Hope Kurt Russell also gets involved in Portlands attempt to land a team.
Theres real history there

Netflix has a documentary about it. I think I recommended that you watch it.

Great story
Exactly the opposite of how I remember it, but  ...
Real story is, its a great story.
And Kurts an awesome dude.

[:D]

Kind of like how CPAMAN remembers that he came up with Byron Buston.

It was Todd. He came up with it after his first minor league game.

Aaron Judge struck out for the 7th time today and the 12th time in June.

Today is June 4th.

Yogi Berra struck out 12 times in 1950.

Then he struck out after that for an 8th time on the day.

Judge needs to learn when to shorten that swing, especially at home. His smooth, soft stroke is enough to lift it out. He still wants to hit it too hard to often. 330 down either line counts the same as 450 straight.

As a Yankee fan, I'm not worried about him. I'm worried about Sanchez. He's not good behind the plate, and he keeps getting heavier. He could very easily find himself a PH, not DH, too many better options.

KC One-Hit by LAA Heaney late last night

Scherzer had a 9 pitch 3K inning. Second time in his career.

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (6/6/2018 2:44:26 PM)

The Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hype train was brought to a startling halt Wednesday when he was removed from Double-A New Hampshire's game against Akron with an apparent leg injury.

Baseball's No. 2 prospect -- and currently the highest-ranked player still in the Minors -- reached on an infield single to begin the fourth inning. After Cavan Biggio followed with a single of his own, Guerrero Jr. advanced to second before being replaced by pinch runner Gunnar Heidt.

In his first at-bat, Guerrero Jr. roped a line-drive single to left field before beating out the infield single to second base in the fourth. He slid into second on Biggio's single to right. When he popped up from the slide, he immediately signaled to the dugout he wanted to be removed from the game.

Toronto's No. 1 prospect gingerly walked off the field under his own power.

The platelet treatment Ohtani got over the winter apparently wasn't enough. Reportedly needs TJ surgery.

I am not disappointed for the Angels, a team and manager that I can't stand.

But I am very sad for Ohtani. He was a genuine superstar in the making. A player that could both pitch and hit..........baseball and its fall into such a sterile and sabermetric game needed a player like Ohtani to get the game to try and think outside the box and out of the cookbook.

I hope his TJ surgery goes well.

Best record in Triple-A? That belongs to @MudHens under skipper Doug Mientkiewicz:
38-23 (.623)

Is anyone surprised?

Still don't understand why he was let go.

Made no sense.

He seems like just the ticket to light the fire under our MLB club.

Move Molly to special assistant to the front office and bring Dougie baseball back.

Not a bit surprised. The stupidity of giving Mientkiewicz the boot is just mind numbing. It sounds like he didn't fit the manage to analytics approach that Falvine wanted. All he did was teach young players how to produce and win. Why the hell would we want that in our organization?

I'll give Gardy his due for this one. He lobbied the Tiger organization to hire Dougie. If all his moves were that good, he would still be managing here.

Doug will be managing a major league team soon and they will play well for him. Sad it wont be here.

twinsfan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (6/14/2018 10:52:32 AM)

I'm not sure why this isn't bigger news:

Adrian Beltre doubled against Dodgers right-hander Kenta Maeda during the fourth inning Wednesday night for his 3,090th career hit. Beltre surpassed Ichiro Suzuki for the most base knocks recorded by a non-U.S. native. He finished the evening 3-for-4, including a walk, during Wednesday's 3-2 extra-inning defeat to the Dodgers.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (6/14/2018 3:28:04 PM)

Not sure I woulda had him in the top twenty on that list ...
That's a shocker to me
Maybe even not top-50

JT2 -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (6/15/2018 7:57:42 PM)

Nice debut for Loaisiga. 5 IP, 3 H, 6 K's, 4 BB's.

He really stays on top of the ball, keeps it down. Small and scrawny, but hit 98mph a few times.

A little too careful tonight, and the changeup isn't fooling anybody. I think he has a lot of positives though. I think we'll see a lot more of him.

With Tanaka out, you bet.

Easy to be him. Stud lineup behind him. KNOWS he has run support

Yes and no. It's a great park for HR's. Even slappy lefties can reach that short fence.
And, some guys fade when the lights are brightest. Good debut.

It is nice to know and believe that your offense almost always has your back.

KC waving the white flag apparently

Jeff Passan

Source: The Kansas City Royals have traded closer Kelvin Herrera to the Washington Nationals. @JonHeyman said it was close.

Makes sense. You have to have something to close.

Ian Kennedy started waving the white flag two years ago.

We need to talk more about what this guy is doing:

In the month of June, Mike Trout is hitting .439/.535/.772. He currently leads the league in the following categories: home runs (23), runs (60), walks (62), on-base percentage (.464), OPS (1.152) OPS+ (217), and total bases (176). The best way to talk about Mike Trout’s season is to just be as blunt as possible: nobody in the history of baseball has ever played baseball this well.

And oh yeah....he has reached base safely in 25 of his last 32 plate appearances. How's that for amazing?!?!

All that

and he had a terrible series vs the Twins.

Never really gotten into the "Trout or Harper" discussion ..... but that's always been an easy choice imo.

And I'm not just saying this because Harpers currently in a slump to end all slumps. [:D]
