Too bad. Green could have a useful player

Cody Williams is the younger brother of J Williams of OKC. He is worth a shot.

David Levine -> RE: Timberwolves Gameday (8/29/2026 11:03:36 AM)

Its fine. Green was a rental at best and we needed to clear money.

Konchar would not get minutes here, and his stretch is way less damaging than Green's would have been.

We won't pick up Williams' 4th year option, but he'll be under contract this year. He'll likely spend the whole season in Iowa trying to prove he isn't the massive bust he appears to be. If he plays well, we can use his Bird Rights to sign him for up to 7.7M.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Timberwolves Gameday (8/29/2026 11:18:46 AM)

So the team appears set. I approve. They will be contenders, lack of big man depth notwithstanding. That can always be bolstered during the season if need be once we see how things shake out.

David Levine -> RE: Timberwolves Gameday (8/29/2026 11:21:20 AM)

We'll probably add 1 more vet minimum (probably a big) after we waive Konchar.

Phil Riewer -> RE: Timberwolves Gameday (8/31/2026 5:01:06 PM)

Such a weird world we live in with regards to NCAA and Pros:

TKR is suing the NCAA for a 5th season of collegiate eligibility.
Kaufman-Renn was at PURDUE for 5 seasons, but only played in 4, redshirting his freshman year.

Its smart of him to try. He has no chance to make the Wolves roster and a minimal one to replace Freeman as our 3rd two-way player.

Looks like a good offseason and transformation. Wolves were already contenders but the GM said that's not enough.

He's really done an amazing job of completely rebuilding the roster around Ant,Jaden and Rudy with minimal assets.

Should be a fun team to watch - provided Finch stays out of Ball's way.

Rumors about Kevin Love being that last big man/FA signing.

wrh -> RE: Timberwolves Gameday (9/4/2026 5:00:57 PM)

sems to me that K Love could be a nice fit! hope to see it.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Timberwolves Gameday (9/5/2026 12:00:26 AM)

I’ll take I Can’t Believe He’s Still in the League for 500, Ken.

But sure, I don’t know, maybe? [insert confused Larry David GIF]

I was there on Love’s 31/31 night. He was the second most impressive player on the floor. Michael Beasley was the first. Beasley was a very talented guy…when he wanted to be…that was the problem.

David Levine -> RE: Timberwolves Gameday (9/12/2026 11:55:47 AM)

DAZN is announcing pricing for the Wolves games/content:

Monthly: $19.99 for regular tier, $24.99 for ultimate tier

Season: $119.99/139.99.
Season ticket holders get a 20% discount.

15 free games on the app and on an over-the-air channel to be announced later.

David Levine -> RE: Timberwolves Gameday (9/12/2026 11:56:39 AM)

Crazy. I pay less to watch the Wolves (and every other team in the league) than locals pay just to watch the Wolves.

twinsfan -> RE: Timberwolves Gameday (9/15/2026 1:25:42 PM)

Who is the best 2nd round draft pick in team history?

David Levine -> RE: Timberwolves Gameday (9/15/2026 1:34:25 PM)

1: Nikola Pekovic
2: Doug West
3: Jaylen Clark
4: Craig Smith

I thought in their long history there were a few more contenders. But no, I looked the through the whole list and that’s about it.

twinsfan -> RE: Timberwolves Gameday (9/17/2026 12:44:27 PM)

So two starters. Yikes.

30% of 2nd round picks never play a single minute in the league.

David Levine -> RE: Timberwolves Gameday (9/17/2026 3:41:52 PM)

Dane Moore:

Charlotte w/ LaMelo Ball ON the floor last season
O-rating: 125.0
D-rating: 115.3
Net rating: +9.7

Charlotte w/ LaMelo Ball OFF the floor last season
O-rating: 113.4
D-rating: 113.6
Net rating: -0.2

For some context, that's an even bigger offensive improvement than the Wolves saw during those Julius Randle-Naz Reid minutes, when Rudy Gobert was off the floor.

Minnesota w/ Rudy Gobert ON the floor last season
O-rating: 113.6
D-rating: 108.8
Net rating: +4.9

Minnesota w/ Rudy Gobert OFF the floor last season
O-rating: 122.1
D-rating: 120.6
Net rating: +1.5

And to also use those numbers as a reference, you can say LaMelo Ball helped Charlotte's offense as much last season (+11.6 o-rating) as Rudy Gobert help Minnesota's defense (-11.8 d-rating).

The Minnesota Timberwolves and Drew Timme have agreed to a deal, league sources told @hoopshype. Timme will compete for a spot in training camp. The former Gonzaga star has averaged 5.6 points and 2.7 rebounds in two NBA seasons with the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers.

If you're into undersized bigs that can't shoot or defend, he's awesome.
