Rivers wins because he has great players around him.  He is a career 77.5 QB rating in the playoffs with more INTs than TDs.

He really aims balls.

Interesting fact about Favre - never won a game when trailing by 14 points or more.

Tim Cady -> RE: RE:NFL News (9/22/2008 9:22:31 PM)

Just think if the braintrust in 2005 would have listened to us(there were plenty of us that were drooling over his highlight reel moves) regarding Darren Sporels, we take Ciatrick Fason instead.

Tim Cady -> RE: RE:NFL News (9/22/2008 9:26:23 PM)

Dustin Fox in the 3rd, we could have taken Barber in the 3rd and Sproles in the 4th. Guys many here were clamoring for. Although I doubt we take Peterson last year if we have those guys.

John Childress -> RE: RE:NFL News (9/22/2008 10:15:10 PM)

I figured out why Rivers is so successful despite a weak arm.

He is great at anticipating throws and launches early and that gives the defender time to run under the ball.

djskillz -> RE: RE:NFL News (9/22/2008 11:09:37 PM)

Ya, he's a very smart QB to me.

He may not be Brees, but I do think he is emerging as a VERY good qb.

    Henry Ellard Could be Rams Next HC
    Mon Sep 22, 2008

    NFL.com's Adam Schefter reports if the St. Louis Rams decide to make an in-season change, many expect that OC Al Saunders and DC Jim Haslett would be the logical interim successors as head coach. But do not forget about Rams assistant Henry Ellard, who has drawn the attention of the organization. Ellard is practically a Rams lifer, a successful player for the organization and now the wide receivers coach, a position he has held since 2001. He might be the leading candidate to take over if the Rams resort to doing what they don't want to this season.

[image]http://assets.nydailynews.com/img/2008/09/23/top_favre-castillo.jpg[/image] Zapped! Chargers blow away Jets Eric Mangini loosened the reins on Brett Favre and the result was a mistake-filled meltdown, a 48-29 Jets' loss to the Chargers before a raucous crowd and millions of TV watchers who were probably left thinking he should've stayed retired.

What are they waiting for??  The Linehan era has been nothing but a complete failure.  Let it go!!!

djskillz -> RE: RE:NFL News (9/23/2008 12:21:57 AM)

How long before Favre is whining about being "misled" with this Jets team and is demanding a trade again?

I'm setting the over/under at week 8.

Duane Sampson -> RE: RE:NFL News (9/23/2008 7:13:03 AM)

I just read that Al Harris may be out for the season - ruptured spleen.

I believe week 6 is the trade deadline so I'll take the under. [:D]

John Childress -> RE: RE:NFL News (9/23/2008 8:40:55 AM)

I never thought that Favre would go there because they are a bad team with no chance of a SB - probably won't even make the playoffs.

I was shocked when he accepted that trade.  It told me he was more about either playing or money than winning another championship because that team stinks.

Favre wanted to come back and play, and the Packers forced him to either go where they wanted, or retire. I'm pretty sure that's how history will mark it down.

His choice was to either let the Packers force him to retire, or take their lousy offer. He'd be criticized no matter which he chose.

He was dumb enough to think the Packers (like a lot of organizations, or like they did with Reggie) would let him go where he wanted.

djskillz -> RE: RE:NFL News (9/23/2008 9:09:22 AM)

Or the biggest media whore on the planet decided that he may as well go to the biggest media market in the world to play.  That's my theory at least.

I still think he's going to end up demanding a trade before the deadline.

Easy E -> RE: RE:NFL News (9/23/2008 9:13:36 AM)

He eats babies, too...

At least that's what I heard... [;)]

Toby Stumbo -> RE: RE:NFL News (9/23/2008 9:25:39 AM)

Babies are sooooo tender and succulent though.  Damn, I'm hungry now.

Jake Carlson -> RE: RE:NFL News (9/23/2008 11:15:58 AM)

Just from watching Favre so far this season, it seems like he's realizing he made a mistake.  He doesn't seem to enjoy playing at all.  He's definitely missing that fun and enthusiasm that the media loved to discuss to no end.

Toby Stumbo -> RE: RE:NFL News (9/23/2008 1:12:09 PM)

Linehan benching Bulger for Trent Green. [&:]

Jeff Jesser -> RE: RE:NFL News (9/23/2008 1:16:28 PM)

They need to bench Linehan for Green.  That would be a better option for them.

Favre?  Maybe...he still isn't coming here...so there really is no point in discussing it.

Toby Stumbo -> RE: RE:NFL News (9/23/2008 1:29:18 PM)

Poor Green may end up dead with that offensive line. [>:]

John Childress -> RE: RE:NFL News (9/23/2008 4:49:18 PM)

Teams I like this week

Steelers
Bengals
Bills - though I think they are an incredibly weak team
Broncos
Jaguars

Tim Cady -> RE: RE:NFL News (9/23/2008 6:46:35 PM)

I was going to pick the Bills to lose this week,  after they barely survived a Road Raider Circus. But then I saw they were playing the Rams, now if a team is ripe for getting beat it is the Bills,  but I don't think the Rams are  the team that can pull that together, but is hard to win 4 in a row.
