I don't think they will get that much for him.

My guess: either a 2nd and a 4th, or a 2nd and 3rd.

David Levine -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/31/2026 11:23:40 AM)

Matt Bowen called Taylor "a volume runner with home run speed and pass-catching ability on screens and swings." The volume is there. Taylor has 587 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns on 140 carries, plus 17 catches for 178 yards, good for 109.3 scrimmage yards a game. The efficiency has slipped, though. He is averaging 4.2 yards per carry after 4.9 last season, and his 68.5 rushing grade ranks 23rd of 44 qualifying backs at PFF.

We actually have absorb what remains of his $6.98 million base salary after the deadline but not much else. The bigger bill comes later, with $16.02 million in cash due in 2027 and $17.98 million in 2028, and his 2027 base salary becomes fully guaranteed in February.

vikingsterritory says: Tony Pollard, Ben Bredeson, and Kirk Cousins....

that just might do it....

Three new starters sounds farfetched. They more likely said Tony Pollard, Ben Bredeson, OR Kirk Cousins....

.
all of their base salaries are lowish, and pollard and cousins don't extend beyond this year, so they won't cost much...bredeson's is at $6.5mm/'27....

it would be nice to have a fries replacement already signed for next season - maybe draft another guard and center on the 2nd day next draft....

It will still take a lot of draft picks just to get those teams to the table. Two of those players would be acquired as rentals and with Cousins you are buying high.

Anyway, a team making three trades for three players in a single season might be unprecedented. Teams unloading three players for a bunch of draft picks is more common.

Teasley came up through the ranks, most recently while seeing Seattle build largely through the draft. He doesn't strike me as a 'Watch This' or impulsive person but who knows.

.
buying high on cousins?...how do ghost years work?....

vegas has cousins at $1.3mm as a base salary for 2026, and $10mm as salary for a contractually non-existing 2027...how is that $10mm treated in a trade?....

if we had to pick it up in 2027, we could possibly extend him a season and kick it down to 2028 - depending on how he fared in the rest of this season....

he could be a starter or backup in '27....

four years back, i wanted cousins gone as much as anyone, but o'connell is best with a seasoned veteran who is over 6'-2", and can make the mid to deeper passes....

JMO but, honestly, I don't think he'd move the needle enough. Yes, he's a great back, but our problems are beyond that. They've thrown a lot against the wall in the IOL over the last couple years but it's still "MEH". I was geeked about the talk of getting Nelson, extending his for 3 and moving Jackson to RG next year but, sadly, it didn't happen.

We have a superstar WR (maybe 2) and can't get him the ball. Getting a superstar RB, when you can't open holes for him, is lipstick on the pig. I get the "a running game can open the passing game" argument all day. I just don't think any of it matters until we, truely, fix the line.

I wanted that post to stand on its own. Now, let's address the other elephant in the room. Until KOC calls plays to enhance his offenses strengths, it all doesn't matter. I will die on this hill. He is a great culture building CEO type coach, but he SUCKS as an OC

Again, it's not the $ but the picks. Buying high in terms of picks as he is a starting QB, tied for 1st in TDs and 4th in yards.

But he's always been good with stats. The issue is when the pressure is on he folds like a cheap suit. Been to that rodeo.

Pass (no pun intended).

I'm not in favor of trading for him. Just throwing the info out there.

Preaching to the choir here Jeff. Teasley needs to tell KOC he is the head coach, but needs to hire an OC to run the offense. KOC and his offense remind me of Chili and his kick ass offense. We need an OC that can mold the offense on what the players he has do best, not mold the players to do what he wants.....

we have three 5th-round picks, and three 6th-round picks in 2027 -- we could spare a couple of those and maybe something from '28....

dependng on who's there, we could trade our '27 1st for a 2nd and 3rd (and maybe a 4th) - giving us 5 of the first 100 picks next year....

i think there's a decent chance that we extend cashman, rodgers and van ginkel in the offseason....
