Id swear Adam Foote was playing when I was a kid, and I'm older than dirt.
Amazing how long some of these guys have been around.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (4/17/2010 1:08:17 AM)

Sharks finally get the most needed goal in franchise history.
They can breathe now for a day or two ....

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (4/17/2010 7:34:35 PM)

Bad night /day for ex-Gophs
Leo gets knocked out of the Pens win last night, Vanek gets hooked out of the Sabres loss today.
Tightest opening rounds ever, that I can remember.
Every one is up for grabs.

Wow, what a game ...
Caps fall down 4-1, could have easily rolled over and went down 2-0, but fought back and won it OT on Backstroms OT goal.
Ovie with a goal and a playmaker (3 assists) tonight. Series getting nasty, that will be a dogfight right down to the wire.
Like you said the ohter day, Jeff... HTH does Ovie go an entire game without a shot?
One of the weirdest stats of all time, imo. So involved, so active, just a weird outcome.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General NHL (4/18/2010 10:28:28 AM)

No way the Caps make it to the finals this year.  How can they be so loaded with stars and trot those goalies out there?  Theodore is total garbage.  Too bad.  It would fun to see OV8 lift the cup.   Nucks lose too?  Great night [8|]

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General NHL (4/18/2010 10:29:32 AM)

Another thing that I noticed, at times, during the season but is no totally clear.  We are really lacking in team speed.  Did you notice the tempo of the Caps/Habs or Nucks/Kings [:-]

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (4/18/2010 8:01:13 PM)

Huge wins for Phoenix and Philly today.
Couple good ones tonight.
Looks like Pitt will take back home-ice. [X(]

Man, this Avs club has gotten very good, very quickly.
Scoreless heading to OT

Chicago took back some swagger.
Some huge Game 4s coming up, some teams cannot afford to lose them.
Fun stuff.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (4/18/2010 11:48:20 PM)

Sharks score on themselves
In the playoffs
In overtime

Oh, my [:-]

They simply have never met a playoff series they can't F-up.

Great point, Jeff.
These series are being played (as I like to tell our players) ....
Like their hair is on fire.
The Wild definitely need an upgrade there. I think the younger guys we saw late in the year are capable of doing that.
Lets hope we keep heading that direction.

It's unreal man.  Every freaking year [&:]

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (4/19/2010 7:34:59 PM)

Looks like the Caps have finally stopped sleep-walking.
Kicking ass so far tonight.

Great start to Boston/Buffalo, thats an evenly matched dogfight.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General NHL (4/19/2010 7:46:04 PM)

Just got in.  B's on Versus, good game like you called.  At least I get to watch the 3rd.  Caps series is over.  That opening loss pissed them off.  BB is a good coach and doesn't get enough credit.  Come on Kings!! [:D]

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (4/19/2010 8:28:55 PM)

Amazes me how the Caps got so good so fast.
I was into them the last couple years, and kinda took a year off ... suddenly, they are the '80s Oilers.
I mean EVERYONE in the know says they will easily win the Cup if they stay motivated.
I don't agree, their weaknesses are exactly the things that cost you playoff series.
Weak tending, way-too-offensive defensemen, and no shut-down defenders.
I want them to win it all, just not sure why they are suddenly "by far the most talented".
I give that title to the Sharks, and then, the Hawks, and then Detroit, and then the Caps.
But thats just me.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (4/19/2010 9:16:43 PM)

Damn, losing Vanek is killing the Sabres right now.

Kings hang on to defeat 'Nucks.
Awesome.
I could really start liking that King squad, with all that young talent. Johnson and Doughty rock.
Unis suck, tho. [:D]

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General NHL (4/20/2010 10:57:22 AM)

Yeap, those uniforms need to be burned.  Loved the win though.  Anytime Luongo gets pulled it's a glorious night [:D].  Agree on the Caps.  They'll get by the Habs but will lose before the finals.  Their keepers are atrocious.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (4/20/2010 7:59:20 PM)

I'm honestly very neutral on Sens/Penguins, but watching that one early turned my stomach.
Pitt gets the Yankee/RedSox treatment from refs.
Frustrating as hell to watch. Someone wants Pitt to win, imo.
Not saying thats the only reason they do well, just sayin what I see from the outside.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (4/20/2010 9:01:16 PM)

Dead wrong so far on Devils/Philly, that series is over.
Pens and Red Wings re-establish dominance tonight.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (4/20/2010 10:54:23 PM)

The Preds, baby!
Sweet win.
This Avs/Sharks thing just KILLS me.
I just keep saying ... soon, they will just rise up and CRUSH these guys.
Nope.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (4/21/2010 12:46:37 AM)

Hair of your chinny chin chin, Sharkies! [:-]

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (4/22/2010 12:10:39 AM)

Arghhhh!
Thought the Sabres would climb back in. Had it.
They rank with the Vikings as one of the most cursed franchises in history. Just can never buy a break.
Washington takes control
Kings falter, that sucks.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General NHL (4/22/2010 9:48:45 AM)

Yup, a few of these series took a major swing last night.  They are over IMO.  Too bad for the Sabres as you mention.  Losing Vanek was the nail in the coffin for them.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (4/23/2010 8:38:03 AM)

Dead-ass-wrong about The Devils.
Pretenders. Philly crushed them.
GREAT game in Pitt last night, loved how Ottawa hunbg in there.
Extremely young, if somehow they don't screw that team up, look out.
They've got a shot to win that series after that marathon last night.
Pitt looked slow and tired.
Preds can't stop the bleeding long enough to get ahead, got work to do.
Chicago has really taken momentum back there.
The Shark Machine came to life last night.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (4/23/2010 10:13:26 PM)

Couple huge wins for Montreal and Buffalo tonight.
Love it when teams that could fold do not.
Down 3-1 in a series reveals a teams character. They either quit or fight harder than ever.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (4/24/2010 10:51:11 AM)

Dang, the Canucks edge closer to burying the Kings.
And the Red Wings will just never go away quietly.

MarkWren -> RE: General NHL (4/25/2010 9:59:40 AM)

Hoping Vanek can come back and torch the Bruins. Do not like that Boston franchise, never have. Dates back to the Sanderson era with the North Stars. Thugs.

Man after my own thoughts. right on.
I've never gotten over that hatred.
Would love to see the Sabres get it done.
