Good to see Wieters back in the mix for the O's.
Nasty scene in Boston as a shattered bat puts a woman in serious condition.
Oaklands ambidextrous pitcher makes his debut.
Cowbell just keeps on raking for the Jays.

Golly Gee: Mets pitcher miffed after move

The Mets moved back to a five-man rotation, sending Dillon Gee to the bullpen, and Gee didn't hold back: "I felt like any [trade] value -- if I had any at all -- before this, it's probably gone. I felt like there's really not a whole lot of good that comes from it." 'Nothing I can do'

Given his butcher of theOF, plus he's had plenty of e's at first, Cowbell is a DH

Know of any team that could have used a guy like that??

A little surprised they gave up on him, after that hot April, and he admitted he was trying to play hurt.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (6/6/2015 9:04:14 PM)

He could be my DH anyday

The Stros see an opp to go for this thing ... they are bringing up #1 prospect SS Correa

I thought there was a really good case to be made for him over Buxton, despite a lot of folks ripping the Astros for it. I don't regret that we got Buxton for a second obviously, but I don't think we would have regretted getting Correa either. But superstars in the making.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (6/7/2015 8:07:20 PM)

Yanks are rollin .... McCanns been a great pickup.
Girardi has weathered the storm and once again has them near the top, where they should almost always be.

Like I said last week .... we seem to get teams rolling.
Bosox haven't lost since we left.

This Brewer team isn't as bad as they've played either.
Some damn tough outs in that lineup. They'll only get better.

As we slow-play another one ....

djskillz -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (6/7/2015 8:32:52 PM)

I don't know about it in Buxton's case, man. I still think he'll be up in August or so this year, and I still think he would have been up last year if he didn't get hurt. I'm all for "cautious" in his case; make sure the rust is shaken off. Once he's up, he's up for good.

HOUSTON -- The Houston Astros are calling up top prospect Carlos Correa, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 draft.

Correa began the season No. 3 in ESPN MLB Insider Keith Law's prospect rankings.

The team announced Sunday night that Correa will join the Astros in Chicago on Monday, in time for the opener of a three-game series against the White Sox. Correa was with Triple-A Fresno after beginning the season with Double-A Corpus Christi and was hitting a combined .335 with 10 home runs, 44 RBI and 21 doubles with 18 stolen bases.

The Astros have also optioned right-hander Jake Buchanan to Fresno, and a subsequent move to the 40-man roster will be made Monday.

Among baseball's most surprising performances is that of the first-place Astros, who, with a record of 34-24, hold a 3½-game lead in the AL West despite their current four-game skid. Led by left-hander Dallas Keuchel's sensational start -- 7-1 record and 1.85 ERA -- the Astros' starting rotation has been among the finest in baseball, and the team's plus-18 run differential is in the top 10 in the majors.

At 20, Correa will be the youngest player in the majors. He was drafted out of the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy when he was 17.

Lots of teams are calling up their hot-rods in hopes of catching lightning in a bottle.

Hmmmm

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (6/8/2015 2:26:55 PM)

This would be a guy to offer a PTBNL or lo-minor nobody for

The Astros announced that they have designated third baseman Matt Dominguez for assignment in order to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for top prospect Carlos Correa, whose promotion is now official.

Dominguez is only 25

MN has no depth if Plouffe gets hurt.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (6/8/2015 9:41:58 PM)

Stros starting to come back to earth?
Jays tearing everyone apart.
Holliday goes down for Cards as they are getting whalloped in the Rocky Mts tonight.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (6/8/2015 11:12:35 PM)

The only Astros player who did not swing and miss at a Chris Sale pitch on Monday night was Carlos Correa

He will be a superstar. Just like Buxton.

Stacey King -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (6/9/2015 9:55:10 AM)

Fewest IP per start, 2015 (min 7 starts)

A Bradley 4.46
S Strasburg 4.53
B Norris 4.62
R Nolasco 4.67
M Latos 4.74
D Duffy 4.79

djskillz -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (6/9/2015 9:56:35 AM)

Amazing how far Strasburg has fallen. Latos is a bit of a surprise as well.

Stacey King -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (6/9/2015 10:46:37 AM)

How bad are the A's?
Sonny Gray has a 1.65 ERA and has held opponents to a .186/.245/.237 line and yet the A's are just 7-5 in his starts

Every year some want to count the Flags out, but that pitching staff is scary and they drafted pretty well at that position.

djskillz -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (6/9/2015 2:01:49 PM)

The big thing is Sale has been healthy, which is totally unexpected IMO. I, and many others, would have bet the house he'd be hurt by now.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (6/9/2015 9:02:40 PM)

Yanks keep ROLLIN
Brew Crew stays hot
Detroit back on the beam

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (6/9/2015 9:54:45 PM)

Dammit.
Looks like I lost money on my "bet my local rag is the worst newspaper in America" again .....
