That Coin flip had very little impact on that game's outcome.

It was Fitzgerald making plays with the game on the line .

Everything else is just sour grapes... and IDGAF about how many times the Pukers have lost "Last second" playoff games..


They can lose on the Last second play Every Stinking time and I would be happy to laugh at their whining

I had lunch with a friend today who used to watch a lot of football but went about five or six years not paying much attention until a couple of years ago. She is a Viking fan first and foremost (originally from N. Dakota, living in MN for about 30 years now) but since some friends are Packer fans she has been watching a bunch of their games for the past couple of years too.

Out of the blue and unsolicited (I swear) she commented that she couldn't believe how many beneficial calls from the referees the Packers get. I smiled and asked "Really?" She went on to mention quite a few times that Packers were NOT called for things like PI, but their opponents (and not just the Vikings) were, and how many times opponents were flagged for things like roughing the passer on Rodgers that really weren't.

It was a fun conversation - like when a blind person gets an operation and can see for the first time. And it was another confirmation that although yes, we come from a bias, we really are seeing what we think we are seeing.

I didn't want to clog up the Vikings' thread with Packer talk, but wanted to respond to your post.

While I am optimistic and hopeful with the Vikes, it is NOT a good idea to underestimate the Packers. Aaron Rodgers is a top 5 QB, and how times in the last 10 years has a top 5 QB gone 2 years in a row not winning their division ?

I think of Wilson, Brady, Rodgers, Newton and maybe Big Ben to round out the top 5 right now. Peyton Manning was in that group, at least as far as a regular season QB until about 3 years ago, and his team usually won their division, and probably didn't go 2 years in a row without winning their division.

The Packers get Nelson coming back, and I think one or both of Adams and Abracadabra are going to be a budding star. Lacey lost weight and could really come back strong. His problem is Starks is quicker, and that usually shows.

The Packers have unfortunately been good about keeping their OL and continuity. If they hadn't, I think Rodgers might have taken a beating and may have pushed his retirement age to the earlier 30s.

What could help towards Rodgers retiring younger is if he takes a beating, and the fact that he likes to throw deep, and doesn't have a great short game, could lead to just that.

But, like Manning's motivation to at least tie his brother in SB rings, I think Rodgers would still like to one up Favre, and get a second ring. This year could be the season he does just that, realizing he isn't going to play forever.

Hopefully the Vikes beat the piss out of him, finish ahead of the Pack, and take away his desire, drive and motivation.

They looked good the 1st six games and then their defense got exposed against SD. From there the wheels started to come off and Rodgers looked pedestrian at best. Even appeared McCarthy was losing the team.

Nelson is 31 and coming off ACL surgery.Unlikely he will be the same player

Their defense is not that good. They can't get off the field on 3rd down and are a fundamentally poor tackling defense.

Rodgers could be declining. He didn't look right the second half of the season and was not on the injury report.

I think their run is over. Peppers, Matthews and Rodgers are past their prime.

And Lacy looks like the pounding of the NFL is taking a toll on him with his style of running, similar to what happened to Earl Campbell, only at an accelerated pace. Mainly because Campbell was much more talented and beastly.

I don't think Rodgers is past his prime, they mostly missed Jordy, and the FA TE they signed might help. Matthews is definitely not past his prime. And while Peppers is past his prime, he is still a great player that at times can really impact a game with a strip sack, a pass deflection, or even a hurry.

I like the chances of the Vikings winning the division if Peppers is cut, and the Vikes continue trending upward, while the Packers trend downward.

The fact that Green Bay didn’t use free agency to bring in big names is no surprise. Splashy moves are not the style of general manager Ted Thompson. He’s built a consistent contender through the draft in the 12 years since he took the job and selected Rodgers with the 24th pick. Thompson prefers to build from within and that appears to be the whole plan on how to contend this year. Jordy Nelson’s knee is intact and Eddie Lacy has slimmed down to the point that he no longer looks like BJ Raji and that’s apparently the end of the plan. Green Bay are going to sink or swim with essentially the same team they had at the end of the 2014 season when they were sunk by Seattle.

McCarthy has anointed career backup Lane Taylor as Sitton’s replacement, which is a major reach after Taylor impressed no one during exhibition play. He isn’t close to Sitton as a pass-blocker and, the last time anyone checked, keeping quarterback Aaron Rodgers healthy is job one in Green Bay. Just as important, McCarthy didn’t give Taylor any time with the No. 1 line during the preseason, so it will take time for it to build chemistry.

In their haste to dump Sitton, it appears the Packers have cut off their nose to spite their face. They seemingly had everything they needed on offense but now, much like the past three years, they will enter the season noticeably weaker at one position. Amazingly, this was their choice.

McCarthy’s answers to questions about Sitton’s release have contained little substance and Thompson has avoided reporters altogether. But they have to know that if this decision backfires, there will be many more questions in January.

I was going to say Puzzling move by TT. But he's an idiot. He also replaced his P with one that is worse to save .5 ml

But Sitton is a stud. Wish we could have got him.

Sitton's replacement started a couple of games last year, and got one of the highest ratings for his position in week one. On local radio they claim there were some issues with Sitton where they felt he was becoming a distraction, or that he was affecting team chemistry in a.negative way.

Let's hope they start to miss Sitton a little bit more in week 2.

I would LOVE for that to happen Daniel, but I think many of Rodger's successful plays are where he drops back deep, or rolls to his right. He rolls to his right, and he is rolling away from Griffin and Barr, and Kendricks can't do much if Aaron is throwing past him, and taking advantage of poor coverage by Sandejo, Waynes, or someone else.

I don't hope the Vikes blitz from the left side of their defense often, but hope when they do, that they are lucky and that it is the right time.

Nice nudge from the NFL to get off to a good start Packers!

Outside of the opener at US Bank Stadium. They started on road Jax, then got Detroit at home to get healthy. Then a bye. After bye home to host a Giant team that just got beat up at US Bank Stadium on Monday night on a short week. I think I will pick the Packers in Survivor this week. Sheesh....[&o]

NY Giants cannot be happy about these two back to back road games.

I think an angry Giants team might pull an upset, if they had a run game I'd like their chances.

Detroit made a game of it in Lambeau, the Packers 2ndary is weak without Shields. Eli has had some success there, has pulled off playoff wins there.

Having said that, I might pick the Pack in my eliminator league, leaning towards Minnesota, but might also consider the Ravens at home against Washington.

It was interesting on a local radio station (Wisconsin), two commentators were talking how there is not a single player on the Vikings offense they would trade for straight up for a Packer player.

One commentator mentioned that Diggs is probably better than Cobb, but Nelson is the number 1, and he would take Nelson all day over Diggs because size matters.

What I found funny is they never got around to comparing the DEFENSES, and or swapping players from them [&:]

Well I did survive with the Puckers. Now I don't ever have to use them again. Marty tell you didn't die with the Ravens, remember Baltimore is like a home game for the Deadskins. That match up scared me last week and at last minute I put small number on Baltimore. My first shot at picks I had Washington but I couldn't intellectualize it. Wouldn't have had to if Baltimore defender doesn't throw away the ball at the goal line.

I still have MN, NE and Pittsburgh available to me.

The Packers get Dallas at home. Let's hope Elliot runs all over them and I Dak can stay magic for one more week.
