Seems like Sale has been around too long to just now hit 1,500 strikeouts.

Same though
Seems strange

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (8/30/2017 12:41:07 PM)

Nats activate Scherzer and my boy Jayson Werth
Dodgers activate Kershaw for the stretch run

Now those ARE like making a great trade. [&:][&:]

Yesterday I heard Mackey say "with Buxton, it's like the Twins made a trade for the best player in the league for the stretch run."

That's a bit of a stretch.

But he has been pretty badass lately.

Albert Pujols of the Los Angeles Angels is the most feared hitter of his generation — one of the greatest ever to step into a batter’s box. He ranks eighth all-time in home runs, seventh in extra-base hits and 10th in total bases. At his peak, he won three MVP awards and was also the best position player in baseball — according to wins above replacement (WAR)1

— three times (in 2006, 2008 and 2009). Pujols’s resume makes him a surefire first-ballot Hall of Famer.

But this season, a new title can be assigned to Pujols: He’s the worst player in baseball.

Pujols has flat-out stunk up Angel Stadium. He’s hitting .230 (79 points below his previous career average) with an on-base plus slugging 26 percent worse than league average. Even in an age of ineffective designated hitters, Pujols has easily been the worst hitter at the position that provides the least defensive value (i.e., zero value). As a result, no player has been less valuable than Pujols this year: His -1.99 WAR ranks dead last among all players (including pitchers).

If he finishes the season in last place — which seems quite possible, as L.A. continues to pencil him into its starting lineup, day after day, despite his poor numbers — Pujols will become the first modern2

position player ever to be both baseball’s best and worst player at various points in his career. The worst finish by a former No. 1 player previously belonged to the delightfully named New York Yankees second baseman Snuffy Stirnweiss. Snuffy was baseball’s top position player in 1945, when many of the league’s best (such as Ted Williams, Stan Musial and Joe DiMaggio) were serving in the military. But he was also the league’s second-worst player in 1950, a miserable season that saw him hit .216 and get traded from the 98-win Yankees to the 58-win St. Louis Browns.

Am I the only baseball fan that doesn't care about a Red Sox-Yankees game? MLB Network, give me any 2 other teams and I'm watching. Now I'm swinging thru the guide looking for a King of Queens re-run.

The Yankees have placed outfielder Aaron Hicks on the 10-day DL with an oblique strain. This means $153M man Jacoby Ellsbury will receive more playing time between Aaron Judge and Brett Gardner in the Yankees outfield. Clint Frazier, who has been out with an oblique strain, is about to begin a minor league rehab. Frazier could be ready in around a week or so. The Yankees called up reliever Caleb Smith in a corresponding move.

Hicks has now strained the oblique on both sides this year.

Ha Ha. Red Sox got caught cheating. [:D]

twinsfan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (9/6/2017 7:31:39 PM)

Cliff Floyd is cool.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (9/7/2017 8:01:54 AM)

How typical
If any other team had been caught openly cheating .... the nation would have exploded and been calling for heads to roll.
Red Sox? ummmm, ahhhhhhhh, lets move on.

You'd all be hyperventilating if it was the Yankees, and calling for banners to be removed.

RIP, Stick.

Gene "Stick" Michael, the New York Yankees executive who helped build the club's late-1990s dynasty teams, has died. He was 79.

Michael served as Yankees manager in 1981-82 and as their general manager from 1991-95.

During his time as GM, he restocked the farm system and built the Core Four of Derek Jeter, Andy Pettitte, Mariano Rivera and Jorge Posada via the draft or free agency. He also traded for Paul O'Neill to shape the group that helped the Yankees win World Series titles in 1996, 1998, 1999 and 2000.

Completely forgot where I heard it, but it went something like this...

Boston Red Sox caught cheating. Tom Brady will be suspended for six games.
