Agree o Engel, Tim.

Huge drop followed by a bad one by one of the TE's

drew -> RE: Gopher Football (11/3/2013 4:54:09 PM)

What a roller coaster that game was!!! I thought to myself midway through the 3rd, "maybe we're just a good team". And before the thought even worked itself out, I immediately had guilty feelings and I knew somehow the game was going to get hairy. The defense played so well for the first 40 minutes of the game, and then IU just cut through us. But if we would have scored on any one of those drives when IU was making their run, the game would have been over. Still, we found a way to win a game I doubt we would have won in any other year recently. To win 2 games this year on the road in conference is a huge accomplishment.

How about the catch by Donavahn Jones on that last drive? That kid looks like he could be a stud in the future. And Nelson has really been great the last two weeks. Fun team to watch right now, with aggressive play calling, players that play with good fundamentals, and a team that just looks into it. And to be honest, we should beat Penn State next week. I honestly feel we are a better team than them, and I hope the Bank is packed and loud next week. This team deserves it!!

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (11/3/2013 5:25:20 PM)

Drew, I meant to say something about Donavahn Jones in my last post. He really looks like somebody who could turn into a real play-maker from the receiver spot. Something we haven't had since Decker.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: Gopher Football (11/3/2013 5:46:10 PM)

The victory yesterday means a better than a toilet bowl opportunity. That's a good thing. If they can win one more game, then I think it will be a respectable bowl.

3-0 with coach Kill off the sidelines. Hmmm.

Lynn G. -> RE: Gopher Football (11/3/2013 8:02:46 PM)

I never heard an update on Christianson's injury. They had immoblized his leg - was it an ACL?

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (11/3/2013 9:36:46 PM)

Lynn, I think it was a broken leg.

Lynn G. -> RE: Gopher Football (11/3/2013 9:46:00 PM)

Thanks Tim. I wondered about that the way they immobilized it. He sure seemed chipper high-fiving teammates as they wheeled him off. [:D]

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (11/3/2013 9:56:03 PM)

Something significant that I take away from it is that if this happened 2 years ago the O-line would have imploded. They just didn't have the quality depth to absorb a loss like this. It is starting to become apparent how each year, Kill has incrementally improved the depth of the roster.

Dave E -> RE: Gopher Football (11/4/2013 9:07:21 AM)

Surgery on the leg on Sunday, which presumably means some sort of break.  Nasty, but almost assuredly a quicker recovery than a blown ACL.

Saw a chunk of the game, then missed the last 15 minutes.  Not sure my heart could have taken it.

Man, would be great to beat PSU this weekend.

Make sure you have faith the Gophers will win even if it appears it may be slipping away, or you may get a -2 post rating. Emotions not allowed. Wait until it plays out.

Lynn G. -> RE: Gopher Football (11/4/2013 9:52:28 AM)

Keep in mind that whoever gave you the low rating was acting on emotion too. Sports are a source of great emotion for all of us. I'm a miserable crud when the Vikings lose. [:@]

Then you must be just about catatonic at this point.

Lynn G. -> RE: Gopher Football (11/4/2013 11:05:12 AM)

Yep. Pretty much.

This is a five star post if I've ever read one.

Well, 5 stars on the whiner scale anyway.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (11/4/2013 2:08:53 PM)

Now I have to figure out if Dave is the one that gave me the -2 ratings the last two weeks. [8|]

Nah.  I'm not passive aggressive (in that sense, anyway).

Honestly, it's weird that one star is "-2".  When I see a single star, I think someone liked it, but not enough to give it more -- I never think that it's a bad thing.

I also think it's weird that people star posts at all.

Lynn G. -> RE: Gopher Football (11/4/2013 3:35:20 PM)

I agree that the star system is weird. One star should mean what you write - it's kind of good, but not great. If we really wanted to mark a post with a negative rating there should be a red devil's face or something.

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (11/4/2013 3:48:56 PM)

I think an extended middle finger would be perfect.

Dave E -> RE: Gopher Football (11/4/2013 4:14:48 PM)

I'd like to think that's the message at least 50% of my posts are trying to convey.  Am I failing?

Bruce Johnson -> RE: Gopher Football (11/9/2013 9:47:09 AM)

This may be a trap game. Penn State was good enough to beat Michigan. Don't be surprised this game doesn't turn out well.

drew -> RE: Gopher Football (11/9/2013 9:57:02 AM)

I'm going to be disappointed if we don't win this one. Penn St. is not that good. They barely beat Illinois at home last week.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (11/9/2013 11:16:12 AM)

Offense is blah so far. Trying to outpower them with Cobb in between the tackles isn't going to get it done.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (11/9/2013 11:27:50 AM)

Huge drive there though. Started at our own 2 and 98 later it's 10-0 good guys!

Loved the 4th down play call. Beautiful play design there.

David Levine -> RE: Gopher Football (11/9/2013 11:28:07 AM)

Pretty terrific 8 minute drive.

Great 4th down pass and the "Golden I" for the TD.
