One of my all-time favorites. He was a true man among boys.

MDK -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (3/21/2019 1:33:25 PM)

Very very nice win by the Gophers.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (3/21/2019 1:36:17 PM)

86-76 final

Win probability for the Gophers on the SMF Gamecast currently at 41% !!!

No doubt they were inspired by the recent successes of those plucky Dakotans. [;)]

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (3/21/2019 1:38:53 PM)

I would have bet a million dollarsthe Gophers couldn't score 86 against me and four dudes at the Y.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (3/21/2019 2:11:06 PM)

Our boy Corleone made the trip down there!
Good call Chris!

They shot the 3 well above their season average today. 32% for the year, 41% today. That will be a hard level of over performance to sustain.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (3/21/2019 2:17:24 PM)

Kalscheur scored more points in 40 minutes than he did in three games during the Big Ten tournament.
Louisville: Despite dropping his first NCAA Tournament game with the Cardinals, coach Chris Mack's future looks bright at Louisville -- especially if Jordan Nwora (10 points, 11 rebounds) returns next season. Louisville got no help in the game location, less than 250 miles from Minneapolis, which created a de-facto home game for the Gophers.

yeah, poor poor Louisville ….. boo hoooooooooo

Awwww, dang.

Was not impressed with Louisville in the game I saw them suck ass at Syracuse.

That said, I still didn't thing the Gophers would put on an offensive display.

Goody for you Richie. Probably get a xx year extension now.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (3/21/2019 7:19:00 PM)

They actually (for a change) responded to game situation, took what was given, adapted, and played with poise.

I wish they wouldn't have drawn MSU next round. Not that someone else wouldn't have been just as tough, just kind of boring to see another Big 10 matchup.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (3/21/2019 7:55:48 PM)

Bill Murray was at the game. His son is an assistant coach for Louisville, who knew?

Once again Murray found himself in familiar territory. With a vendetta against Gophers.

Ba-dum-bum!
He's here all week, folks!
Try the veal!!!!!

That was a good one, Karl ….

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (3/22/2019 7:11:21 AM)

Agree on the MIch State match …. bleh.
ANYONE but them, please.
Expecting another yawner like what happened against Michigan on the weekend "we're just happy to be here"

Kalscheur and his 24 pts just flipped me the bird …. "only two guys, hunh, mo-fo?"

He really came to play yesterday, if being dissed by you is what it takes, keep on dissing dude.

Phil Riewer -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (3/22/2019 7:48:51 AM)

They basically stuck MN, MSU, and Maryland in the same bracket...

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (3/22/2019 8:31:33 AM)

Louisville isn't overly big, so they didn't pose us much of a matchup problem with the exception of Enoch was a beast inside. They used that to their advantage quite a bit, but should have done more. Their guards weren't huge and didn't cause us much problem shooting over them. When they decided to pack in the lane early and make us shoot threes we got hot and stayed hot. We missed too many FT's but did enough other things well that it didn't cost us.

Mich St. isn't huge either, not on paper anyway. We played them once in early Feb on their floor. Murphy and Coffey were non-factors and we were embarrassed. Time for some payback.

With 6'4" Gabe, 6'5" McBrayer, and 6'7" Coffey as the wings, guards, pg...there is always a matchup one of the three can take adavantage of....not many college teams can matchup with that length.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (3/22/2019 8:54:55 AM)

Anyone else around during the Gophers real BB heyday?
I'll never forget
Olberding-Landsberger-Winey-Thompson up front.
Speaking of massive.

I see Purdue has kind of gone back to that, loaded up with length and heighth

Was a fun little 24 hr jaunt down to Iowa, there were lots of Gopher fans in Des Moines.

The fact that I'm already back should tell you what I think of their chances tomorrow... [&:] Wouldn't want to risk sullying my now 2-0 record when attending Gopher NCAA tournament games (1-0 "officially").

(The full story of the other game is a good one, which needs to be told over a couple beers. I'll tease it by just saying "Bobby Jackson".) [;)]

I was at the Barn for Thompson and Winey (and McHale!), but Olberding and Landsberger were just before my time.

I started with the Mussy era. Brewer, Behagen, Turner, Taylor, Nix and of course Dave the Rave Winfield.

Wow
Kept thinking … I'm leaving "someone" out … Kevin wouldn't be happy.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Gopher Basketball (Mens) (3/22/2019 11:21:58 AM)

My first game at the barn was Mchale's freshman year. Thompson was a Jr I think.

Ray Williams and Osborne Lockhart on that team too. Quite a team...but they apparently went 0-27 [:@]
