I agree.......rumor also has it, he called Arthur Blank to tell him the news. Way to bail on your team Petrino.

John Childress -> RE:NFL News (12/12/2007 2:33:09 PM)

Blank with his "fried chicken" comment is in a little trouble

John Childress -> RE:NFL News (12/12/2007 2:52:00 PM)

Hopefully the Jesse Jackson crew doesn't run with this. Blank has been very fair to all people. I would be much more concerned if Home Depot didn't have any minorities in any senior management level than some chicken comment. Plus let's be honest, Black people do like fried chicken!

Cheesehead Craig -> RE:NFL News (12/12/2007 4:27:03 PM)

mmmmmm... fried chicken....

Lynn G. -> RE:NFL News (12/12/2007 4:38:20 PM)

I like fried chicken and I'm lilly white. :nodding:

John Childress -> RE:NFL News (12/12/2007 5:45:19 PM)

Good, I will cook some for you and the Packer Fan when I come! KFC just doesn't compare. PS I don't know how much good chicken Vick will get in the big house! I don't think Mr. Blank has spent much time at county

cthusky -> RE:NFL News (12/12/2007 5:47:46 PM)
I like fried chicken and I'm lilly white. :nodding:
Didn't realize they served fried chicken in prison. In the movies, prison food looks pretty unappetizing. Probably Blank was thinking of fried chicken as in "Southern Fried Chicken"--a regional dish most Southerners claim as theirs. Now ... if the quarterback for the New England Patriots were going to prison, Kraft could say, "I sure hope he doesn't eat too much clam chowder and lobsters with butter or he'll weigh 300 lbs. in two years."

Jeff Jesser -> RE:NFL News (12/12/2007 6:13:09 PM)
mmmmmm... fried chicken....
I think this post is an oxymoron. Technically that isn't even "chicken". :shock:

Things that make you go hmmmmm... Who, but people like vegans, people like my dad, (who grew up poor on a farm and had to kill and clean live chickens, as well as become acquainted with their dirty, disgusting lifestyle and peculiarities) does NOT like Fried chicken? Except for the fact that It's a cholesterol inducing death bomb, I love fried chicken as well. When and why did it become a "racial slur"? Society and perception is totally whacked and I have NO Faith in the human race when this kind of crap can be so influential in social dynamics.

I love fried chicken too and I'm white. :shock:

Jeff Jesser -> RE:NFL News (12/12/2007 8:26:20 PM)

Who knows where it came from but there is no denying that it is a racial stereotype. Ask Fuzzy Zeoller. You think that joke he made at Tiger wasn't racially motivated? He may not have meant for it to hurt Tiger personally, but that joke wouldn't even make sense if there wasn't a well known stereotype. BTW- that kind of stuff doesn't bother me personally. Say anything you want about me or my kind. I'm strong enough to laugh it off as a joke but I can understand where it would piss people off.

djskillz -> RE:NFL News (12/12/2007 8:28:32 PM)

And watermelon, right? ;) I don't get those either. I love both, and I also am lilly-white. Lots of stupid racial stereotypes out there. JC, I'll also bring beer if you like. Just give me some fried chicken! You bastards are making me hungry. :lol:

El Duderino -> RE:NFL News (12/12/2007 9:05:54 PM)
Except for the fact that It's a cholesterol inducing death bomb, I love fried chicken as well.
If you're willing to do some work for it, you can make some pretty damn tasty fried chicken that is actually healthy. The main things to do are a) remove the skin before preparation and b) pan fry in olive oil instead of deep frying in vegetable or other oil. Olive oil is a great source of HDL, the so-called good cholesterol, which helps regulate LDL, the "bad cholesterol" that is tied to heart disease. My wife and I make our own fried chicken this way, and I have to say I don't feel like the olive oil or pan frying take anything away from it at all.

Toby Stumbo -> RE:NFL News (12/12/2007 9:07:38 PM)

Olive oil is great but oh so spendy. :shock:

John Childress -> RE:NFL News (12/12/2007 9:10:27 PM)

No, you can't take the skin off! That is the flavor for sure!

John Childress -> RE:NFL News (12/12/2007 9:11:06 PM)

I wonder why Petrino didn't stay and draft Brohm next year?

El Duderino -> RE:NFL News (12/12/2007 9:12:22 PM)
Olive oil is great but oh so spendy. :shock:
Which raises an entirely different matter: It is freaking expensive to eat healthy! Fresh local produce is way more expensive than frozen or canned stuff. Whole grain breads and pastas are way more expensive than bleached flour products. And junk food in general (Twinkies, McDonalds, chips, etc.) is WAAAAAY cheaper than healthy snacks and meals. I started eating healthy this year, and it has definitely hurt the wallet. But I'm 40 lbs lighter, less worried about my mortality, and I feel great, so I think it's a fair trade. Now if I could just get that last 10 lbs off ...

Lynn G. -> RE:NFL News (12/12/2007 9:15:33 PM)

Ben, You are so right. And you have to shop so much more often too to keep fresh produce on hand, plus work harder to plan meals. Fast food is cheaper and quicker, and explains why so many people choose it. Now pass me a fried chicken thigh...

Toby Stumbo -> RE:NFL News (12/12/2007 9:15:46 PM)

El Duderino -> RE:NFL News (12/12/2007 9:16:35 PM)
No, you can't take the skin off! That is the flavor for sure!
In the interest of full disclosure: I never liked the skin. I find it kind of gross. I know, I know, that's blasphemy, but I've always been moderately picky about food and that's one of my areas of distaste, along with mushrooms, mayonnaise, and squid. That said, I think the switch to pan frying in olive oil would make a big difference in health even if you leave the skin on.

Toby Stumbo -> RE:NFL News (12/12/2007 9:16:52 PM)

Back to chicken, I like to bake mine but I always leave the skin on. JC is right, that's the flavor!!! :) But I've come to terms with my fatness so it doesn't bother me. :lol:

Cheesehead Craig -> RE:NFL News (12/12/2007 9:36:45 PM)

So now it just begs the question: JC - When the hell are you coming to the Twin Cities?

Jeff Jesser -> RE:NFL News (12/12/2007 9:41:46 PM)

If you guys really want to shed that last 10 lbs get a good whey protein mix at your local nutrition store and have a whey shake for breakfast. It'll help cut down on your meals for the rest of your day and it's a solid, easily digestible protein. Tastes good too. The best way to burn fat is to build muscle.
