UNBELIEVABLE night of hockey. Phlyers keep rolling. Bostons collars keep getting tighter and tighter and tighter. In a short couple of days, the Boston Bruins went from * worrying about what to do with all the off-days they were looking at once they swept Philly * planning for Pittsburgh and how they would finally shake years of disappointment to * hanging on for dear life * planning on how to explain (for the rest of their careers) how they blew a 3-0 lead in a best-of-seven My what a difference a couple days make. What a huge blown opportunity to turn their fortunes around. They had their city transfixed on them, they had gotten the buzz back, and now, it is gone. Montreal, what can you say. Loved every minute of that game. Man, what a feeling for them. I know some hockey, and I know what a wonderful player Crosby was/is/will be, but just not a fan of his. Loved what the Habs were able to do, to go into enemy territory and play like they expected to win. I've always doubted Fleury, and tonight, he was brutal. (yes, he has a Stanley Cup, still don't know how) He's just never impressed me. Halak may disappear tomorrow and never be heard from again, but wow, was he something this past month. So solid, so steady, he stands in the face of rushes like no other. So fun that motreal moves on, good for them. And for a couple of personal digs ... Re: Matt Cooke .... you can change unis all you want, you're still one of my most un-favorite pricks of all time. Going after Gill's injury tonight during the scrum, nice and cheap, just like you've always been. What an ass. He may be the one guy who could put on a Wild sweater, and I'd still despise him. And ... I've watched hockey for almost 50 years, and I've never seen a more puzzling couple of efforts than Gonchar put out there tonight. When you watch highlights, watch a couple of the Hab goals with him on the ice (#55 for the Pens) Calling him a traffic cone would be a disservice to a traffic cone. He flat-out stopped competing in the biggest game of the year. His lack of effort on Montreals 4th goal woudl have earned him a tongue-lashing in an over-50 bar league game. It's mind-blowing. Watch him today if you can. Sure looks to me like the Western teams will rip apart anyone who comes from the east, but I guess thats why we play them out, eh?
