I guess I just don't see it. He looked out of control trying to initiate the offense. Not sure what the brass has seen in his game that makes them think he can provide what Mike does.

We're talking about Shannon, not Dillingham.

I know.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: 2024-25 Postmortem Offseason and Draft (7/11/2025 8:56:44 AM)

I don’t usually put too much weight on summer league, I watch a bit here and there. But Beringer’s line is noteworthy. 11 pts 8 rebounds 6 blocks in 23 minutes.

Yikes. Give him some time to mature and learn the game and we may have something. Like a Rudy with hands.

TJSweens -> RE: 2024-25 Postmortem Offseason and Draft (7/11/2025 10:50:41 AM)

I thought game 1 results were good for Shannon, Clark and Beringer. Dillingham was plain awful.

Shannon and Clark are encouraging since they are directly replacing NAW. I hope Beringer keeps building on it. He could play situational minutes earlier than we expect.

Dillingham needs to turn it around fast. He didn't look any better than last year. If he can't stand out against this level of competition, his prospects of running an NBA offense are pretty bleak.

To be fair, we really don't want what Mike provides.

Mike gives us stability and spot up 3pt shooting, but that's kind of it now. He's great to settle things down if we start turning it over and playing out of control.

But he no longer can break down a defense. Can't drive or create for himself anymore. His floater and midrange game are gone. His game is basically get the ball across halfcourt, pass it off and park himself behind the arc for catch and shoot opportunities.

We need a dynamic guy handling the ball and creating chaos and getting defenses scrambling.

Dilly is supposed to be that guy, but he's still playing at 120% speed. Ant still struggles playing with pace if he has the ball in hands and he doesn't process the court like a PG.

So, maybe TJ is the answer for now. He's so good at getting into the teeth of the defense and he's starting to really show some drive and kick chops.

Elliot -> RE: 2024-25 Postmortem Offseason and Draft (7/11/2025 12:14:12 PM)

Well, I stand corrected in my original note. We don't need more of what Mike can provide. We need more of what he used to provide, bu no longer can. TJ can drive and kick. That's great. But I don't know that he can do more than that. And I'm skeptical.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: 2024-25 Postmortem Offseason and Draft (7/11/2025 1:31:47 PM)

With Dillingham it’s a common struggle that a lot of young players deal with, including Ant even.

He’s a high energy player. But you have to figure out how to make him slow down and be a playmaker without taking away that aggressiveness that makes him special. Some players never do figure it out.

Why did Tyus Jones fizzle out so quickly?

He was never that good.

I did not. I was disappointed when we drafted him.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: 2024-25 Postmortem Offseason and Draft (7/16/2025 8:02:29 AM)

Relatively loved him maybe. He was a competent backup. At times that was a better option than anything else we had. But that doesn’t mean it’s ideal.

Supposedly, the Wolves offer to the Suns for KD was: Rudy, DDV, TSJ and #17.

https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/281424/Suns-Wolves-Discussed-Rudy-Gobert-Donte-DiVinenzo-Terrence-Shannon-No-17-For-Kevin-Durant

What are the thoughts on this? Obviously would have resulted in a different defensive scheme without Gobert around anymore.

wrh -> RE: 2024-25 Postmortem Offseason and Draft (7/19/2025 8:08:09 AM)

Just my 2 cents. I am glad it didn't go thru for KD. The window for success would have been to small for my taste.

My thoughts are that was what Phoenix asked for.

If we offered it, Durant would be a Wolf.

I think that might have been the offer if KD was open to signing an extension with Minnesota. When he balked at that, the Wolves reduced their offer, or maybe pulled it entirely.

Looks like the Wolves are waiving Jesse Edwards. Never saw him as deserving of a 2-way contract.

Elliot -> RE: 2024-25 Postmortem Offseason and Draft (8/21/2025 10:47:49 AM)

Can't say I'm terribly surprised at Bones Hyland's return.
