LAD are not picking him up for his SS prowess

Of all shortstops with at least 30 innings in the field, Manny Machado ranks 69th (last) at -19 Defensive Runs Saved.

Eduardo Escobar (-7) is 63rd.

Ian Joseph -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (7/17/2018 7:31:25 PM)

No, they need his bat, bad.

It's because you're old.

Vlad didn't retire all that long ago. And he was an Expo.

They were kicking everyone's ass in 1994, cruising to a div title and the postseason, then the powers that be decided to cancel a World Series. Montreal the city gave up entirely on baseball after that. They struggled mightily to get anyone to come to their games. seriously drawing 2000 or less frequently. City decided not to build them a new stadium then and ownership just gave up, sold to master cheap ass Jeffrey Loria That's why they moved to Washington DC.

I could see them expanding back there or moving the Rays there.

You move the Rays there and call them the Expos??? Sellouts for 3 straight years. I'd consider investing in the team if they'd take my dollar bills.

From ELIAS: The Red Sox (Alex Cora) and Yankees (Aaron Boone) are each led by first-year managers.
Only 4 managers in MLB history have won 100 games in their first year as manager (Mickey Cochrane, Ralph Houk, Sparky Anderson, Dusty Baker). It’s never happened twice in one year.

Damn, any of us could have made history.

We're both officially old as dirt.

I used to be older than Tim Raines and Andre Dawson. Then they passed me. I'm not complaining, I'm just confused.

Mets’ minor-league OF Tim Tebow broke the hamate bone in his right hand swinging the bat this weekend and is scheduled to have surgery Tuesday and is now likely out for the season, per MLB source.

Plouffe walk-off HR for the Phillies in the 16th last night.

It was hit off a position player.

But you gotta finish the job, and he did.

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (7/25/2018 10:40:23 AM)

Source confirms that Boston gets Nate Eovaldi. Jalen Beeks heads to the Rays. @Ken_Rosenthal had the deal first.

Do you think it's easier for a major leaguer to hit a HR off a pitching machine or a position player?

MLers are petrified to face position guys
You're in a lose/lose about 99% of the time

Great line in a SI piece on Dale Murphy ....

Should a man who never juiced be rewarded for the home runs he never hit?

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (7/26/2018 12:18:49 PM)

So ... last night at Wrigley ...
a big iron bar falls off the scoreboard and NAILS a kid in the stands on the head
THE ONE KID in the place, who was WEARING A PLASTIC BUCKET on his head.
The plastic bucket saved him from serious injury or death.

I'm gonna quietly just leave this one here and slink away.
Cue the Rod Serling music.

Divine intervention. Or Billy Graham looking down from above. Wait, that's maybe the same thing.

It's fortuitous to be sure...but there is nothing divine or mystical about it. Superstition does not explain this away.

Kid was lucky, damn lucky.
