Kurt, I didn't mean to come off that way. I grew up a Big 10 fan, until I went to Oregon.
I do get a little miffed when I hear talk in here praising Nebraska, having lived in Omaha, I was force fed their garbage when they were actually relevant. It will be interesting to see what Urban Meyer can do at Ohio State, but the rest of the conference really looks like the product of a bygone era.

Right now, I really wish we were in the new 4 team playoff format.
If Oregon, Alabama, and Florida State were to win out, someone would really be hosed.
Still a lot of season left thankfully.

Check this out! This is simply outstanding!

With the first pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns select. . .Geno Smith, quarterback, West Virginia.

What that guy did today was nothing short of absolutely ridiculous.

Ian Joseph -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (9/29/2012 10:51:15 PM)

Nah.. They have something with Brandon Weeden. They need more around him.

I suspect the first pick will either be a lineman or a quarterback to a team that doesn't actually need one short term.

Weeden will be 29 Oct 14, by the time he and Cleveland MIGHT be ready to contend he'll be 31.

Ian Joseph -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (9/30/2012 4:51:42 AM)

Maybe so, but unless he's terrible for a couple of seasons, Cleveland is not going to push reset on the quarterback position nor draft another first round QB to stash in the basement. They will use those picks to surround him with talent.

IMO it's a long shot that he will ever provide them more than a couple of good years of QBing while they are relevant, then they would have to restart from scratch, QB wise. Which is a big step back. But what would you expect from a team that spends a 1st round draft pick on a 29 year old rookie QB?

We have something with Christian Ponder, but some of the local intelligensia insisted that we needed to tank for Robert Griffin III or Andrew Luck, too.

I hope that, for the sake of their fans, the Browns are smarter than that. Weeden's been much better than I expected him to be.

SoMnFan -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (10/6/2012 6:46:33 PM)

Don't look now ... but Florida's pretty damn good again ...

Steve Lentz -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (10/6/2012 6:54:04 PM)

It seems like Iowa State pulls off a big upset every year.

Ponder is playing well

But Griffin is twice the QB of Ponder - already

Not even close

Geno Smith is a monster!

Griffin reminds me of Vick.
He needs to embrace the pocket or his career will be similarly disappointing considering his stature.

Thank you Ducks for letting me hit the hay early tonight after flying the redeye to NY.
Could be 70-17 in the morning.

Guest -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (10/6/2012 10:49:19 PM)

Ducks are pretty damn good.

Looking way down the line might not be realistic, but I'd love to see this Duck team take on Alabama.

Richard Neussendorfer -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (10/6/2012 11:01:00 PM)

Another big game for Bo, another beat down! Nebraska head coach has to be the greatest job in America.

Give up a 60 burger to a very pedestrian offense and still keep your job.

I bet Nebraska is gonna ink a 5 year extension for Bo after that steaming pile! Wow!

Griffin is 225 lbs. What do you mean about his stature?

Vick has a much smaller frame.

John Childress -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (10/7/2012 12:30:48 AM)

Griffin is a far better passer as a rookie than Vick was - not even close.

WHen people say something like that it just shows how little they have watched the game

Soaking wet in a saddle maybe.
He looks as fragile as Vick.

Far better passer than this guy ... twice the passer than that guy ...
He's good
I don't question his abilities.
But we need to take him off the pedestal that everyone has placed him on.
And he needs to embrace the pocket.
Otherwise he's going to be just another running QB who with a promising that may never fully shine.
Shanahan and Elway never won the big Kahuna until Elway started throwing from the pocket more and the RB's did all the running.

It wasn't the throwing from the pocket that got Elway 2 rings

It was having a 2,000 yard RB in the backfield

People like to say that but it really isn't true.

Elway barely even threw the ball in his first SB win

And in his second one Elway made plays OUTSIDE the pocket for the win

John Childress -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (10/7/2012 7:00:04 AM)

2007 Elway playoff yards by game
223
170
210
123

He threw the grand total of 3TD passes ALL PLAYOFFS!

They won on Davis legs, not Elway's arms

I am going to ignore the facts because they don't support my argument

Griffin 6-2 217
Vick 6-0 215

Ricky J -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (10/7/2012 8:18:24 AM)

By the numbers it looks like RG has a smaller frame. A little more lanky
