Meanwhile, Wisconsin continues to make a mockery of the Big10
MOWING thru people.

Wisconsin was a very solid program to begin with and they absolutely hit the lottery in getting Wilson this year. He is what really seperates the Badgers from the other teams in the Big 10.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: Gopher Football (10/20/2011 8:19:04 PM)

Don't you think that he will be playing on Sunday? (high draft pick?)

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/21/2011 2:48:41 PM)

Gophers players say enough is enough and show up to play tomorrow. And shock us all with a win. Just a hunch.

A little incentive for you. Tomorrow is Homecoming and Jerry Kill has never lost a Homecoming game.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (10/21/2011 3:04:25 PM)

homecoming and they schedule Nebraska.  Oh yippie [sm=clown.gif]

Early happy hour today?? No judgment by me, of course!!!

panndder -> RE: Gopher Football (10/22/2011 9:49:15 AM)

I feel like this game will be closer than most expect. Remember USC? Two weeks to prepare and something to prove on homecoming.

Not to say it will happen, but Kill has never lost a Homecoming game

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/22/2011 2:24:20 PM)

Did ABC just go out for anyone else? Colored bars on my screen just before gametime. [X(][X(][X(][X(]

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/22/2011 2:52:34 PM)

Finally ABC comes in.

panndder -> RE: Gopher Football (10/22/2011 3:05:38 PM)

"The backwards pass went forwards" and suddenly a fumble or turnover on downs turns into a first down?

I still don't get it.

It's a stupid rule that maybe will be changed.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/22/2011 3:09:33 PM)

Nice job by the Gophers tackling their own guy on that MN kickoff return.

panndder -> RE: Gopher Football (10/22/2011 3:10:13 PM)

I sort of get it after seeing the post-commercial replay. It's just a bad rule, or a rule that never had a play like that in mind.

How sad is it that the announcer is advocating the Gophers eat up the clock while down 17-0? Sounds like his reasoning is that way the Gophers may have a chance to only lose 31-9 instead of 65-0.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/22/2011 3:37:58 PM)

PATHETIC PATHETIC PATHETIC!!!!

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/22/2011 3:39:08 PM)

Any way we can call that a forward pass by Gray instead of a fumble?

panndder -> RE: Gopher Football (10/22/2011 7:32:53 PM)

Wisconsin can go to hell.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (10/22/2011 8:40:36 PM)

I turned it off at halftime. Couldn't take it. The crew at halftime of the USC-ND game sums it up perfectly.

I don't know whether to feel sorry for MN or be mad at them for being so bad

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/23/2011 11:01:54 AM)

Not as bad as I thought it'd be.
I tip my hat to the Huskers, they were very very gracious.
Coulda poured it on us. They were playing back-ups early and often. We owe you, Bo.
Hopefully someday we can compete. we have no choice.

How the hell did we hang with USC? I've watched a lot of them (closet fan) .... they are turning into a power.
They shredded Notre Dame worse than they did us, by far. That game wasn't as close as the score in South Bend.
I'd swear Barkley was awol that day we played them .. right now he'd light us up for a thousand yards.
Love seeing ND get hammered at home.

And the Wisconsin game re-newed my faith in humanity.
The Badgers held on every play of the night. Not most, every play.
Loved the ending. Thought it was over when MSU went up 14 late, but of course not.
Wisconsin is LOADED and very good., just glad they hit a blip in the road. Hopefully no nat title for them. They'v ehad enough fun over there.

That's what I keep saying. They've had an embarrassment of riches when it comes to sports titles in recent years, so I don't feel one bit bad that they missed out on the world series and lost to Michigan State. Next week they're at Ohio State which should be tough too.

Unfortunately later today they're going to be handed another victory. [X(]

Jerry Kill finally signs that 7-year contract, thus making him the first coach ever to get a seven-year deal with a 1-6 record.

chipscoggins
Gophers announce that Jerry Kill has signed a 7-year contract. School giving him more time to turn program around.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/25/2011 12:19:46 PM)

Had forgotten that contract was just laying there (for Kill)
Does this mean he's digging in and going to see it thru, or has he given up? [:D]

Sure seems to me he's digging in. Like how we see very little smoke-blowing. He just disappears and goes back to work. No false promises.
I'm hoping he is in theprocess of gutting it to the walls and rebuilding from scratch.

I get to see their next QB recruit (from Mankato West) soon. Interested to see how much this kid has improved this year. He was damn good last year already.

David Levine -> RE: Gopher Football (10/25/2011 12:51:02 PM)

Gophers Now
Kill says he needed 7 yrs on his contract because this is a tougher rebuilding job than he and Maturi first thought.

Jim Souhan
Kill stressing improved academics and strengthening players. Says APR will hit this team and makes it tougher to win immediately.

Jim Souhan
Kill says he pushed for 7 years because he realizes how difficult this job will be.

Jim Souhan
Maturi saying academic restrictions could make this a slow process. Admits he didn't expect to be 1-6.
