders all sat in a circle in the end zone and played duck, duck, goose. On the third one, Camryn Bynum and teammates did the worm in the end zone. On the fourth, Bynum and friends celebrated finishing off the upset.

Up next: at Green Bay Packers, Sunday, 1 p.m. ET

Clearly not a Minnesota writer...

So the Philly game changed on JJ's fumble in the SECOND QUARTER? So that was it? If not for that we would have won? [:-]

Philly still had 150 more yards to run down our throats.

With KC up by 14 points late in the 3rd, we did come back a bit.

Still a lot of concern about moving up in the draft next year as a way of improving future years around here.

I think how you root for a team has changed a lot in recent years. I'm afraid I'll get ridiculed for expressing hope for making the playoffs and winning a game, God forbid, two. If we make the playoffs why would anyone think "one and done" is automatic other than growing up with the MN disappointments to date?

There's pretty much a concession by all that we can play with anyone. If we claw back into this thing we will have done something not many teams have done. That's gotta be worth a little hope.

Id like to think we have a team and coaching staff that has a decent shot at getting better, one could hope a lot better. <shrug> Seriously, what if our OL is for real? I know too much to hope for ...

hope hope hope hope - I know, enough all ready

- Pretty cool seeing TX and AZ in the WS

I never liked the line-by-line replies to posts yet here I present one:

There should be a lot of concern. It's risky and might not work. It's also necessary if you want a shot at a true franchise QB capable of winning a/some Super Bowl(s)

If we make the playoffs why would anyone think "one and done" is automatic other than growing up with the MN disappointments to date?

There's an established history of "one and done" and we still have most of the same major players or comparable substitutes.

There's pretty much a concession by all that we can play with anyone.

There is most definitley NOT a concession or consensus by all that we can play with anyone. We did it once this season so far.

If we claw back into this thing we will have done something not many teams have done. That's gotta be worth a little hope.

There's 17 games now and more teams make the playoffs than in the past. It will only be remarkable if we clinch playoffs before week 18 and aren't one of the "extra" playoff teams.

Id like to think we have a team and coaching staff that has a decent shot at getting better, one could hope a lot better

I think the coaching staff will improve because they're so new. Young players will improve. Vets are who they are at this point although that wristband might have popped Kirk's play up considerably. Will he still panic when the season is on the line? Probably.

Seriously, what if our OL is for real?

Our O-line is outstanding. They are very much for real. They have been all season.

hope hope hope hope - I know, enough all ready

Who's stopping you? You are free to view the team in any way you wish. Everyone else it too though.

LOL, was going to capitalize NOT but didn't and it wasn't worth an edit.

Just to strengthen what's been said about the improved OLine. NFL Live broke down how they shut Bosa out and it was not just good play, it was a really good strategy (according to them).

Really important point and shows growth on the offensive coaching. By chipping with a tight end on the right side they created two three blocker to two defender zones. Very cleaver and effective. However, it requires Darrisaw and Ingram to block one on one. Both were able to do this effectively. Can they keep it up? Hopefully so.

fmaltes -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/25/2023 12:40:10 PM)

According to Statmuse, in the last 10 yrs the Vikings have 3 wins and 2 ties at Lambeau. Also, they were blown out the last two years. It is just harder to play away. On the positive, no Rogers to deal with now.

I have to admit that Ingram has really stepped up his game. I don't know what PFF and other overrated analytics sites say, but he is looking pretty solid on the eye test right now. I couldn't help noticing how much better the screen game looked with Cleveland out of the lineup. Lately I've noticed the receiver getting blown up, right after the recetion, by someone who blew by Cleveland.

Stats from the past 10 years are useless due to Rodgers.

THIS year, the packers suck. 2-4 with wins vs Chi and the 'Aints. The win over NO was by one point, after Derek Carr was injured and left the game. They are coming off a loss to Denver!

Playing them anywhere should be a cakewalk for any halfway decent team.

Aikman: "I agree, there wasn't a lot and not a big grab by Lenoir."

- - wow, Addison is completely without use of his right arm and it's not "a lot" there. I'm not sure as an active QB he'd of been ok with the no-call on that one, but I could be wrong

The rest of this year should be a long tryout for Reisner. Trade Cleveland to someone who needs a swing tackle. He's always said that's where he wanted to play. Let him go and prove it. Gain a 4th or so.

Yes it did; we would have actually had the lead at that point; right before half. Does it mean we would have won; don't know. If I remember correctly the momentum went away and with that TD we would have been ahead 14-10.

Philly was fired up with 30 some seconds left and kicked a fg; from 14-10 ahead to 13-7 behind.

The league should just stop the games once there is a momentum swing. In this case, halftime. At the very least fans wouldn't be subject to the halftime commercial-fest.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/25/2023 5:58:00 PM)

Curious if posters here go to sites of other teams and post the same nonsense. I suppose they'd be laughed off in short order, but one never knows.

This rationalization thing might be pretty cool to turn at least a couple of Vikings Super Bowl losses into victories, say vs Miami and Pittsburgh: all we needed was to control the LOS on both sides. And that could have been accomplished by one stud on either side. If those 11th rounders had panned out, we'd have some SB victories. Rumor has it that the head scout's car broke down on draft night so he couldn't get to his landline and we drafted the wrong guys. His car broke because a squirrel chewed on a wire and it eventually gave way. And that happened because his 5 year old cracked open some acorns in the yard and it became a haven for squirrels who liked acorns. Which happened because some guy who owned the house 40 years prior got a deal on acorn trees and planted them in the head scouts yard. And he did that because his grandma said back in 1820 they made acorn pie. Which happened because her grandparents lived through a revolution in their native country in 1753 and that's all they had to live on. And that revolution started because some man named Csonka got into a spat about whether to put a steel mill near where three rivers intersected.

Eventually some renegade boat pirates with eye patches sailed the fleeing Csonka's to America where they befriended Indian tribes who invented arrowheads.

Thinking a possible 4 SB victories.
