Again, no reason for hyperbole. I only said the only drive that mattered was the last drive of the first half and it was a missed opportunity.

A great example of hyperbole...

That was my opinion.

A great example of hyperbole would be; is McCarthy closer to a bust right now or a hall of famer?

Joe Mauer went on to be a first-ballot HOFer.

Joe Mauer has run about the same amount of two-minute offense.

Most lame opinions are hyperbole.

The shoe fit. Wear it.

There was only one drive that mattered in the entire game. It was the final drive of the first half where McCarthy went 3-and-out.

This is what I've been saying about McCarthy. The 2-minute offense has become very important for NFL quarterbacks. He has very little experience running it at Michigan because he was mostly playing from ahead, with a running offense.

It was one of the main reasons I didn't like the pick of McCarthy. He strikes me as Jim Harbaugh II.

I hope he improves, but he may not. It's an art, and takes time to develop. You've got to know how to control the clock at the end of halves. Kirk Cousins did a lot of things right, but he was a terrible two-minute quarterback.

Lets also not forget, the Vikes were down 20-7 at the half.....to the Raiders.

Id still like to know, with regard to this discussion we are continuing to have, if you watched the game, or that sequence of plays, before you posted.

Whether he's had little experience or not wouldn't have anything to do with whether he'll be great at it or not, imo. Twenty-one years old and he's either got it or he doesnt. The ability to make the plays on a game-crucial drive is similar to whether you want to take the last shot or you'd rather pass it off. I don't see the kid passing it off, but we'll see.

We should know enough now how the universe works.

Don’t get your hopes up.

Wouldn’t surprise if Darnold goes down soon too.

The NFL is a tough business to be in!

Being a Vikings fan is a tough business to be in, too...

JJM out for the year.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/14/2024 12:54:22 PM)

So will they have a bridge QB in 2025 while they continue their careful and methodical grooming plan for McCarthy?

From McMoxie to McMeniscus just like that.

Which quarterback are we drafting next season?

Todd M -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/14/2024 12:59:12 PM)

From hopeful even if Darnold got hurt or is ineffective to all the air coming out of this thing if either happens.

And it’s all my fault. I relapsed and the football gods said - payment delivered.

Sucks for the millions of Vikes fans around the world living their best life.

I’ll try and stay sober.

Trekgeekscott -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/14/2024 1:43:30 PM)

Ugh. JJ out for year. Why do I ever get my hopes up?

Football Gods have it out for us. Keep teasing us with greatness and then taking it away.

****ers.

Bucs need a QB?

I felt that way when Terry Allen wrecked his knee in preseason. Nowadays, I just kind of expect our nice things to break before we get them out of the gift wrap.

twinsfan -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/14/2024 2:12:52 PM)

Addison was just carted off the field in Cleveland.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/14/2024 2:43:44 PM)

The only positive of JJM being out is Darnold has no pressure on him now. He'll get a full year to show if he can make without the pressure of JJM replacing him if we start off slow.

Ricky J -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/14/2024 3:16:45 PM)

Wow! What a buzz kill!

David Levine -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/14/2024 3:22:34 PM)

J.J. McCarthy is the 1st QB drafted in the 1st round in the common draft era (since 1967) to miss his entire rookie season due to injury.

Jeff Allen -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/14/2024 3:25:07 PM)

Hopefully it will be a Culpepper situation and JJ will start Year 2.

David Levine -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/14/2024 3:25:10 PM)

Warren Ludford@wludford
So, today's Vikings news:

- J.J. McCarthy out for season
- Jordan Addison taken off on a cart
- Sam Darnold starts 1/12 with a pick in joint practices
- Thayer Thomas went down hard too

Other than that, it's been good?

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/14/2024 3:33:40 PM)

NFL Live said KOC talked about Addison and it was his ankle and shouldn't be bad. At least SOME decent news.

Ricky J -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/14/2024 3:35:48 PM)

Ok, I think I'll be able to watch this next year without the high hopes, now.

Id love to see an A+ coaching job out of KOC.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/14/2024 3:55:39 PM)

So, JJ being out for the year doesn’t really impact his career path much, as I stated in an earlier post. For 2024 however it does impact QB depth. If Darnold goes down, or let’s face it just sucks, a definite possibility, previously we could just stick JJ in, start the clock on him and let him take his lumps. Now we’re suddenly repeating the QB carousel of last year. Whee! What fun.

Have to admit... that is an instant classic slapdown beatdown post!

Pfff. Any QB with confidence and talent ignores that. But yeah, it probably applies in this case.
