Yeah, well, I'm not the biggest Favre fan, but this is the same Jets team that sucked last year.

Their offense sucked balls last year. I mean, it was pathetic, bottom dwelling offense of truly sucky proportions. Thomas Jones was the RB, Leon Washington the return/3rd down guy, and Laverneous Coles and Jericho Cotchery the leading recievers.

This year they're one of the best offenses in the league, 2nd in points ever. Thomas Jones is the running back, Leon Washington the return/3rd down guy, and Laverneous Coles and Jericho Cotchery the leading receivers.

Favre has made a huge difference to that team, they've got the 3rd best record in the league. People should probably give him his due, a lot of people thought they wouldn't even make the playoffs. It is painfully obvious that Favre has helped them a ton.

Favre's definitely a part, but I think you discount Alan Faneca and Ferguson gaining experience.  Those 2 things are HUGE for the offense.  Jenkins is still the MVP of that team IMO, though.  I think Collinsworth is dead-on in that assessment.

I definitely don't discount Faneca, I've been saying he's the best guard (better than Hutch for years).

And Jenkins may be the MVP, who knows.

I do know that if they didn't have Favre, Jenkins would be the MVP of a sub .500 team. That offense is nothing without Favre and without the offense making that huge, gigantic, tremendous jump, the Jets aren't that good.

Similarly, the Packers are the exact same on offense except they swapped QBs. They aren't making the playoffs this year.

People can think Favre sucks, that's their perrogative.

Curious how you know this.

I maintain that Favre is a great REGULAR season QB who COULD take his team to the SB as long as the supporting cast is strong enough.  If not, he probably gives you a great regular season, but his INTs cost you in the playoffs

Especially now, Favre is no longer an effective cold weather QB, because of his old bones or what I don't know. And that is not a good thing in January in New York.

Guest -> RE: RE:NFL News (11/27/2008 12:35:14 AM)

The Jets did add 6 ProBowlers to their roster during the offseason. (Marty calls six a few and claims it happens all the time, but I haven't been able to find ONE other instance of a team adding 6 ProBowlers to their squad in one offseason).  As a rule, I generally don't like to debate, argue or fight with a guy that has a boner, but, for what it's worth:
The Jets have the leading rusher in their conference, the Vikings don't.
The Jets QB's have thrown more interceptions than the Vikings QB's.
The Jets QB's have had fewer pass plays of 20+ than the Vikings have.
The Jets QB's have the same amount of pass plays going for 40+ as do the Viking QB's.
Brett Favre throws 9% of his passes beyond 21 yards, so do the Viking QB's.
The Jets QB's have thrown more passes to their RB's than the Vikings QB's have thrown to theirs.

Gus+TJack shouldn't equal MVP.

I would definitely agree that Brett Favre is better than Gus and TJack, but the fact that they have so much in common, statistically, makes me think he's not even close to being the league MVP.  Unless of course, if you LOVE him.

And again, the MVP of the league should NEVER EVER lead the league in interceptions.

The only tradition about Detroit/Thanksgiving, is they will be taking an ass-kicking on national TV instead of no one seeing it.
Its time for that tradition to end.

I'm not sure, but they are talking felony charges for discharging a weapon in public.  And Antonio Pierce was hanging out with him at the time, and is under scrutiny.  He may have disposed of the gun, which would earn him some criminal charges.

Is there anyone who still thinks the Giants aren't that good?

After they beat the Eagles next week at home the division will be done.  One more win and HFA is probably locked up before they play us.

With GB losing things are breaking well for us.

BUT WE MUST WIN TONIGHT!
