Looks like MTSU's Dasher is out for the opener.  Should be a fortunate break for the Gophers.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (9/1/2010 1:53:45 PM)

Big Ten doing a nice job, imo ... the divisions look right, and playing the cross-over games is a must. Well done.

I would have to agree.  And from the Gophers POV, it worked out pretty well also.  We are in with Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa, Michigan State, and Northwestern......plus the protected game with Wisky.

- Probably a good thing to have TOSU on the other half.
- Sounds like most Bucky fansl hate it, so yeah....thats a plus!

The only thing I'd like to see different is the last conference game.  We play Illinois & Michigan State the next two years.  Pretty mediocre games as far a rivalries go....

I wonder if our side will be the "Three yards" division or the "Cloud of Dust" division?

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (9/2/2010 11:09:41 AM)

We get the main rivalries every year though.
The Little Brown Jug
Paul Bunyan's Axe
Floyd of Rosedale.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (9/2/2010 1:13:31 PM)

I wouldn't even call them rivalries though.  You have to win once and a while for that [&o]

I'll give you Michigan, but unless rivalries just means Jeff Jesser's lifetime, check it out.

ALL TIME SERIES:

Minnesota leads Wisconsin 35-24-3
Minnesota leads Iowa 59-42-2
Michigan leads Minnesota 70-24-3

We're comin'!!!
Tonight:  the Sun Belt!; Tomorrow:  the Big-10! (ok, maybe not tomorrow..or this year..or)

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (9/2/2010 7:07:03 PM)

Decent start
Not buying Rose Bowl tickets or anything, however. [:D]
Looks like same old/same old. Big, strong, but slow. And no imagination.

Karl H -> RE: Gopher Football (9/2/2010 7:14:54 PM)

End of 1st Qtr.  7-0 Gophers & driving near the red zone.  Running game going well so far....

Karl H -> RE: Gopher Football (9/2/2010 7:19:27 PM)

14-0 Gophers.  Hoese with both TD's....

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (9/2/2010 7:36:33 PM)

Weber is embarassing.
Would you look confident if you played 100 games of big-time college football?
All these wasted years on him, and he's still the most incapable performer we have. Simply horrible.
Can't handle snap on crucial 2nd down play, can't read the defenses, always throws into coverage, shows no confidence.
Disappointing as hell.

Karl H -> RE: Gopher Football (9/2/2010 7:44:47 PM)

14-7 Gophers.  MTSU picked up the tempo/no huddle and went right down the field.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (9/2/2010 7:47:19 PM)

Typical typical typical.
Pounding them, driving for score to hammer another nail in, and mistakes, mistakes, mistakes.
Thats not a DI quality opponent. And we let them right back in the game. My patience with Wacker II is gone. Done. Over.

Karl H -> RE: Gopher Football (9/2/2010 7:57:39 PM)

14-14.  MTSU goes down the field again.  Defense with 11 new starters..and it looks like it.

Also, two missed field goals by Ellestad.

Corleone -> RE: Gopher Football (9/2/2010 8:01:58 PM)

Same old (poorly coached and shitty QB play) Gophers.

Get Gray in there already. Weber sucks.

Karl H -> RE: Gopher Football (9/2/2010 8:10:00 PM)

Gophers running game looks decent.  136 yards in the 1st half.  Passing game needs work.  Big time pressure on every pass play, hard to see if WR's are open or not.
Defense must slow down the no huddle.  We were in complete control until the last 5 minutes of the half.  Missed FG's hurt.  MTSU with all the mo going into halftime.

Corleone -> RE: Gopher Football (9/2/2010 8:16:56 PM)

Have been watching the Vikes game also. The 2nd best QB in the state (behind Favre) undoubtedly has to be Joe Mauer.

Karl H -> RE: Gopher Football (9/2/2010 8:29:02 PM)

17-14 MTSU.  Gave up a huge play right away.  Otherwise a decent job by the D.

Karl H -> RE: Gopher Football (9/2/2010 9:03:04 PM)

17-17 Gophers start on their own 1/4 yard line.  Drive 96 3/4 yards down to the 3, and settle for a FG.

Corleone -> RE: Gopher Football (9/2/2010 9:04:23 PM)

Really had to have 6 there. Gah.

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (9/2/2010 9:04:43 PM)

Darryl Thompson was quoted in the Pioneer Press this morning that the Gophers aren't going to win big games with Webber. He thinks Gray is a special talent who can win big games. He thinks Gray would be the first Ricky Foggie caliber QB at the U since Ricky Foggie.

Corleone -> RE: Gopher Football (9/2/2010 9:14:02 PM)

Run it down their throat, win 20-17, install Gray as the starting QB on Monday.

Karl H -> RE: Gopher Football (9/2/2010 9:26:01 PM)

24-17 Gophers.  A big time drive by MN & chewed up serious clock in the process.  Our rushing stats should look really good.

Karl H -> RE: Gopher Football (9/2/2010 9:29:08 PM)

FUMBLE!  And the Gophers have it.  Just over 3 minutes remain.  Hoese with all the TD's tonight.

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (9/2/2010 9:29:10 PM)

How much time is left.
