Nice to see that "17" in front of the Minnesota all week …
How high can it go?
Take care of bidness today
Act like a ranked team.
I'd love to see us crack the Top 10 this year
Will probably have to happen before the big-boy portion of the schedule starts, and probably won't mean much, but it'd be fun to do it, just to say we did it (this year)
Expecting to be around it all year next year, with what should return.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/26/2019 10:36:41 AM)

Get the feeling Penn State will have their hands full in East Lansing today.
My money would be on Sparty
They are hurting, and that doesn't happen there very often
Someones going to pay
Bad timing for Penn State imo.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/26/2019 10:37:58 AM)

And normally I'd say Wiscy gets beat by OSU by 40 today, but they too, are wounded animals coming in.
Buckeyes will still win, but it won't be easy.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/26/2019 2:58:51 PM)

Morgan needs to learn to slide.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/26/2019 3:12:17 PM)

Burned through all 3 timeouts in 1st Q. [&o]

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/26/2019 3:13:19 PM)

Still a very good 1st Q. 14-0 Dominant.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/26/2019 3:18:21 PM)

Lucky completion on a tip.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/26/2019 3:28:40 PM)

What do you think of the Gopher helmets today?

Nope.
Dead wrong
Sparty sucks
That surprises me

28-3 at half
That’s the way you make a statement

Not a fan, like the gray uni's even less.

David Levine -> RE: Gopher Football (10/26/2019 6:12:55 PM)

That’s exactly what a good team does to a bad one.

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (10/26/2019 7:31:46 PM)

This is just incredible. I can't remember the last time the Gophers were 5-0 in conference play, and I especially can't remember them handing out 4 straight ass kickings in the Big Ten.

Now we get a bye week to get bumps and bruises healed and put in some new wrinkles for the Nittany Kittens.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/26/2019 7:33:49 PM)

Have we gone with neon green jerseys yet?

YUUUUUUGE. That game will be YUUUUUGE.

When does the talespin start?

Sorry that was mean-spirited

You just going to troll every non-Vikings thread?

What leads you to believe there will be one? This team has speed all over the field, a sign of better recruiting. Eight seniors on defense is also big factor.

If a loss counts as a tailspin then likely sometime before the regular season ends.

It’s still pretty long odds that they’ll run the table these last four games. If they can pull it off great.

But in reality one loss is still an amazing season and puts them in the Big 10 championship game and a major bowl game.

Even two losses, a definite possibility is a very successful season if even with a slightly disappointing end.

Three losses and we’re approaching ‘same old Gophers’ territory. Yes 9-3 is commendable, a reasonable step forward from the previous year. But the shattered hopes after the raised expectations would be tough.

I’m not even going to consider 4 losses.

Well, not having paid much attention, I was thinking how much could they have improved since that narrow/could have been a loss win over SD State? Which normally would lead to a possible projection of a 0-2 win Big Ten portion of the schedule. Just checked the schedules looks like SD State just lost their first game since then, a narrow loss to unbeaten ND State. Different division sure, but I guess in retrospect it looks like SD State was a tougher opponent than I had originally thought.

That said, the 5 Big 10 opponents they've beat have a total of 6 wins in the Big 10, and about 3 of those were over Rutgers, which is the equivalent of having a bye week, and having a 1 added to your win column. But like they say, you don't make the schedule, you just play the guys on the other sideline.

They would be doing well to get 2 wins against the 3 top 20 opponents they've got left on their schedule, Northwestern is probably a gimme.

I would say 3 losses in their last 4 would be something of a tailspin, if you are truly a top 20 team you should be able to get the occasional win against a top 20 opponent. It also depends on how they "show" in these games, the actual win/loss may be less important.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Gopher Football (10/27/2019 12:37:41 PM)

I said before, having watched both SDSU and Rutgers, SDSU would crush Rutgers.

SDSU you could tell was a sharp football program. They played tough, in the end the Gopher just had a few more horses to make a few more plays. Rutgers on the other hand is a total mess.

Yes the Gophers got a big break in the schedule with no Ohio State or Michigan and a weak Western Division. But 8-0 is still something they haven’t accomplished in decades. I’m sure there some equally soft schedules along the way but they still couldn’t get it done, because they were just another one of the cupcakes instead of the team beating all the cupcakes.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Gopher Football (10/27/2019 12:38:35 PM)

Speaking of cupcakes, the Illinois win is looking better. They could end up in an bowl game.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Gopher Football (10/27/2019 1:44:13 PM)

#13 in AP poll.

Pen State #5. Biggest matchup since ... who knows?

Especially considering the Big 10 has 6 teams in Top 20
