ORIGINAL: Trekgeekscott My .02 I was at this game. First time to actually attend a game, and it if weren't for cost, I would do it more frequently. Defense is just stifling. Blake Cashman was everywhere. The defense was having a problem getting off the field on 3rd downs it seemed. Too many 3rd down conversions allowed. I don't get why any team thinks they can just put a TE on Dallas Turner and hope he can be blocked.... Kyler Murray is not the long term answer and I may very well turn very quickly on Nolan Teasley if they keep him after this year. Offense seems flat but at the same time, I am starting to think this is the gameplan. Play it close to the vest, don't take too many chances, protect the football, win time of possession ( which they didn't in this game) keep the oppsing offense off the field and the defense fresh and don't turn the ball over, to give the other team a short field, and let the defense take over the game. Murray did make a couple brutal throws in this game though. Nice having Mason back. he was getting some hard yards. We could however use a RB with vision like Jonathan Taylor.....that man got a lot of his yards through holes that were just barely a hole... our guys would not have been able to do that. Bummer on Reichard getting that one kick blocked, but this offense does need to stop stalling out so he has to kick 55+ yarders all the time. Nice to see Jajuan Jenning finally do something. With a better QB, the pass catching trio of JJ, Addison and Hockenson ought to scare the shit out of opposing DCs. Murray just doesn't work. But again, that could be gameplan too. The problem now is that gameplan isn't going to work as well in the coming weeks when you have the Lions, Bills, Packers, and 49ers and Falcons for that matter on the docket. these teams can all score. I trust our defense to keep us close but the offense NEEDS to stop up a bit. and that means Murray has to start looking a lot more competent. Nice to keep winning. But he next month is going to tell us a lot about our team. There does some to be some intentionality behind the flatness. Maybe I'm just reading too much into it. Unlike 2022 and 2024 when it felt like we were sailing through the season, with little change in approach first game to last game ... and why would we when you're racking up wins? Until you get shredded at the end of the season by teams that are peaking. This feels a little bit more like a big picture building process ... trying to develop the run / manage the clock to help the QB and defense while they sharpen their spears for the real battle ahead. (the defense was also a letdown at the end of 2022 and 2024) Often the flatness is just poor play of course. And maybe we'll just flatline at some point (again). I'm hoping that unlike 2022 and 2024, we actually see the requirement for improving our attack to end up peaking in game 16 or 17 instead of just getting it done game 1 thru 15. A trajectory more reliant on a rugged, well-rounded team than fancy pants offense and tricky defense.
