Prescott -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (6/23/2014 11:32:28 AM)

So far:

Bill J - has the same number of wins and losses making this a prediction that could happen; whether on purpose or coinincidence, congrats! Can't tell you how many paid prognosticators I see that have fantasy predictions that aren't possible.

John Childress - 6 more wins than losses, so not too bad. Only 3 games where both teams have to win.

Todd M - 24 more wins than losses. Basically the fabric of space and time has to tear. [;)]

I was afraid of that. Didn't feel like doing math though. [:D]

Tossed it in xcel - took 30 seconds max. Take 12 of those wins and turn em into losses, you're good to go.

Bill Jandro -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (6/23/2014 3:32:33 PM)

I actually just got lucky. I was going to do the math later when I tweak my picks.
One thing that has to be considered is only a couple teams from each div can have a winning record cuz they beat on eachother all year. I think 3 teams from the NFCW had winning record last year which is rare.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (7/31/2014 10:50:19 AM)

What? We're into training camp and no predictions on this thread in over a month? I suppose people are waiting to see how the team looks in preseason. Cowards! I'm making my prediction for the Vikings season right now and I'll be glad to stand by it right or wrong.

As background, - Over the years I've evolved into the polar opposite of a hope selling purple glasses kind of guy. I'm no rah rah guy. I've lost all emotional attachment to the Vikings. I like them very much on a sort of 'reality TV' level of entertainment but that's about it. Can't wait to see what happens in next weeks's episode, but I'm completely indifferent to Vikings losses.

Having said that - I'm completely optimistic about the Vikings this year. At bare minimum they should reverse last year's record, 10-6 or 11-5. And get at least one playoff win.

I love the coaching staff. Best head coach since Burns. Best assistant staff since Green. Adrian continues to roll. Patterson and Rudolph join Adrian as All-Pros. Patterson in particular propels into Megatron territory.

I don't know how the QB will play out. But Cassel is fine at QB until a quickly up and coming Bridgewater is deemed ready. I always liked Cassel as a solid professional guy who can lead a team. So if they're doing OK with him I'm guessing Bridgewater wont be rushed. But if Bridgewater does get the nod at some point, that would be super exciting because he is going to be a star. It's not if, it's when.

Defense will be improved, if not yet great. Barr will be considered a top 10 rookie making immediate impact. Some of the other young guys will begin to blossom under Zimmer.

I'm completely serious. I like this team more than any other since probably 15-1.

The offense is completely dependent on us getting competant QB play which I think either Cassell or Bridgewater can give us this year. Even Musgrave's vanilla offense ran better once we got a competant QB running it.

This team will succeed if they can just play adequate defense. Doesn't have to be all world, just adequate.

I am very optimistic about this year.

Vikings undefeated NFL champions. So let it be written... So let it be done.
Jerrick McKinnon will get over 50 carries at over 4 yards per carry.
Anthony Barr 9 sacks 18 TFL. Defensive ROY.

DeLain -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (7/31/2014 12:21:47 PM)

Anyone care to predict who the starting linebackers are going to be? I don't have a clue.

exactly

Todd M -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (8/2/2014 11:30:22 AM)

The Vikings will break the 84 Bears record of 72 sacks in a season.

Might as well get that down here...[sm=cool1.gif][:D]

Bortles and Manziel will be very good. One other QB drafted after Bridgewater will be decent. Bridgewater and rest? Garbage.

Save this for later...

Time for some off-the-wall fun: Christian Ponder will be traded to the Texans within a week.

ronhextall -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (8/15/2014 3:53:08 PM)

Could easily loser their first five games. At that point Bridgewater will probably start and struggle at the beginning (he hasn't exactly looking great in camp or preseason game #1).

First win at Buffalo and win the next two after that. Win a couple more after that. 5 to 7 wins depending on who is mailing it in the final two weeks.

I think the schedule is just brutal and Vikings drafted too many LB and Defensive lineman and not enough DBs.

Surely you jest?

As we drafted more DB's then any other position....

Thomas O. Eliason -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (8/15/2014 5:38:13 PM)

My prediction is the same as every other year: we're going 19 & 0 baby.

If they ask where you got that information (from), tell 'em Large Marge sent ya !

Seems like they drafted front seven every round.

John Childress -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (8/15/2014 7:54:29 PM)

I really only count the first 3 rounds as "addressing" a need

2014 1 1 9 9 Anthony Barr LB UCLA
2 1 32 32 Teddy Bridgewater QB Louisville
3 3 8 72 Scott Crichton DE Oregon State
4 3 32 96 Jerick McKinnon RB Georgia Southern

2013 1 1 23 23 Sharrif Floyd DT Florida
2 1 25 25 Xavier Rhodes DB Florida State
3 1 29 29 Cordarrelle Patterson WR Tennessee

2012 1 1 4 4 Matt Kalil T USC
2 1 29 29 Harrison Smith DB Notre Dame
3 3 3 66 Josh Robinson DB Central Florida

2011 1 1 12 12 Christian Ponder QB Florida State
2 2 11 43 Kyle Rudolph TE Notre Dame

2010 1 2 2 34 Chris Cook DB Virginia
2 2 19 51 Toby Gerhart RB Stanford

John Childress -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (8/15/2014 7:55:55 PM)

Xavier Rhodes DB
Harrison Smith DB
Josh Robinson DB
Chris Cook DB

So in the last 5 years you have 4 DBs in the first 3 rounds.

2 suck
1 looks good but has areas to work on
1 looks promising but is raw
