Last night was.modern baseball at its finest. The Twins needed to use 5 pitchers in a game they won 9-1.

Lopez was cruising 11 of 15 outs recorded via Strike out. and Rocco pulls him.

Why not let him keep going?

Brad H -> RE: Twins 2025 Game Day (5/7/2025 10:24:36 AM)

The top hitting team in the league right now is the Yankees with a .262 batting average. Twenty years ago (2005) the teams hitting .262 (White Sox and A's) were 17th and 18th in the league.

Oddly, all the attention to analytics has made very little difference in runs scored. The top hitting team in baseball in 2005 was the Red Sox, who averaged 5.617 runs-per-game while batting .281. The top hitting team in 2025 (Yankees) averages 5.611 runs-per-game while batting .262. The difference is microscopic. The only change is how they get there. The Red Sox of '05 struck out 1,044 times. The Yankees of 2025 are on pace to strike out 1,435 times.

Myself, I preferred the old game. Watching baseball in 2025 is flat out boring to me. You couldn't pay me to go to a game. I fail to see how the top hitting team in baseball striking out nearly nine times a game is entertaining. Call me crazy.

He had several long 8,9,10 pitch battles and his pitch count was already at 98 after the 5th inning. It was a great start, we had a solid lead, so I have no problem with when he came out of the game. We were keeping score at the game last night and it sure was fun to count up all those K's and backwards K's.

Pretty good crowd of 20,000 last night. But Target Field was understaffed, especially for food services. I couldn't believe some of the lines I saw. I'd guess less than half the vendors were even operating. People must have been waiting in line for 4 innings just to get a hot dog. Sad really.

Venders must have given up on the team

On the brighter side, Buck is on a roll right now and that will always get me to tune in. Lopez, Ryan and Ober are pitching great and the bullpen looks to have stabilized.

Joe Ryan is sick.

Apparently there is a virus going through the clubhouse. Sounds like the same bug Bader had.

At least Ober is on his normal rest for today.

2 games below .500

TJSweens -> RE: Twins 2025 Game Day (5/12/2025 8:34:08 AM)

The winning streak hits 8 with a 10 inning win. DeShawn Kiersey of all people, delivered the game winning hit. The stupid runner on second rule put us behind in the top of the inning. The stupid rule also allowed us to tie and ultimately win in the bottom of the inning.

I hated that rule and then I loved it for a split second. Immediately went back to hating it a split second after we won, because I know it's stupid.

One thing where we actually agree. I hate that rule with every fiber of my being.

Good luck with your hopes and dreams.

twinsfan -> RE: Twins 2025 Game Day (5/14/2025 12:30:47 PM)

Twins lead 4-3 in the 5th inning. Vazquez hit a 3-run HR.

Trekgeekscott -> RE: Twins 2025 Game Day (5/14/2025 2:29:42 PM)

Added two runs in the 9th to win the Opener of the double header.

Now lets take game two!!!!

TJSweens -> RE: Twins 2025 Game Day (5/14/2025 3:31:34 PM)

Larnach with a 2 run shot in game 2. Up 3-0.

boydster -> RE: Twins 2025 Game Day (5/14/2025 8:48:54 PM)

Kody Clemens with the miraculous 3-run HR late to give us the win. Great catch by Castro too.

Happy birthday bstinger!

twinsfan -> RE: Twins 2025 Game Day (5/15/2025 3:21:47 PM)

Twins win 11th in a row.

But Buxton and Correa collide. Both have concussions.

TJSweens -> RE: Twins 2025 Game Day (5/15/2025 7:35:36 PM)

Simeon Woods Richardson sent down. They will keep Funderburk for now and likely bring up Zebby Matthews to start Sunday.

Umm dammit. Of the two to collide it had to be those two.

Brad H -> RE: Twins 2025 Game Day (5/17/2025 7:41:27 AM)

12 straight wins is a crazy streak, I don't care who you are. That ain't easy!

TJSweens -> RE: Twins 2025 Game Day (5/17/2025 11:30:03 AM)

The power of pitching and defense mixed with timely hitting.

Starters doing their job. Rest of team, not so much.

When we get Royce back, start platooning Correa. He only deserves to play 3 times a week. Maybe be a late inning defensive replacement.

Red Sox showed us how doing the little things can win games. We are fundamentally poor in so many areas and no one gets held accountable.

Fire Rocco.

I'm eating crow.

We are holding people accountable. Miranda, Julien, Woods-Richardson, Gasper all sent down because they were struggling.

Go Twins!! Good job, Rocco.
