Just curious: why is it when you finish a thread and come back later with or without any new posts it takes you back to where you last started instead of remembering where you were at?

I found that there is a quirk with this site that whenever I finish all the threads in one forum (i.e. Vikes Talk) I need to click on the "Mark this forum Read" button. Only then will it seem to process what I have read and bring me back to the end of that each time.

I don't know why that is - but it seems to work.

After each visit, when I've caught up on all my reading, I automatically click on "Mark All Forums Read" just as a way to "clear" everything.

I do what Lynn does but I also logout.  That works every time.  You can always reset last visit time when you log in to when you left the previous time.

I always mark forums read and delete all cookies. Never fails. But you have to log in everytime you come back. 10 seconds for this, of course. [;)]

But a related/opposite problem I have is that if I log out without having read everything - when I log back on it takes me to the end, as if I had read posts that I really haven't. So I never log out with any threads left unread.

True, and if I don't finish reading them, I just don't mark them all read. Dunno, I'm just used to it, I guess.

I make sure to read everything before logging out or just reset last visit time if I don't, I always log out (habit).

The site is screwy tonight. It won't let you go to last post read, but rather keeps taking me to the first post on the first page of a thread.

Marked all forums read / deleted all cookies / logged off / logged back in. The first 2 times it didn't work. Third time was a charm.

And now it's gone right back to doing the same thing. When I click all forums read nothing happens.

Have you cleared your cache yet?  Cleaning the cookies doesn't always do the trick by itself.

I always clear the cache when I close out. The problem seems to have gone away on its own.
