I think it's safe to say that the ghosts of Mitch Liedner, Phillip Nelson and Connor Rhoda have been exorcised.

I didn’t even realize just how good Morgan was.

18/20, 339 yards, 3 TDs. And he really should’ve had a 19th completition and 4th TD.

Big time QB!

And that’s his second game of the year where he was above 90%. He’s one of the top QB passing rankings in the nation.

He doesn’t have a rocket arm or physical skills that will blow you away, but he is accurate, unflappable and very smart, makes all the right reads and throws.

Quote from a Penn St player:

quote:

''He was reading us very well. He kind of knew what we were in and what they could to do expose us there,'' linebacker Jan Johnson said. ''They hit their plays. He made their throws.''

He’s a Mini-Me of Fleck. Totally bought into the program, the culture... even looks like Fleck.

I actually meant how good he was in this game - by the number.

But your overall point is dead on.

My favorite was the California Hercules who never played a down. But was going to be our savior

A draft pick the Vikings should consider.

He's a sophomore. Not sure if he's draftable NFL talent yet. A little undersized, some lack of mobility, and maybe not NFL arm strength, but he is a winner. When he comes out, I'd at least take him as a UFA, but might be worth a draft pick after 2 more years of being ELITE.

The LSU quarterback impressed me yesterday. They are so good. Tua is good too. That 85 yard score down 2 TDs that late was a great throw. Almost 90 points in that game.

That's what college football is. The big teams hammer the little fish, but when they face each other, most of the time the defenses can't handle the elite offenses.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (11/10/2019 10:58:02 AM)

Talked about that with friends yesterday Ed
Can stop offenses in college
But in the pros there’s always someone working to design better defenses
Interesting differences in the levels

Mr. Ed -> RE: Gopher Football (11/10/2019 11:02:02 AM)

Winfield named the national defensive player/week.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (11/10/2019 11:09:37 AM)

Not sure how much we’ll move up in polls
Only droppers will be a couple teams who won’t fall out of the top ten
Not much room for us.
I’ll be surprised if we move up a whole lot.

Excellent

Indiana is 7-2, rated for the first time since 1993

Illinois is bowl eligible

Weird B10 season for the non elite; Currently 7 teams in top 25

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (11/10/2019 6:08:17 PM)

We probably won't crack the top 10 for the playoff though. [&o]

Vick Viramontes. Showed up for spring practice and came in 4th in a 3 man competition.

It's actually a pretty weird feeling as a fan for my whole life (all 16 years )[;)]

I'm not nervous about Iowa and being 7. Do I believe we are the 7th best team in the country? No. But I also don't think Fleck will let this get to our heads. We have a lot of MO going on that I think he can harness. The past 20 years of Gopher FB, with a win like this, would mean almost certain disaster for the rest of the year.

I don't have that feeling right now for some reason. It will probably bite me in the ass but I have a calm about this program for the first time in my life.

I feel we are legit and will beat Iowa and NW setting up a B10 Champ against OSU. In fact, I'm calling the shot.

Do we pass Alabama in the rankings?

NO!!!! There is a law or rule against that.

It was a win over one of the elite. Don't be surprised they carry a lot of weight and add that to our 9-0 status. I predicted they would move up to #7 and nailed it. You can go back and see it in my post. [:D]
However, the official rankings come out on Tuesday I hear and I'm guessing we won't be quite as high. If we win out there is no way to stop us from being in the playoffs for the national championship, because it will include Whisky and Iowa and finally oSU.

Doesn't matter. We win out and we will be top 4.

I'm with you. In fact, I think there is a strong possibility that we are undefeated going into the B10 Champ. We won't win that without a miracle and honestly would rather stay out of the CFP and go play in the Rose Bowl this year.

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (11/11/2019 8:49:35 AM)

Love this quote from Fleck ...

“I’m sure there’s some people on the final drive who said, ‘Oh, here we go again’. Gotta let go of all that 50 years ago, 40 years ago, 30 years ago, 20 years ago, 10 years ago. We’ve got to change at some point.”

Phil Riewer -> RE: Gopher Football (11/11/2019 9:04:43 AM)

I am really impressed with Winfield....He is NFL ready also. I never thought he was that big of guy. He is built to hit.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (11/11/2019 9:25:26 AM)

Great post Jeff
You nailed what I’m feeling
I’m comfy when watching
Just doesn’t feel like we’ll be dumb.
Like we’ll beat ourselves.
Different world.
Since y’all are throwing down this big predictions I’ll top some of you
We aren’t overrated.
PSU was legitimately top 5.
And we are every bit as good as them
Score on Saturday made them look better not us
It hit us all Saturday
We’re pretty damn good
Athletes up and down the depth chart.

I do believe that we could very well be a top 7 team in the country. After the top 2 or 3, I think there is a fair amount of parity. We beat a legit top 5 team with our best defensive player still on the sidelines. They next test is to stay in that tier. The Gophers need to show that they will avoid that let down after a big win because Iowa at home can be a landmine for the Gophers if they have a let down. The Gophers SHOULD be good enough to win these next 3 games, but WILL they play good enough to win these next 3 games?

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (11/11/2019 9:33:15 AM)

Zero reason for anyone in MN to think beating Iowa is a given
We don’t win there
They can salvage their season with a win over us
Iowa’s only losses are to ranked teams
I can’t fathom any fan of this program slighting Iowa. Or Wiscy. Or hell even NW yet.
Let’s get it done before we assume anything.

Why would you rather play in the Rose Bowl than take a shot at the National Title?
