Rob Viking -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/11/2013 1:35:30 PM)

Denver 31 Baltimore 20
Broncos win this one comfortably. They take a quarter to get going as the Ravens jump to a 10-7 lead, but they reel off 24 unanswered. Baltimore socres a late TD to flatter the score.

SF 23 GB 20
49ers get to Rodgers, Nelson and Cobb just aren't right and Keapernick does enough. Crabtree has another big game. Moss gets a TD and Gore runs for 100+yds.

Atlanta 27 Seattle 17
The Falcons well rested get up early on Seattle 17-0, Wilson can't complete the comeback. Falcons usually start off strong while the Seahawks take a quarter or so to get going, it will prove to be their demise this time.

NE 34 Hou 27
Houston puts up a fight. There was time in the MNF blowout that they held the Pats offense under control until Stallworth of all people ended it. Schaub makes the mistake in the end getting picked off with the Texans driving for the game tying score.

Denver 30 Baltimore 27 OT

I think Denver will miss a TD pass in OT, kick a FG. Then they'll luck out because Flacco will miss out on a game winning TD, and Tucker will a tying FG in OT.

GB 30 SF 20

GB will surprisingly go conservative, as the 49ers did when they beat GB in game 1. Kaepernick will throw a couple of crucial picks in the 2nd half. I think the Packers WILL pass heavy on their 1st drive, get a 7-0 lead, and lead the whole game. I think they'll go conservative after the 1st drive, running heavily, with screens and dumpoffs mixed in. IF the Packers have the ball 1st in the 2nd half, I think you'll see a drive where the Packers run the ball almost every play, and then get a TD with a short pass.

Atlanta 34 Seattle 17

I just think Atlanta is due for a playoff win, they'll put it all in this one, only to lose the following week to GB. Ryan is going to play one of his best games, facing little pass rush. Seattle runs out of gas, they haven't been a great road team so one road win in the playoffs is about all they've got. I think the inexperienced Wilson will throw some picks that will be the Seahags demise.

NE 38 Hou 13

This is the only game where I think there could be an upset, as I don't think most people would see it coming. Houston would need a huge game from Foster, some INTs from their 2ndary. This one has the makings of an upset because after their last meeting, most people will think Houston doesn't have a chance in this one. I think it will take a 'sway' for Houston to pull the upset, they'll likely have to let their 2ndary get away with contact and call no holds when Foster gets a good run. But NE typically gets favorable officiating at home, so I'm going to stick with NE winning, and coming off a bye they should be fresh and scoring points for a comfortable win. I think Schaub is going to allow himself to get hurt early in this game, and he'll miss most of the game.

NE
Denver
Seattle - upset pick
GB

marty -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/12/2013 11:16:37 AM)

Eric, we agree on 3 out of 4.

I was going with Seattle originally, but I think they may run out of gas. Maybe I'm just HOPING they do, so GB doesn't get to beat them in Lambau next week. I do NOT want GB getting some sort of 'redemption' because of a blown replacement official call at the end of a game, when all the fans ignore that GB got the BENEFIT of a few bad calls and non-calls that put them in a position to win that game, or rather put Seattle in a position where they needed to score to win the game.

I think it hurt Seattle that they lost their best pass rusher, but they DO have good cover guys, so some coverage sacks might be available. I like they way they play physical and punch people in the mouth, and that MIGHT work for another week, I just don't think they'll get by GB, but I COULD see them beating SF.

Agreed....however looking at the schedule Atlanta played, I don't think Seattle is an upset pick. They have been playing better and better football as the season progressed! I think they are primed for a huge run!

Eric K -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/12/2013 2:19:12 PM)

I picked Seattle as much because they have the most balanced and consistent team.  Those teams are the teams that make runs in the playoffs.  I just dont see it in ATL.

Guest -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/12/2013 2:34:38 PM)

I'm taking all the home teams to win by at least 1.

Way too early to get nervous.

Flacco throws a lot of deep passes. I'm surprised Denver didn't defend that better.

JT2 -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/12/2013 3:54:59 PM)

Well, not an ideal start.

Silver lining, Packers lose and Manning loses.

Looks like I'll have to chase the money back tomorrow.

69in09 -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/13/2013 6:07:18 PM)

I usually enjoy games that Brian Billick does the color commentary on.

Today he was awful, on multiple occasions he was confused on the down and once he even admitted that forgot about an Atlanta TD and didn't know the correct margin. He rarely showed insight and several times said things that didn't make football sense. I honestly thought that maybe he had some type of mental ailment.

Then I read to today he was interviewing for the Eagles job. He was so distracted in the broadcast I got to believe he's "all in" for that job.

So my bold prediction for the week is he'll be announced the Eagle coach early this week.

marty -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/13/2013 8:57:37 PM)

Picked Atlanta and NE right, but Seattle put up a better fight than I thought they would, and easily could have won the game. Seattle would have been better off if their TD didn't count, and if they could have been stopped one more time to run the clock nearly out. I think Atlanta was lucky there was that much time left on the clock, and they took advantage. It could be argued that Seattle deserved to win based on Wilson's play.

Ricky J -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/13/2013 9:01:15 PM)

I went 4-0 this week. The Balt game put me on top of my pool. What do you think, SF, NE, NE for the money?

Rob Viking -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/14/2013 9:19:08 AM)

3-1 SU but only 1-3 ATS.

Really though I can't explain this Seahawk team. They look inept for large portions of the game but they always find a groove by the 4th quarter.

The Broncos will be thinking about that game for a long time. Probably the closest thing I've seen a game like the 98 NFCCG, really feel for the Denver fans.

The 49ers absolutely destroyed the Pack. The Pack are good at one thing, while the 49ers are strong in all phases.

Thought the Texans would put up a fight and they did somewhat, but they missed some opportunities especially early on when the Pats were kind of asleep.

Rob Viking -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/14/2013 9:21:40 AM)

As for this coming weekend I see the 49ers and Pats winning.

The 49ers are too physical for Atlanta, though the Falcon offense can do some damage but their DLine was totally destroyed by Seattle's OLine in the 2nd half. The 49ers OLine is too good and will certainly gash them.

The Pats will get theirs but the Ravens match up well with them. I could see a close game, for some reason Flacco looks elite vs NE.

I am rooting for the Harbaugh Bowl!

Go Ravens and Niners!!!!

I think the networks would like that too.

Trekgeekscott -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/14/2013 9:56:22 AM)

Actually, as long as the Patriots are not in the SB, I will be happy.

But it would be fun to see the Harbaugh bowl.

So now that my thoughts and dreams are known, the Patriots will play the Falcons and Atlanta will get schooled.

Randy Moss vs Brady & co. would be interesting.

Todd M -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/14/2013 11:46:36 AM)

Indeed Don.

I totally expect the 49rs and the Pats to square off. The Pats to win and Randy to be denied again.

Then for him to switch back to the Pats and lose to the 49rs next year. [;)]

Not really....

Randy moss is about as uninteresting as it gets as a receiver right now.....

I might choose some of our receivers over him right now[:o][:-]

Duane Sampson -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (1/14/2013 1:51:19 PM)

I think the Pats win it all but I'm rooting for Randy all the way.
