marty -> RE: 2015 WR's. (9/28/2015 11:57:23 PM)

I expect the Bears to be the worst team in the NFL, but maybe they surprise and Fox gets them to play well in the regular season. I expect them to miss Marshall, so Jeffries will probably end up getitng hurt, so they win 3 or 4 games tops. The Lions should go backwards with last year being a little bit of a fluke and Suh gone.

The Vikes could challenge the Pack, but I think Rodgers is too good, the Vikes fall a tad short. I have the Vikes losing to the Packers backups in the last game, but I am rethinking that, and the Vikes with Teddy should probably WIN that game, especially if the playoffs are on the line, so the Vikes go 10-6, a WC berth. The Packers should win 11 or 12 games. It sucks they got Jones, but he'll probably be more depth, as I expect Adams to take up the slack.

So far the Vikes are right on track for the 10-6 I predicted, after amending and giving the Vikes the win over the Packers' backups the last game of the season. The season has gone record wise exactly the way I expected for the Vikes, except I didn't think they would lose that badly to the 49ers.

I think I am right about the Bears being the worst team in the NFL, and the Lions taking a step backwards. I was wrong about Jones, he is a major weapon for the Pack, Adams sucks.

I predict that if the Vikings win against Denver we will have a lot of happy Vikings fans predicting Playoffs and some even SuperBowl.

I am already there! Vikings 30 Broncos 20

I would be really pumped if we scored 30 points against the Broncos.

marty -> RE: 2015 WR's. (9/29/2015 11:11:31 PM)

I am going to stick with my before season prediction of a loss to Denver, I hoping it will be closer than what I had predicted, I think it was 31-16.

I think Manning plays many of his better games early on in seasons, especially at home. Considering the Vikes struggled against Kap, they are likely to struggle on the road even more with Manning. IF Denver has found a good HC, they are a SB contender. I think their previous HC had no balls and would take a knee in a playoff game, and now he's running Chicago into the ground.

I'm hoping the Vikes make it closer than that, they might as the defense seems to be playing well, Peterson is running well, and Bridgewater might be due for a better game.

Most of the time, at the end of a season, when you look back at teams scores for a season, the scores sort of make sense as to the records of the teams they played, and where the game was played. When there are scores that are a little puzzling, perhaps like the 49ers game, it sometimes get sort of correct in the next week or too, like an underperformance followed by the team over-performing a little bit to sort of balance things out. The Vikes make have made that correction by beating SD handily, and now we're back to about the middle, where the Vikes, a team that is growing, will probably lose on the road to Denver. However, if it's shown by the end of the year that SD really isn't a very good team, and SD only wins a few games, then the correction for SF will take place this week, and the Vikes go in and beat Denver by about 17.

Bill Jandro -> RE: 2015 WR's. (9/30/2015 9:22:25 AM)

Agree, he is much, much better early when his pitch count for the season is still low.

Hopefully Zim can come up with a scheme to rattle him. Manning owned Zim defenses while in Cinn though.

John Fox is not a bad coach. He led Carolina to the Superbowl. And they damn near won it. Also took Denver to the Superbowl.

He inherited a cluster **** gigantic shitpile of a mess in Chicago. It will take time for him to turn that trainwreck around.

El Duderino -> RE: 2015 WR's. (9/30/2015 12:54:46 PM)

I think Fox is a very good organizational coach, and is very good with fundamentals. However, he is a horribly conservative coach - no killer instinct, and too much risk aversion. Clock management has also been a real achilles heel for him. He's a good choice to rebuild a team that's in shambles, but I think it unlikely that he'll ever hoist the Lombardi.

Hard to say. He did coach two teams there. One with Jake Delhomme as QB. and came within a last minute fg by Vinateri of winning it.

It's not like the Patriots dominated them that game...

marty -> RE: 2015 WR's. (10/1/2015 12:52:21 AM)

I think Duderino made some great points. Sure Fox was close with Carolina, but maybe he lacks killer instinct, and Carolina was in the game not because of his coaching, but because of athletic play of some of his players like Steve Smith, Muhsin Muhammed (?), Julius Peppers, etc ....

There are probably several good HCs that can get a good regular season out of a team, maybe win a playoff game, but are unlikely to ever hoist a Lombardi because they lack something like killer instinct, attention to detail, quick thinking, discipline, brains, etc .... For example, Mike Tice, Jack Del Rio, Denny Green, John Fox, Andy Reid, Marvin Lewis, Jim Harbaugh, etc ....

Let's hope Mike Zimmer doesn't fall into that category.

Before I make any projections for wins and losses next year...I am first going to ask which game the crew is going to.
