Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (6/29/2016 7:04:04 AM)

There hasn’t been a pitcher in baseball this season more valuable to his team than Clayton Kershaw is to the Los Angeles Dodgers. And we may see soon just how much better he’s made the mostly unspectacular Dodgers this season.

The club announced Tuesday that Kershaw would be leaving its current road trip in Milwaukee and traveling back to the Los Angeles to see the team’s back specialist.

Go Giants!

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (6/29/2016 8:28:11 AM)

Joe Maddon had three relief pitchers in the OF by the end of their game last night.
Dude is fun to watch.

He is seriously considering finding relief pitchers who are athletes and can be switched back and forth depending on the lefty righty match ups.
Outside the box.
Should rattle a bunch of cages.

HERESY(opinion profoundly at odds with what is generally accepted.)!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (6/29/2016 8:39:50 AM)

next thing you know he'll want pitchers who not only can occasionally hit, but hit one out of the park [;)]

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (6/29/2016 8:40:18 AM)

Theo Epstein has done it again.
Built the best team.
All under the age of 26. Boy genius.
First team to 50 wins.

Lenny Dykstra humping his new book on ESPN this morning.
Holding nothing back.
Fascinating character. Most hate him. I find a lot of what he spouts to be extremely interesting.

And when they need new starters?
He'll go get as many of the best he can.
The Cubbies sure don't grow those, but they do position-players.

If that was a Park or Buxton game boxscore most would say they were "making progress".

Watching Tiggers and Fish today
Strange hearing BlackJack do others games.
Never thought he'd be a lifer

I think he splits his time with Toronto, Detroit and Minnesota pretty evenly.

As well he should.

After all, Jack always was a tiger, then he always wanted to be a Twin/Blue Jay.

M
Madison Bumgarner launches a two-run homer into the seats in left field, his second homer of the year, to give the Giants a 2-0 lead
San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy is putting all his trust in Madison Bumgarner. Instead of using a designated hitter for the final game of their home-and-home series with the Oakland Athletics, Bochy is letting starter Bumgarner take his hacks in the lineup.

With Bochy going with Bumgarner instead of a DH, MLB.com’s Chris Haft says the Giants are doing something that hasn’t been done in 40 years.

The Giants thus will become the first team to opt against using a designated hitter when it has one at its disposal since 1976, when the Chicago White Sox allowed starter Ken Brett, Hall of Fame third baseman George Brett’s brother, to hit for himself.

Could get interesting in extra innings.

Marlins trade for Fernando Rodney, apparently giving up an A ball prospect.

BTW, Hu is on the international team for the Futures game.

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (6/30/2016 3:21:50 PM)

Bud Norris, who has strung together some good starts, traded by the braves to LAD.

Smart. Got rid of him before he returned to suck-ville, where he's been on the city council for a couple of years.

How terrible:

Terrible news to pass along. Phillies left-handed pitching prospect Matt Imhof has lost his right eye as a result of a freak accident at the ballpark. A resistance band mounted to the wall broke off and hit Imhof in the face, reports Matt Breen of the Philadelphia Inquirer
