I was shocked. I expected a "Dallas" type vibe when I went to the Wild game there last year. The streets were packed with Lighting wearing crowds. We took it to them pretty well that night and when I left their fans were legitimately pissed they lost. It wasn't like other non-hockey cities where they walk out talking about the fights and not caring.

Wow, you nail 90% of the visiting teams town we have been to also.
Cool to hear
Thanks for the perspective
As you said, its an easy game to love when you see the willingness of the players to give all.
Sounds like we need to go to Tampa for one.

I'd recommend it. Tampa is a nice city.

Mr. Ed -> RE: General NHL Talk (9/30/2020 11:24:36 AM)

The New York Rangers have bought out the final year of star goaltender Henrik Lundqvist's contract to end his 15-year career with the team.

"Few players have been as important to the Rangers franchise as Henrik Lundqvist, and we are incredibly grateful for all he has done for our organization," Rangers owner James Dolan said in a statement. "Over his 15-year tenure, he not only established himself as one of the best goaltenders to ever play the game, he has also been one of hockey's fiercest competitors and most effective ambassadors. He will always be a part of the Rangers family."

Lundqvist, 38, will become an unrestricted free agent, joining a crowded market of veteran goaltenders when the signing period begins Oct. 9.

Going to be a BUNCH of legit NHL goalies available
Most of them old
Scary and not smart to go after one, I get it … but someone will, and will be rewarded for it.

TJSweens -> RE: General NHL Talk (9/30/2020 1:09:54 PM)

The question is whether or not you have a roster that makes it worth taking a run at one of them. In the case of our hometown lads, I would say probably not.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General NHL Talk (9/30/2020 1:15:11 PM)

Yeap. Stay out of that boat for now. We don't have the legs and you don't know if it's a Titanic or not.

TJSweens -> RE: General NHL Talk (9/30/2020 1:34:41 PM)

My first choice is still to throw Kappo into the fire next year and see what we have.

joejitsu -> RE: General NHL Talk (10/11/2020 11:15:37 AM)

First Crawford gets the boot, now Saad gets traded for two middling defensemen. I think this might mean that Seabrook or (God forbid) Keith are being moved out, too.

Sounds like a youth movement just like the Wild. At least your older guys brought you some Cups in their prime.

I keep having to remind myself that, but the thought of rebuilding is upsetting! It has to happen sometime, though.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL Talk (10/13/2020 1:24:55 PM)

Toews is in your boat joe
Seems pretty upset that the rebuild is on, and he wasn't told
Pissed that Crow and Saad were jettisoned without him knowing about it
I've seen Subban play a lot of G and never been impressed (which means about 3 more Cups for you probably since I said that out loud) [:o]

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL Talk (10/13/2020 1:30:56 PM)

Top 5 FAs still available

* Mike Hoffman
* Evgeni Dadonov
* Sami Vatanen
* Mikael Granlund
* Alex Galchenyuk

Hoffman the only one I'd take a flyer on

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL Talk (10/13/2020 1:35:46 PM)

Joe .. I see Anderson, Howard, Miller, and Schneider are all still FA goalies that the Blackhawks are mentioned with.
So you might not be tied down to Subban yet.

There is some smoke here with a couple of those guys, but the "brain trust" seems to be comfortable moving forward with Subban and Delia. And they did not sign Koekkoek and Caggiula after both of them showed some big flashes last year. I don't see a real plan, either with rebuilding or reloading. And, you were right about Toews actually speaking out about it. It sounds like Crawford was not even contacted by the team. Bowman called his agent, who informed him of the news.

twinsfan -> RE: General NHL Talk (10/16/2020 12:35:11 PM)

Happy birthday joejitsu!

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL Talk (10/16/2020 12:43:58 PM)

Hell yes
HBD joe

You've been a good influence on me
I never in a million years thought I could like Blackhawks fan, but you broke the glass my friend. [:D]

joejitsu -> RE: General NHL Talk (10/16/2020 1:16:20 PM)

Thanks, guys! I actually forgot today was my birthday until my wife and kids gave me presents this a.m. A scale and a 12 pack of Yeungling! Talk about a South Side birthday celebration. I appreciate the kind words, SoMn.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL Talk (10/16/2020 1:37:06 PM)

Seems to be a common refrain for most of over-40 types
Whats your birthday like?

uhhh, the most uncomfy day of the year? [:D]

twinsfan -> RE: General NHL Talk (10/16/2020 6:49:26 PM)

Congrats joejitsu. You got happy birthday wishes from the 2 nicest guys on this board (I'm not biased).

Good company, for sure! Thanks, guys. 53 years old when I was a kid was ancient to me. Now, it doesn't feel so old at all!
