So DL didn't have the same theory I did? Then after another page of it you posted one reply. But again it is ok to have a different opinion. Never said it was wrong just said we won't have baseball w/o some form of salary cap.

You really need to get checked or have your meds changed.

Don't try to reinvent history. For example, DL talked about the NFL salary floor. I said agreed with that for baseball. You twice this past week said I didn't/don't want a floor.

Weird, you yap that all the pages are there yet you keep turning what I said into BS fabrications and lies. Why is that?

And why the obsession, item by item, for upwards of a week?

Putting Phil's projection in it's proper place: Phil the narcissist.

I'm gonna work on that!

Nah I admit I have a different opinion. But I don't call you a liar for having a differing opinon.

That there is a narcissist.

More revisionist, escapist BS.

Phil the narcissist.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Twins Talk (10/26/2026 5:29:55 PM)

Phil you think you are sneaky but you are quite transparent. For example, last week you began distorting and outright lying about my positions that you said were "a few weeks ago", but actually began 11 weeks ago (no matter). Point by point you tried to disassemble every point, and twisted my words or said untruths about each one. I replied to each of your wild accusations by basically bumping posts.

Meanwhile, except for refuting what you said, never did I go back and distort and lie about what you said in Aug & Sept.

After you had nothing, you then repeatedly had the gall to dismiss things and say it was just different opinions.

Different opinions, really? You literally attack my every point then come up with "nah" it's just different opinions?

So easy to see through your BS. As I said, you are quite transparent.

Pages 41-42. It's all there!

So you guys agree that you'd like a salary cap and floor?

That's your opinions.

I say neither will happen.

You are mixing up two different things. Liking a cap and floor is not the same as thinking it will happen.

And to be clear about your term 'like', as long as the Dodgers will be big spenders (debatable given what's going on with Mark Walters) I don't like the idea of a cap. But as long as there is a legitimate floor it's acceptable.

Besides, for LA it's time to stop throwing bags of record-breaking money at players coming off peak seasons. Tanner Scott, Edwin Diaz, Kyle Tucker have massively underperformed... either flat out or with respect to their contracts. High priced Snell and Glasnow are always one pitch away from disappearing for months.

Ohtani and Yamamoto are the heart and soul of that team. Although last year it took most everyone playing well to (barely) get by Toronto. The big issue will be getting younger players in the lineup while high-priced, possible deadwood veterans are still still starting. They don't need more Brinks Trucks full of money to do that.

Because its easier to be a Twins fan when you can cry about the lack of competitive balance.

Do you want a 2027 season? There will have to be something even if it isn't a complete salary cap.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Twins Talk (10/27/2026 2:48:09 PM)

Read this on TRUEBLUELA:

Had a conversation at the baseball gym I go to with the guy who runs their pitching program. His clients are current pros, college guys, high-school prospects. This is coming straight from him, btw. I'm paraphrasing. He used more colorful language.

Players are more concerned over getting paid than anything else. They see the cap as a mechanism owners are trying to push on them so they don't get paid. It's less of a philosophical argument, more of a trust issue. Players are willing to listen, and don't really care about what owners want. If the owners want a cap and their salaries will triple, they'd probably go for it. But what they hate the most is service time, arbitration structure, teams not spending on players. There's enough anger brewing, it's not the conversation about the cap and owners locking out players which will cancel the 2027 season. Players are willing to strike.

"Let them call in ****ing plumbers (replacement players) next season, guys are going to play overseas where they can make more money than in the MLB. Most guys are willing to play in Japan where they can get $2M a year."

Those were his exact words.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Twins Talk (10/27/2026 2:49:39 PM)

And this:

Yup, but there's also some other structural quirks. On average, each MLB club is supporting around 225 players in the minors. MLB teams pay for coaching staffs, equipment, player salaries, housing stipends, etc. Minor league team owners cover facility costs, transportation, and other expenses. There's a split.

Player development operations are costly, and so few of those 225 players are ever going to play a single game in the bigs. Even fewer are going to be everyday players. And fewer still will ever be stars.

The way owners recoup costs is through the current system in place now - young players who make it to the bigs are subsidizing 10 other prospects who will never make it. Players that costs organizations money to develop, but clubs never see a return on their investment.

Again, more quirks. Unlike the NHL, NBA or NFL, draft order is less of a predictor of future success. Players drafted with the top 10 picks in the NHL draft have a 90%+ likelihood they will be come NHL regulars. Players drafted in the 7th round have an an extremely small chance of ever playing a single NHL game, let alone becoming a star.

Contrast that to the MLB. Skubal was a 9th round draft pick. Wrobleski was a 13th round draft pick. The MLB draft is a poorer predictor how a player's career will unfold. So, teams have to fill up the minors warm bodies, giving them all a chance to develop and see how they pan out.

Player development timelines are also on the long side. You'll get top draft picks in the NHL and NBA making debuts their draft year. NHL drafts at 18, NBA at 19. Those players are providing value right away. And most guys break into the league before they're 21. Average age for an NHL rookie is 22. Average age for an MLBer is 25.

So, an 18 year old an MLB drafts is spending, on average, 7-years developing them in the minors. NFL and NBA primarily use college sports as their developmental leagues, too.

That's sort of why MLB is so reticent relaxing service time rules in any meaningful way. If they spend 7-years developing a player only for them to walk 2-years later, they're not getting much payback on their investment.

Crunch the numbers. By the time a player has "paid back" development costs, 6-years later they are going to be past their prime if they debut at 25. So few players are still viable into their 30's. Only 25% ever make it into free agency. Teams who want to spend-to-win are left with very few options, competing against each other on the open market. Since there's so much money in baseball in larger markets, UFA salaries explode.

It's an imperfect system the way it is now. Yet it's probably the most sensible for both sides.

Some of the concerns fans have regarding competitive balance are valid. The Dodgers absolutely have an "unfair" advantage. Revenue sharing tweaks and a requirement small-market teams use those funds on player salaries would go a long way closing the gap. Owners can work amongst themselves to make that happen and not make the players responsible for it.

WRONG AGAIN. Those are posts dumbass.

And the point here is those posts are discussing several other possible factors in any upcoming bargaining besides the cap.

Like usual, you failed to read beyond the first sentence of the first post, tossed out some BS, and added a laughing shit-eating grin.

Obsessive moron.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Twins Talk (10/27/2026 4:57:54 PM)

I literally just went and bolded the major points in the posts to help Phil THE Village Idiot get a rough clue on things. Not that spoon-feeding him what they say is going to help his drooling toddler mentality.

My god.

Bill Johanesen -> RE: General Twins Talk (10/27/2026 5:05:41 PM)

"A few weeks" from now, the resident lying moron will claim I imported a couple of posts that were all about not having a cap... and will add "It's all there" on Page 42 to help shoot himself in his face.
