Like the info, somewhat dated and numerous omissions, but my point is that there is no such thing as QBU. Or QB Conference. More today than every before.

Hell, LSU was anti-QBU, then along came Jamarcus Russell.

You seem sensible to me. I get what you're saying. I wish you could get ESPN and every other sports outlet to see the same thing. I guess they think since SEC fans are more rabid the product must be much better.

I have $20 says there is only one SEC team in the playoffs.

Done. You got yourself a deal, man.

I still maintain probably the best 4 teams in the country are all in the SEC West this year. Craziness. I do think Oregon is better than FSU right now. Maybe TCU and KSU are better too. FSU just has not been impressive at all this year in any game.

Dak Prescott is highly over rated. Tebow 2.0?

Without context, I don't understand.

Tebow was one of the best college football QB's of his era. Not certain Prescott is even as good. Therefore, I don't get the "2.0".

Being the best QB at the collegiate level rarely translates to being the best at the next level.

He's big and strong like Tebow and frequently misses wide open guys just like Tebow. I think the comparison is fairly easy. Maybe he improves his accuracy next season but he was missing wide open guys all night.

JT2 -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (12/31/2014 10:56:15 PM)

I'm so pleased we finally have an on-field solution that should remove all doubt about who the best team is.

I don't get the overrated part.

Was Manziel overrated?

Manziel? I think the whole SEC proves to be overrated by how easily a joke like manziel carved them up.

Richard Neussendorfer -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (12/31/2014 11:01:32 PM)

The next 100 yard nfl game Manziel has will be his first. He makes Ponder look like an all pro.

And you should. As a football fan, I absolutely love what they have been doing. Changed the game. Changed how conference rivals recruit.

Not to mention, one of my most very favorite shoes are the Oregon One Foamposites.

I'm very excited about this playoff.

I don't know. I'm not a spokesperson for the SEC. I didn't go to a SEC school (none of them recruited me), but I lived in SEC country for a while.

I'm not sure TCU would agree with you guys today. Who would I take out if they got in? No idea. I think all 4 are deserving but I'm not so sure TCU couldn't beat any one of the final four on a neutral field. They have been damn impressive.

djskillz -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (1/1/2015 11:09:07 AM)

Ya, I was wrong on the "4 best teams" this year but it's still laughable to think that the SEC isn't the best conference top to bottom. Funny how no mentions were made of the Arkansas game or the Texas A&M game. Or South Carolina. Or Georgia. And I'm sure none will be made if Auburn/Alabama win. The conference still has a very good chance to win the title this year and they had 4 other top 10-15 teams. No conference is close to that.

I also think it's laughable to paint the conference as "Alabama only". Yes, Alabama's been the game's gold standard/dynasty for a while now, but it's not like the conference is lacking in other success. Auburn won a title within the last few years and were also about as close as you could come last year. LSU has won recently. Florida has won recently. What other conference can claim anything even close to that for title contention? How many titles have Stanford, Arizona, or even Oregon won in the last 10 years? How about Michigan, Wisconsin, Michigan State? It's a rather weak argument. Though I do agree with Pete that conference shouldn't matter in the end.

And the QB listing shows just how weak some of these arguments are. The QB is looked at as the "weak" position from the SEC in the NFL, and look at that list. The SEC group is about as good as any other conference top to bottom. While no conference is dominant. Matt Cassell? Really? Now go do the same thing for defensive stars in the NFL, at just about any position.

Should, yes. Though it'll be a lot better when we add a round and knock off a couple weeks from the layoff time IMO.

I think everyone should agree with this. An 8 team playoff would be perfect. As long as they didn't put 5 SEC teams in it every year.
