Congrats to Gold Glove finalist Brooks Lee.

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Twins Talk (10/16/2026 7:22:47 AM)

So---Brewers swept the Dodgers.

Looking like a lock out may have a higher chance of happening now.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Twins Talk (10/16/2026 12:02:33 PM)

The result of that sweep AND a small market/small spending AL rep in the WS would suggest the chance of a lockout would be LOWER, i.e. big money teams don't always win. However, the owners will still find a reason to have a lockout because, well, just follow the money (that they hope to save).

A floor and a ceiling salary cap makes too much sense. So, it probably won't happen.

Which is why they won’t start on time next year.

The Dodgers clear a billion a year and they complain about Brewers owners making 15-20 million.

Maybe you don't understand.......they equals Bill.

You don' remember your post about the Brewers making a few million?

As usual you run someone's premise through the PhilFilter and out comes something different. And of course you start your twist by basing your dig on someone saying something as generic as a salary floor and ceiling make too much sense, so it won't happen.

My points about the Brewers were actually about not giving up enough PROSPECTS to secure Skubal, at which point MLB could have handed the WSC trophy to them right then and there. Then that branched out into cheap ass owners not spending, and that applies to whoever they are and not the Brewers specifically. Then they hide behind the boogeymen high dollar teams while saying there needs to be a salary cap.

And yes I called out the Brewers cheap ass owner for getting the public to pay half a billion dollars for his stadium upgrade (or an upgrade he will benefit from when selling) after surmising they would not likely sign Skubal after the season even if they had traded for him.

I don't begrudge owners making money. But the way things are, the PLAYERS should be calling a strike to demand a cap floor. Sign better players, put more butts in seats, increase revenue... an UPWARD spiral.

Also, don't tell me what I posted months ago considering you can't keep track of what you posted a mere day prior. Meanwhile, you enjoy living vicariously through the owners that screw their fanbase by not spending enough in what has been a DOWNWARD spiral.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Twins Talk (10/21/2026 10:04:18 AM)

AND once Levine brought up a salary floor - a real salary floor and not some bogus percentage - I totally agreed and that was pretty much it for that debate.

Guess that also didn't make it through the PhilFilter.

twinsfan -> RE: General Twins Talk (10/21/2026 10:28:08 AM)

There will be no cap. There will be no floor. The owners don't get to call the shots. The players are MLB. The way it should be.

Yes, sentences after sentences to build the picture for you because you are too stupid to recall what I posted.

Point out anything that refutes what I just said or STFU.

While public financial reports from the publicly traded Atlanta Braves reveal that competitive teams often run near net-negative operating margins, team ownership remains incredibly lucrative. Most owners count on the long-term asset appreciation of the franchise—with the average MLB team value doubling over a decade to $2.9 billion—rather than squeezing out annual cash-flow profits.

Bump.

I don't have a problem with some financial parity, but there is already $200 million a year per team in revenue sharing plus more sharing with luxury taxes.

Until the MLB owners/grifters create rules to put money towards players and not their pockets, I say f*** em. Naturally they laugh at that as they grow tremendous wealth.

BUMP.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Twins Talk (10/21/2026 8:01:19 PM)

BTW Phil, the conversation was ELEVEN weeks ago. Which is far more than your claim of "a few weeks ago".

Like I said... you don't even know what you yourself posted 24 hours ago. How in the world can you know what I posted 11 weeks ago? The answer is you don't so you make up shit and assign it to me. Typical punk move.

I just read through ALL my posts. Show me where I "complain about Brewers owners making 15-20 million."

So you complain about kickers using different footballs in the NFL, but you're fine with no kind of equality or limits on payroll in MLB?

Which one has a bigger affect on competitive balance?

Its really not.

OMG. I literally bumped that post yesterday! So where am I complaining about the "Brewers owner(s) making 15-20 million"?

WOW[&o][:-]

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Twins Talk (10/22/2026 4:55:53 PM)

BTW dumbshit Phil... how does 11 weeks ago translate to your "a few weeks ago" claim?

Your idiocy on the political threads translates directly to here. Because you think your take on the MLB, like everything else, is an expert take.

I fully admit being a novice with MLB, but cheap ass owners are cheap ass owners. Surprised Red McCombs didn't find his comfort zone in baseball, it would have been nirvana for him!

The cheap ass owners also get annual pure profit NINE FIGURE levels of revenue sharing income in return for literally doing nothing, other benefits like luxury tax distributions, and they PROFIT IMMENSELY on ever increasing franchise values.

But you go on pretending you have a bond with them. Your actual bond is opening your mouth so they can shit or ejaculate down your throat. You lap it up because nothing replaces your vicarious siding with say 15-30 people who hoodwink their fan bases. ENJOY!

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Twins Talk (10/22/2026 5:00:02 PM)

A perfect world in this relative introduction to MLB: a long holdout to give the old fart Dodgers a chance in October, a cap ceiling, and a REAL cap floor.

Really great reason to be a bigger bully than normal....I guess.
