I have liked KOC's play calling, since about the start of the late season wins, through this year, he realizes the importance of the run game.

His play calls have mostly been good, but some poor execution by the QBs, and some dropped balls.

A few things need to be tweaked, like short yardage can't have a slow developing play. And:

Does KOC understand the importance of quick hitters, release valves, slants ?

The Indianapolis Colts have agreed to trade eight-time Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

In exchange for Nelson, the Colts are receiving a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round selection, sources said.

Nelson is on an expiring contract and the Colts are opting to get back draft capital now before they could lose him in free agency.

Damn!!!
That was cheap.
We could really use him.

Would've been better off resigning Kenneth Walker III.

Viking Rich -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/27/2026 3:44:20 PM)

My God.

Seattle gets Quentin Nelson from the Colts for a 2027 3rd pick, and a 2028 5th.
The Vikings could have given up both of those in 2027.
We have he Eagles 2027 3rd, which is looking better than Seattle's and we have 3 5th round picks.

WTF???

Viking Rich -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/27/2026 3:48:25 PM)

maybe they're going after Taylor?

Heck, I'd be interested in DeForest Buckner

The key is that Seattle also is paying the 9 Million $$$ left in salary. I don't think the Vikes have that much for this year.

If they acquire someone it will cost more if that team pays the salary. So it won't be cheap to get Taylor.

David Levine -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/27/2026 4:03:11 PM)

Murray has me *almost* wishing Kirk was back... Cousins has 16 TD passes. We have 9 offensive TDs.

Yes, the Raiders spent the first pick of the draft on Mendoza, but quarterback play isn’t the Raiders' problem right now. Las Vegas’ offense ranks 13th in the NFL in yards per game (343.7), fourth in passing (269.0) and sixth in scoring (26.1 points per game). Cousins ranks third in the NFL in passing yards (1,877) and leads the league with 16 touchdown passes.

More concerning: a rushing attack that has managed just 74.7 yards per game (31st) and a defense that allows 373.7 yards per game (28th) and 28.1 points per contest (fourth-most).

Kubiak noted this on Sunday.

"You can't win in this league having to throw it as much as we are throwing," Kubiak said. "If there's no balance, then you are playing from behind."

Yeah, I was kind of thinking that too. Kirk's playing some of the best ball of his career right now

You can follow him with the 49ers.

For a 4th round pick.

Viking Rich -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/27/2026 6:35:49 PM)

Jonathan Taylor to Denver?

I was THRILLED when they moved on from Kirk.

Ironically... and perfect Vikings scenario...

If Kirk was aquired today, I think Vikes are superbowl favorites.

David Levine -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/27/2026 7:52:22 PM)

We would definitely make the Playoffs…

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/28/2026 3:42:23 AM)

From a fantasy football perspective, Kirk has faced soft pass defenses, and will soon be playing some tougher pass defenses.

Great regular season games isn't going to suddenly make Kirk a playoff performer, if his team actually makes the playoffs. A couple of weeks ago, they were talking about at what point they would be switching to Mendoza.

Kirk has no mobility, I wouldn't trust him in a playoff game. He is fine with a script, but struggles with improv, and a check down on 4th down in a playoff game doesn't look good on your resume.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/28/2026 3:50:50 AM)

I had thought about picking up Kirk off the waiver wire in fantasy football, but with the leagues' scoring, as it is, CJ Stroud and Aaron Rodgers are slightly outperforming him, and Kirk has the tougher schedule coming up, of the 3 quarterbacks. I don't trust Kirk when push really comes to shove. You start 1 QB in this league, and have 1 start as a flex, Stroud and Rodgers are my #2 and #3, and my team is in 2nd place right now.

Let's hope that either Murray or Wentz prove to be great performers in December, and through the playoffs, assuming this Vikings' team is a playoff team.

Odd thing is he playing really well w/o a true #1 WR....

Viking Rich -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/28/2026 5:08:58 PM)

Could the Vikings be looking at Breece Hall?

That guys's a stud - I love his burst at the handoff.

The Vikings need speed like that.

David Levine -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/28/2026 6:13:22 PM)

The league has just announced that Vikings’ linebacker Blake Cashman has been named the NFC’s Defensive Player of the Week for Week 7 of the 2026 NFL season.

If it seemed like Cashman was all over the place in the Vikings’ 16-10 victory over the Indianapolis Colts this past Sunday, that’s only because. . .well, he was. Cashman recorded 12 tackles on the afternoon, including eight solo tackles and two tackles for loss. He also had two quarterback sacks (a career high), three quarterback hits, and four passes defended. It was the twentieth game of his NFL career with at least ten tackles, and his sixteenth since joining the Vikings.

We've now had 5 weekly award winners in 7 weeks. Only missing out on Week 1 and our bye week.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/28/2026 11:51:42 PM)

True, they seem to have a good offensive system with Las Vegas, but he also has the best TE in the league in Brock Bowers, and his backup TE is also very good, Jeanty isn't bad.

Kirk has usually put up good regular season stats, and someone posted in the Vikings game day thread how they missed Kirk, after Kirk had a great 1st half against KC. Then Kirk blew it in the 2nd half.

Then the Raiders went on to lose 4 straight games, and then the talk of changing to Mendoza.

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/28/2026 11:57:32 PM)

Rich

I brought up Breece Hall last year, thought he would have paired well with Mason.

Someone thought it was just a fantasy, another thought it was too expensive, another claimed I was obsessing about it, just because I stood behind it, while really only mentioning it a few times.

I agree with you Rich that Hall is a stud, I was right that the Vikings should have gotten him last year. They might get him this year, if Taylor is "just a fantasy".

Or we didn't have the 9 Million in cap space.

Real Simple---Is he even healthy?

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/29/2026 9:05:11 AM)

Health is a question for every back.

Walker III has been often hurt in his career, but stayed healthy late in the season, and for a playoff run with a SB win.

Barkley stayed healthy for 1 season in Philly, and was healthy for a playoff run and Super Bowl win.

I think Taylor is really the RB to get, but Hall is good, and Vidal could be a bargain. Is there anything else out there for RBs ?
