Lynn G. -> RE: Gopher Football (6/10/2008 3:12:34 PM)

I just read that article.   Tough road for such a young man, but hopefully they can successfully correct the problems and he can live a normal life.

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (6/10/2008 4:22:18 PM)

That sucks for the kid and the program.

Jim Frenette -> RE: Gopher Football (6/10/2008 5:06:24 PM)

I wish him luck also.

So.Mn.Fan -> RE: Gopher Football (6/11/2008 9:42:34 AM)

I'd like to whine about the bad luck cloud we can't shake on this Gopher football team, but that would be unfair to Sam Maresh.
Super kid from all accounts.
Get better, young man.
That's what is important.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Gopher Football (6/17/2008 2:09:58 PM)

Brewster's son is transferring out. Interesting...

Lynn G. -> RE: Gopher Football (6/17/2008 2:54:47 PM)

Could it be because the writing is on the wall that he won't start at quarterback?  That could be good news that we've got two quarterbacks that are better than him.

That has to be the toughest position for a kid to accept a scholarship for. Every year coaches try to up grade that position so they don't get caught with their pants down and a bunch of mediocre QB's

That's precisely what it was. Believe it or not The Shooter finally got one right. He had comments from Tim Brewster several days before his transfer was announced. Brewster senoir pretty much said Clint was no better than #3 on the QB depth chart.

Channel 5 with a great report on Sam Maresh last night.
What a great kid.
Released in a couple days after heart surgery (normally takes weeks)
On the long road to recovery.
If anyone can make it back, he'd be my bet.
Good luck young man.

Didn't see it so thanks for the report. Sounds like the operation was a success since he is home already. That is good news.

That is a great story. I hope he can full fill his dream, but not at the rik of his life. He needs to listen to his Dr and then get another opinion or 2.

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (7/9/2008 11:10:09 AM)

It sounds like they only had to do a minimum amount of bone cutting, which greatly improves his chances of returning.

Jim Frenette -> RE: Gopher Football (8/27/2008 1:30:16 PM)

The BTN and Charter have worked out a contract and we will be watching Gopher Football this year. Comcast was earlier and I think Media is still negotiating

Lynn G. -> RE: Gopher Football (8/27/2008 2:00:27 PM)

Jim,

I've already tuned in to the Big Ten Network a couple of times to see what their broadcast is like.  It looks like it'll be fun to watch.

As for the Gopher football squad, I was disappointed to hear the recruiting class had the lowest ACT scores of the 8 Big Ten teams that made the numbers available.   Early reports of what a good recruiting class this has been for Brewster are now spoiled a bit by this news.   I guess it's tough to keep a high academic standard AND a high athletic standard and hope to win bowl games.

Maybe after a couple of successful seasons and a new stadium our pool of recruits will get even better and we can be more fussy.

Lynn I went through my program guide an hour ago and din't find it, do you have a channel number for me?

I know they advertised last year the games would be on HD, I wonder if Charter will add that?

Lynn G. -> RE: Gopher Football (8/27/2008 2:44:53 PM)

Here we get it on channel 27 which used to be ESPN News (I think).   I don't know about the HD part because we haven't bought an HD TV yet and I don't pay attention to that.

Jim Frenette -> RE: Gopher Football (8/27/2008 2:54:50 PM)

Thanks. 27 is WE here

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (8/27/2008 3:05:31 PM)

Yeah, the one big gripe I had about BTN last year was the feeds.  It wasn't even so much that they weren't HD (I didn't really expect that).  Even the their low def felt....low.

I'm pretty excited they went HD this (at least for me).

DMueller -> RE: Gopher Football (8/30/2008 5:38:03 AM)

Any ideas as to how I can get the Big Ten Games over the internet?

I haven't heard of any. Can't you check with some of the bars out there to see if they could put Big 10 games on 1 o their screens?

Lynn G. -> RE: Gopher Football (8/30/2008 6:51:01 PM)

Did you find the Big 10 Network on your cable Jim?

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (8/31/2008 9:15:04 AM)

Not pretty but still a win.

Weber looks good
Decker looks great
ST's stood out
D line got a bit more pressure compared to last year
Secondary is terrible.

So.Mn.Fan -> RE: Gopher Football (8/31/2008 12:36:36 PM)

Whew!
A win
Lets get some more of those this year, ok?
Baby steps, building for that new stadium

So.Mn.Fan -> RE: Gopher Football (8/31/2008 12:40:48 PM)

Saw some of Michigan/Illinois/OSU/Wisconsin/Iowa games
We'll be ok. None of those teams except maybe OSU looked scary.
You hear pre-season stuff and it gets you thinking we'll get stomped all year in the Big 10.
I don't think so.
It's the middle-sized schools that continue to impress me.
Amazing what some of the smaller programs are accomplishing these days, playing with, and knocking off, the big boys.
