The"lucky" Royals are getting back to being the best in the Division. They still scare the crap out of me.
Cleveland will be in the race until the end as well.
The Flags continue to bolster their minor league system with young talent. I hate them too, but they are accumulating a lot of talent.

Glad to see Dustin talk about Mauer wining the Gold Glove. He has been superb at 1B defensively.

Rays outfielder Colby Rasmus has been placed on the restricted list as he has decided to “step away from baseball,” per a club announcement. Rasmus is not expected to return to the organization this year; he had been under contract only for the 2017 season.

Details of the matter are not apparent, with the club stating that it wishes to “respect[] the privacy of Colby and his family.”

What's crazy is I never even noticed the old jerseys were often zippers instead of buttons. I thought they had always been buttons. Guess I'm not very observant.

Sandoval finally DFA'ed by the Sawwwwwks
Relevant teams do that, they take chances, sometimes they fail badly, but they don't dwell on it, they move on.

So all those years, all we needed to do was get Punto a zippered jersey?

Proving again with this action, along with the Allen Craig release from AAA, the $$$ paid to Rusney Castillo, still at AAA

They make a ton of money. TONS.

Some just choose to spend more of it.

Yankees RHP Michael Pineda has partial tear of UCL. Recommendation is Tommy John surgery, but Pineda is seeking 2nd opinion.

Dang, it's tough to survive a season w/o some guys having this.

KRod should be about ready for the Twins now, as the Nats let him go from his minor league deal.

CINCINNATI -- The Nationals made the first steps to try and shore up their struggling bullpen Sunday, as they acquired relievers Ryan Madson and Sean Doolittle from the Athletics in exchange for Blake Treinen and prospects Jesus Luzardo and Sheldon Neuse.
Madson, a 12-year veteran, is 2-4 with a 2.06 ERA in 40 appearances this season. In three years since having Tommy John surgery, he has a 2.69 ERA in 171 games.

Doolittle has a 3.38 ERA in 23 appearances this season, and hasn't allowed a hit over three innings in his last three outings.

The Nationals bullpen currently ranks last in the Major Leagues in ERA (5.34), opponent batting average (.280) and OPS (.825).

Neuse and Luzardo were Washington's No. 6 and No. 10 prospects, respectively, according to MLBPipeline.com. Neuse, a third baseman, hit .291 with nine homers and 51 RBIs with Class A Advanced Hagerstown this season. Lefty Luzardo was 1-0 with a 1.32 ERA in three starts this season with the GCL Nationals of the Gulf Coast League.

Treinen was 8-11 with a 3.39 ERA in 185 games with the Nationals from 2014-'17.

Dangit

we're kicking sonny gray tires with little taps. Other teams are making improvements.

I'm still sold on making moves to improve. The division is wide open. So is the wild card
