Gio sucks

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/12/2017 8:20:16 PM)

Now I realize this will bite me in the ass ... but why does Chicago live with Jason Heyward in their lineup?
I must have zero scouting ability because to me he has been their weakest link, by about ten times ... for years.
he kept their games close last year, by being so putrid, imo.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/12/2017 8:34:49 PM)

Just crazy how 4 innings now is what starters shoot for.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/12/2017 8:50:42 PM)

My boy Werth is on fire!

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/12/2017 9:26:03 PM)

Strike zones need to be larger. Games drag on forever. Hitters milk counts forever.

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/12/2017 9:34:52 PM)

How bad is the pitching market?

3.66 ERA with 6.4 K/9, 2.2 BB/9 and a 47.8 percent ground-ball rate

Will apparently get Cobb at least 18 mill

Rays, .....nonetheless expected to make righty Alex Cobb an $18.1MM qualifying offer

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/12/2017 9:36:37 PM)

Charley Walters of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports (via Twitter) that former Twins skipper and current Diamondbacks bench coach Ron Gardenhire is among the three favorites to succeed John Farrell as the next manager of the Red Sox. Indeed, Walters calls Gardenhire one of the “final three” for the post — a surprising development just over 24 hours after Farrell was dismissed.

Gotta agree
These have all turned into Yankee/Bosox marathons

At least I'll be able to focus all of my hate on one team. [&:]

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/12/2017 10:45:21 PM)

OH MY

Bases jacked, down 9-6, and Bryce Hoppa at the plate
Can you ask for anything more?

Ricky J -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/13/2017 7:16:24 AM)

Honestly, it is way too close to call who I can't stand to see win more, the Packers or the Cubs.

twinsfan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/13/2017 8:12:31 AM)

That 5th inning with Scherzer on the mound was as crazy as an inning can get. Wieters didn't help matters - at all. What a meltdown.

twinsfan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/13/2017 8:12:52 AM)

I don't think I would watch a Cubs-Yankees World Series.

twinsfan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/13/2017 8:15:52 AM)

A 9-inning game that lasts nearly 5 hours, with no weather delays. I dozed off in 7th and 8th, but woke up with 2 outs on the Nats in the 9th....so I did see the end. Shoulda gone to sleep after the ridiculous 5th inning.

ronhextall -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/13/2017 8:32:57 AM)

The media in the northeast area of the country would eat Gardenhire alive. Not to mention the national scrutiny he would face because its "The RedSox".

Please let this happen.

MDK -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/13/2017 8:42:38 AM)

This has not been a playoffs where veteran pitchers who are considered the top pitchers in their respective rotations, have shined. One pitcher has come to the forefront.......CC.

twinsfan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/13/2017 9:16:40 AM)

Just saw the overturned call at 1B on the Lobaton pick-off. What a travesty. How you can call him out on that, especially when he was called safe on the field, is beyond belief. I'd be really pissed if I was a Nats fan.

That's why I don't put 100% stock into the theory that you NEED an ace. You just don't. And Sabathia is no ace anymore. You just need your pitchers to pitch well in the playoffs, ace or not. Kluber, Scherzer, Kershaw, all playoff jokes. And there were others as well.
