A sack and a TD.

Toby Stumbo -> RE:General fantasy football chat (11/26/2007 4:41:28 PM)

I played against Tom Brady in my keeper league this week and I had a good chance of beating him but my backup QB (Bulger) had to get hurt. :angry:

Guest -> RE:General fantasy football chat (11/26/2007 4:53:27 PM)

I have benched all my players , oh well... maybe next year...

Lynn G. -> RE:General fantasy football chat (11/26/2007 4:58:46 PM)

I don't believe you Dan. If you actually DID bench all your players, no one, and I mean absolutely NO ONE would let you join their league ever again.

Toby Stumbo -> RE:General fantasy football chat (11/26/2007 5:00:05 PM)

Fantasy quitters suck!!! Don't quit Dan. Play upset like I'm doing in the 20 team league.

Guest -> RE:General fantasy football chat (11/26/2007 5:14:03 PM)

I didnt bench them this week lynn.. i have benched them all next week.. neither I nor my opponent stand a chance of making the playoffs... so its season over....besides... i could just release all my players and pick up dirt....or draft like Lowber It was fun, but watchin people who have done this before stockpile good players and keep them on the bench just so others have no shot at them kinda sours me on the whole fantasy owner thing.

Tim Cady -> RE:General fantasy football chat (11/26/2007 6:13:47 PM)

Whaa! There is risk to stockpiling players. Sometimes the you don't have enough roster spots and you drop someone that helps someone else while you wait for stockpile to get in the lineup. I picked up Fargas and Young(rbs) early and sat them for weeks, finally during my qb bye week I had to let go of Fargas, he has since become the starter in Oakland and had a great day yesterday. Meanwhile, Young, who finally starts playing over Henry, gets injured and another flash from nowhere Hall, takes over. Then in my 12 teamer - I drafted Maroney, Portis(over AD, and I was on the fence, 4th round), and Jamal Lewis. None of them could stay healthy and when they did, outside of Portis, put up no numbers. So I pick up Young and Grant. Now they are performing, but I can't seem to pick the best 2 of the 5 to start each week. I finally got Lewis to perform in my lineup, he usually performs on my bench and does nothing when I start him. This week Portis did nothing and Grant lit it up on my bench. Young was injured. You can call that stockpiling, but there have still been weeks where only one of the 5 has performed. Meanwhile I had to drop my backup tight end - Lee, who has been better than my starter, Witten the last 4 weeks. I agree with the others play it out. Whatever you do, do not drop all your players for some playoff team to gain an advantage. In fact if you have a waiver order in your league, you should be scouting the best Hot guys and trying to add them.

Mark Duda -> RE:General fantasy football chat (12/6/2007 7:37:04 PM)

FF is gonna suck for us Viking fans next season. This year, it's a good bet that most of us not playing in Viking-fan leagues have AP on our rosters, and considering the fact that he was available in rounds 4 through 7 in most leagues (I grabbed him with the first pick of round 2 in my $$ league... thank you very much), those of us with AP are probably playoff bound. Next year only 1 10th of us lucky enough to get the first overall pick are gonna have AP. I'm gonna hate facing Peterson next year!!! BTW, just to brag a bit... I'm in a HIGHLY competitive $$$ league with 9 extremely knowledgeable guys. I am in 1st by a landslide (12-1) because of this awesome line-up ( I had a VERY good draft for picking 10th out of 10) in the order I picked them: Westbrook AP Brady L. Fitzgerald Braylon Edwards M. Barber III L. Evans K. Winslow

Lynn G. -> RE:General fantasy football chat (12/6/2007 7:39:11 PM)

Mark - how much money are you in line to win?

Mark Duda -> RE:General fantasy football chat (12/6/2007 7:55:42 PM)

Not much. There are only 10 of us this year and we put in $50 each. I'm not sure of the distribution, but I know the 1st and 2nd place finishers get cash, and I think the 3rd place guy doesn't have to pay the $50 fee... I wouldn't know since I've never even made the playoff in previous years. :P Something like $300 for 1st, $150 for second.

Lynn G. -> RE:General fantasy football chat (12/6/2007 8:02:41 PM)

Sweet! It'll pay the bar bills from the holidays. :D

Tim Cady -> RE:General fantasy football chat (12/6/2007 9:58:47 PM)

Lynn what do you hear out of Green Bay? Farve or Nall? Does Grant get work against Oaktown? Ask the hubby! I need to know if my second rb this week is Grant or Portis in the 12 teamer.

Northland Lurkers -> RE:General fantasy football chat (12/6/2007 9:59:07 PM)

In the 6 leagues I'm in; made the platyoffs in 5. The one league I didn't make the playoff in... I have the worst record in the league. Go figure; and good luck to all!

Tim Cady -> RE:General fantasy football chat (12/6/2007 10:20:10 PM)

Northland, I gotta ask, Why did you claim TJack on waivers this week? To keep me from getting him? :nodding: I have no backup qb heading to the playoffs so I put a claim in, only to be trumphed by you! :scream: So I was forced to pick up Boller. I figured if I didn't pick one up Palmer would get hurt this week and I would be without anything if I made the playoffs, which is not guaranteed. I have to win or KA has to lose for me to be guaranteed a spot.

Northland Lurkers -> RE:General fantasy football chat (12/6/2007 10:42:23 PM)

I play to win every week - regardless of being in/out of the playoff picture. Besides; I dont trust Eli Manning OR McNabb right now. :beer:
Northland, I gotta ask, Why did you claim TJack on waivers this week?
Lynn what do you hear out of Green Bay? Farve or Nall? Does Grant get work against Oaktown? Ask the hubby! I need to know if my second rb this week is Grant or Portis in the 12 teamer.
We did talk a little bit about this stuff. There is absolutely no doubt that Favre starts this week, but if he goes out again with an injury, Rodgers is out with a hammy, so Nall would go in. Apparently he's been taking a lot of snaps with the first team in practice this week to get him quickly back on track, but I would be very surprised if that offense could do much more than hand off to Grant if Nall goes in. That said - the odds are that the ten days have been plenty of time for Favre to heal and he'll play it out. As to the RB's - yep, I'll bet Grant gets a lot of carries against Oakland. I know that last year Oakland's defense actually played pretty well, but I haven't followed them much this year. How is their running defense, do you know? And as far as Brian knows, Woodson will sit out another week, which makes sense because he's more important to them in the postseason. As far as injuries go - they've actually been REALLY blessed compared to the rest of the NFL.

Mark Duda -> RE:General fantasy football chat (12/7/2007 12:43:22 AM)

Not sure of the exact numbers (too lazy to look it up) but Oakland's rush defense is horrible this year. Close to last if not dead last. Teams have been running wild on the Raiders... damn near any RB in the league facing the Raiders is worth a starting spot on your FF team.

Tim Cady -> RE:General fantasy football chat (12/7/2007 2:21:17 AM)

Thanks Mark and Lynn. I need all the points I can get, this week and my choices are Jamal Lewis(been great the last month) against the Jets - Should be huge. Portis(emotional) at the Bears. - He has run for 125 everytime he has played the bears and then Grant, who I like against the Raiders. I am going with Grant andLewis.Portis, is going to do well tonight, one site has him as a top 5 runningback this week. Of course, yahoo,whom I think ranks guys pretty well have grant 4 and lewis 6 and portis 10 this week. Hopefully they all do well and there is no bad choice. My 1st round pick runningback is Maroney, he hasn't been off the bench since week 5 or 6.

I'm looking for some sympathy here. In both the pay leagues I play in I made the playoffs. That's great right? Well, in both leagues I get to play against Tom Brady in the first round and to top that off, in one league the guy has Randy Moss and in the other the guy has AD. I'm so screwed!!! 3rd place here I come!!! :lol:

But in my pay league it's a 15 week season with 4 teams making the playoffs. I'm 12-2 right now and got the top seed locked up. But there's a mess of 8-6 and 7-7 teams fighting for that 4th spot. The most likely candidate for seed #4? The team with Brady AND Moss. Who do they play week 16 first round of the playoffs? 0-14 Miami. Yikes! Good luck with ya!

DeLain -> RE:General fantasy football chat (12/13/2007 6:02:09 PM)

I got this problem in my money league..... Pick 2: Adrian Peterson against Chicago Westbrook at Dallas Addai at Oakland Jamal Lewis against Buffalo

Lynn G. -> RE: RE:General fantasy football chat (12/26/2007 5:01:32 PM)

Fantasy Football is over and it's been a roller-coaster of a season.  In the three leagues I played (and lost) in, the winners were:

Toby Stumbo
Tim Cady
Radiersz2 (not sure who that is)

Congratulations to you guys and others who won their leagues.  This was an odd season in that in the early months the running backs were barely getting any points for their teams and some of the defenses were earning negative points.  Goofy, silly stuff people!

Let's do it again next year!

Toby Stumbo -> RE: RE:General fantasy football chat (12/26/2007 5:29:27 PM)

I beat the all-mighty auto drafter?  YAY (haven't had a chance to check yet)

Guest -> RE: RE:General fantasy football chat (12/26/2007 8:00:21 PM)

I am in the final of my "Marine League" this season.  Its only a yahoo league but we've  been doing it for about 12 years now.  My second time in the finals.  Ive been lucky enough to have Moss AND Brady on my team so Im hoping they really go out and get those records this weekend!
