Bill

Although I think you COULD be right about Moss, I not fully convinced, he may just be playing with a very conservative QB that doesn't play to his strengths. Maybe he's just in SF so he can smoke some ganja ? Or maybe SF is saving him for late season and the playoffs ?

Restating what I said about Harvin:

Harvin is a productive WR, but I think he'd be even MORE productive, and he'd more likely to stay healthy if the Vikes had a good #1 with size to go with him, and Bowe fits that IMNSHO.

I get your point about Harvins' size. But he is tough, and has not had any injury problems since the migranes.

We do need a big possesion wr. Childs was drafted and fit the mold. I'd rather try again in the draft next year than pay pay Bowe all that money. Harvin needs to be locked up long term before any high dollar wr is brought in.

Building thru the draft is the best way to have perrenial success. Just take our sole high dollar FA aqusition last year and that should help confirm my point.

I will be patiently waiting for Vilma, Brees, and all the other whiners to now step up and apologize for insinuating that the NFL Commish had no proof, had no whistle-blower, had no grounds.
But I won't be holding my breath.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8572003/jonathan-vilma-brief-adds-whistleblower-email-mike-cerullo-report

Let these overblown primadonnas spew accusations, get it out there front-page ... and then when they get proven wrong ... its back-page stuff.
You got caught.
Then you lied about stopping it and instead increased it.
Then you acted indignant and demanded proof, instead of accepting your punishment.
Shut the hell up and apologize.

And the poor bastard weasel who whistle-blew is now exposed, and his career is most likely on the rocks (yeah, his choice)
Happy now?
I feel no sympathy for any of these clowns. None.
Goodell got tough like we all tell him he needs to .... and now people are too squeamish to follow thru.
Screw that. Fry em.

Right on, Scott.

Does Jason Garrett paint on his eyebrows? Dude looks like a cartoon character, plastic-face.
Payton situation will be a media-frenzy. Lots of Dallas talk.
Maybe getting "Doug Martin"-ed last week wasn't so embarrassing. [:D]

Testament to how good the scouting and coaching is in most of the NFL ...
You watch a couple weeks and swear some teams are awesome and unbeatable.
Couple weeks later, they're struggling just like everyone else.
So great to see all the adjustments good staffs make in order to shut people down, or get their own game up to standards.
I thought early on SF was by far the best in the league. Not so sure they're even above the middle of the pack right now.
NE had it going and is now barely surviving. GB struggled but has turned it around. The Giants seemed unbeatable, now can't win a game.
Atlanta looked human today. Seattle may be as scary as anyone.
Every team has great talent.
How they are used and coached up is what makes the league great.

"It's not like they came out here and won a game," said White, who finished Sunday's game with seven catches for 114 yards.

"I think we kind of gave it to them," said White, who made headlines last week when he said he believed the Falcons had the "pedigree" to finish 16-0. "We play them in three weeks, and we'll be ready."

Me thinks Roddy White should just shut up at this point.....You talked shit Roddy and it came back and bit you in the ass.....just go play football now.

thebigo -> RE: Does Manning know the power of weed? (11/12/2012 1:56:20 PM)

The Rams could end up with 2 top 5 picks 2013 draft, 2 top 10ers almost certainly.

Ed_Marotske -> RE: Does Manning know the power of weed? (11/12/2012 2:01:30 PM)

Explain....Just cuz I don't wanna look it up.  Oh...they get the Redskins pick this season......Hmmmmmm Interesting.  Wonder if they will use both or if they will parlay them into more future picks?

WOW, the Falcons let go of Ray Edwards :

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/blog/eye-on-football/20957288/report-falcons-set-to-release-defensive-end-ray-edwards

Solid player who needs a good player like Allen on the other side. What I liked best about Edwards was that he turned it up in playoff games, and he seemed to have really good hand eye coordination quickness. I hope he doesn't end up playing for the Bears or Packers.

Are you going to post this in every thread hoping it won't get ripped somewhere?

marty -> RE: Does Manning know the power of weed? (11/13/2012 8:51:57 PM)

I meant to delete this one after I posted it on the Vikes thread.

But now that you mention it, this one went a day without getting ripped, and makes a good point about hoping neither the Bears nor Packers pick him up.

Yeah, Ray Guy should be in the HOF. And Kluwe is getting a little tiresome.

(1.) QB JaMarcus Russell – Oakland Raiders – 2007 (First overall) LSU

[image]http://otrsportsonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/JaMarcus-Russell.jpg[/image]
A perfect storm occurred for Russell to be selected number one overall. Then Raiders owner Al Davis – known for his affinity for the deep vertical passing game – wanted a quarterback who could throw it downfield to his speedy receivers. However, Russell showed little to nothing justifying the $68 million contract with $31.5 million guaranteed he received, and within three seasons he was out of football. He was arrested in 2010 for possessing codeine syrup without a prescription.
There was no doubt about his big arm after showcasing his skills in the Sugar Bowl earlier that year against Ohio State. His accuracy left much to be desired and his off-field transgressions had many questioning his work ethic, even his teammates. Ultimately, he is now infamous for being one of the biggest busts in NFL history, not just in the past decade.
Career Stats:
4,083 passing yards
18 Touchdowns
23 Interceptions
65.2  QB Rating

How many former players throwing their name in the hat for the lawsuit had the same mentality?

That name Parker, sounds familiar.

Seattle Seahawks starting cornerbacks Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner are facing four-game suspensions for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy, according to league sources. Both Sherman and Browner tested positive and are appealing their suspensions, insisting they are innocent, according to sources. The appeal could be heard as early as this week.
The absence of both Sherman and Browner would be a huge blow to the Seahawks (6-5), who dropped a 24-21 decision Sunday to the Miami Dolphins but still are competing for a playoff spot in the NFC.
If the suspensions are upheld, Seattle would have to lean on veteran Marcus Trufant to replace Sherman at left cornerback, and Walter Thurmond to replace Browner at right cornerback.
Ironically, Seattle is locked in a race with Tampa Bay (6-5) for an NFC wild-card spot. The Buccaneers have had two starting cornerbacks (Eric Wright and Aqib Talib, who later was traded to New England) suspended for four games for using Adderall.
The 6-foot-3 Sherman leads the Seahawks with four interceptions this season while the 6-4 Browner, a Pro Bowler in 2011, has three interceptions.

Not surprising.

Its fascinating when fake empires collapse.   [&:]
Rexy drives out even the craziest of fans.

New York Jets superfan Fireman Ed, who for decades has fueled home crowds with his famous "J-E-T-S!" cheer, has decided to "R-E-T-I-R-E!"

Ed Anzalone, who created a stir Thanksgiving night when he left MetLife Stadium at halftime of the Jets' 49-19 loss to the New England Patriots and deleted his Twitter account, announced Sunday night that he no longer will attend home games as Fireman Ed.

The hits just keep coming for the 4-7 Jets, who became a national laughingstock with a mistake-filled performance on national TV.

Anzalone, in a guest column for Metro New York, explains that the Jets' poor season isn't the reason why he has decided to hang up his fireman's helmet. He writes he left the game because "confrontations with other Jets fans have become more common, even though most Jets fans are fantastic."

He says he also left early during the previous home game, a 30-9 loss to the Miami Dolphins.

Anzalone cites his loyalty to embattled starting quarterback Mark Sanchez as the cause of the confrontations.

"The stadium has become divided because of the quarterback controversy," he claims. "The fact that I chose to wear a Mark Sanchez jersey this year, and that fans think I am on thepayroll -- which is an outright lie -- have made these confrontations more frequent. Whether it's in the stands, the bathroom or the parking lot, these confrontations are happening on a consistent basis."

Fireman Ed always used to wear No. 42 (Bruce Harper's old jersey), but he switched to Sanchez in a show of support. During the 2010 season, Anzalone, whorarely attends road games, flew to Pittsburgh and sat near the Jets' bench because he wanted to be there for the then-slumping Sanchez.

Like Sanchez's father, Anzalone is a retired firefighter. He didn't return messages seeking comment.

Fireman Ed, 53, has been a Jets fan since 1975. He popularized the cheer that's known around the NFL: "J-E-T-S! Jets! Jets! Jets!" For the 2012 season opener, he was invited by the team toin_hdr="">participate in the pregame ceremony, leading the cheer from midfield.

He was a staple at Jets home games, leading his cheer from his seat at MetLife Stadium. He always appeared on the JumboTron and often received face time on the game telecast. In September 2009, he received a game ball from coach Rex Ryan after the Jets upset the Patriots at home.

Anzalone was well-known throughout the league. He once said he was walking through a stadium parking lot when Patriots owner Robert Kraft drove up in a limo, rolled down the window and complimented him for being a positive influence on the league.

Fireman Ed said he will continue to root for the Jets and attend games, just not in his usual garb.

"I have enjoyed my time in chanting the greatest chant in all of sports," he says. "I have enjoyed meeting all the wonderful Jets fans around the world and look forward to the day we all can raise the Lombardi Trophy as one and celebrate a world championship down the Canyon of Heroes."
