ORIGINAL: MarkWren What I thought we were trying to do was wear Osorio down. And we darn near did! But after the first time through our lineup, having taken a TON of pitches & drawn a BB or two, I expected us to revert to yesterday's form and begin to hack, hard, at the first close pitch we saw. But nope. We just stood there and kept watching hittable pitches fly on by. It was weird...kept waiting for us to spring the trap, and it never happened. Thought Sara was the far more polished pitcher, today. She made a lot of hitters look like stone cold fools up there. Sad to see the screwing at the end, but most of us (MN fans) know that old familiar feeling--blow early chances to knock 'em out--only to see it slip away late. Last comment, perhaps will ruffle some feathers: women's athletics still has a LONG way to go, in terms of the professionalism of the production on the field and in the booth. The umps were brutal. The announcing was shoddy, often misinformed. The camera work--repeatedly showing replays of pitches that were uneventful or obviously not controversial--left a LOT to be desired. I don't watch more than a few Gopher women's hockey/basketball/softball games per year. Same for the Lynx. Maybe a few volleyball games. But the dropoff in quality between the men's & women's coverage is stark. I think it's a disservice to the ladies. Thanks for the perspective I'm so used to just watching the game, am used to all of that.
