Seeing the Yankees and Red Sox playing in the wild card game just made me think...what a perfect time and place for an asteroid strike.

Eh no big deal

But when the cheaters and the White Sux play

That would work

Sinkhole swallow would work too

Stadium implosion

I have no animosity toward the White Flags, but yeah, a sink hole swallowing up the Ass-tro Holes would be awesome. I did enjoy seeing the $324 Million Man implode. I still say that much money for 9 years for a pitcher is just dumb as ass.

So no new talks are currently scheduled and they've hardly met since the lockout began.

Explain to me again how you can resolve your differences if you are NOT talking?

Enough of this bullshit.

Sit down. Talk. Work it out.

We need Jimmy Carter make these two sides start talking or something.

RIP Gerald Williams, 55.

The Lockout is over.

They have an agreement.

regular season to start April 7

Let the remaining free agent feeding frenzy begin.

Will the Twins add a pitcher or two? If they don't they may as well kiss this season goodbye

Man, I hate these stories! RIP Odalis. [:@] I remember your career fondly.

Former MLB pitcher Odalis Perez died after an accident at his Dominican Republic home on Thursday, his attorney told ESPN's Enrique Rojas.

Perez apparently fell from a ladder at his home when he was there alone, per the report.

He was 43.

Perez made his MLB debut in 1998 with the Atlanta Braves, where he spent his first three seasons before he was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2002. Perez earned his one All-Star nod that season after going 15-10 with a 3.00 ERA in more than 222 innings. He spent five seasons in Los Angeles before a short stint with the Kansas City Royals.

Perez then closed out his career with the Washington Nationals, and he was actually the first player to throw a pitch in their new stadium in 2008.

Cardinals pitcher loses no-hitter with 2 out in the 9th. Too bad he didn't have Buxton out there to catch that one.

Lynn G. -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (8/1/2022 2:51:07 PM)

What is the opinion of the Brewers trading away Hader to the Padres for Taylor Rodgers and four others? Sounds pretty aggressive to me, and perhaps a pretty stupid move by the Padres. Hader seems to have lost his touch a bit and has been losing some saves that the younger Hader never would have lost.

Hader is bad karma.

Brewers fans I work with are ok with it. One thinks they'll try to flip Rogers, who won't close in MIL.

Trekgeekscott -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/5/2022 2:44:56 PM)

Playoffs have been seeded.

the below participants as I see them:

Astros Won it all in 2017, cheated to do it. In every ALCS in the last 5 seasons.. No thanks,
Yankees Last win 2009 but they have 27 so never again.
Mariners Never even been to the World Series
Blue Jays Won 92 and 93.
Rays Lost in their only WS to Phillies
Guardians Last won in the 40s Last appearance lost to Cubs

Dodgers Just won in 2020
Braves Reigning champs
Padres Never won, been there twice
Mets They've won a couple
Phillies Last time champs, beat Rays
Cardinals second most titles all time to the Yankees. they can never win again.

Astros have had too much success in the past half decade, screw them
Yankees, I would be very happy if they never win another, or even appear in another World Series in my lifetime.
Dodgers are starting to get into the Astros and Yankees level of no more Cardinals too
Braves just won so screw them
Phillies aren't that far removed from a title.
Mets spent like drunken sailors trying to buy a championship

So the teams I would most like to see advance to the WS
Guardings, Rays, Blue Jays, Mariners and Padres.

I generally root for the least recent title (unless the Twins are in it, and against the Yankees no matter what), so I am hoping for a Mariners/Padres WS.

Chances of that happening. about 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000134%

But I can hope can't I?

Great news, I could actually watch the World Series this year because Joe Buck will NOT be calling it.

Guardians have a longer drought than Padres or Mariners, so I'm pulling for the Guardians.

That's just being there. Mariners have never been there. Padres have never won. Guardians (when they were the indians) were in the WS vs the Cubs not that long ago.

That being said I will root for the Guardians if the Mariners are eliminated.

What's longer ago? 1948, 1969 or 1977?

The point is that the Guardians (Indians) have Won a world series, albeit 74 years ago. The Padres haven't. The Mariners haven't even played in one.

Rays have played in one as well, but haven't won. The way that I root for teams after the Twins and against the Yankees, Dodgers, Cardinals etc. is first teams that have never won, second, the longest drought of those that have. That means that in this playoff field I will root for the Mariners, Rays and Padres first, Guardians next because of the longest drought 74 years, Then the Mets (36 years) then the Blue Jays (29 years). then Phillies (14 years) If I kept going with the remaining teams it would be in the following order, Astros, Braves, Dodgers, Cardinals, Yankees.

Of all the teams in the postseason, the one I want to see win the least is the Yankees.

Trekgeekscott -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/7/2022 3:03:43 PM)

Current Droughts for World series

Never won
Mariners - Never been there
Padres
Rockies
Rangers
Brewers
Rays

Indians/Guardians (74 years)
Pirates (43 years)
Orioles (39 years)
Tigers (38 years)
Mets (36 years)
A's (33 years)
Reds (32 years)
Twins (31 years)
Blue Jays (29 years)
Diamondbacks (21 years)
Angels (20 years)
Marlins (19 years)
White Sox (17 years)
Phillies (14 years)
Yankees (13 years) - and I hope this drought continues until I no longer draw breath.
Cardinals (11 years)
Giants (8 years)
Royals (7 years)
Cubs (6 years)
Astros (5 years)
Red Sox (4 years)
Nationals (3 years)
Dodgers (2 years)
Atlanta Braves (reigning)

So in my way of looking at the playoffs, I will, of course pick the Twins first. After that It's the six teams that have never won Starting with the Mariners who've never been there, then the other five in no particular order, then the oldest drought starting with the Guardians, Pirates, Orioles, Tigers, Mets, A's, Reds, Blue Jays, Diamondbacks, Angels, Marlins, White Sox, Phillies, Royals, Nationals.

Then the remaining teams for personal hatred and/or excessive WS wins reasons....Astros, Braves, Giants, Cubs, Red Sox, Dodgers, Cardinals, Yankees.

Does that make it abundantly clear?

This can change from year to year Mostly in the teams I hate changing position here and there....but for the most part this is how it will be for me for the rest of my life.

Trekgeekscott -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/7/2022 3:17:36 PM)

The first World Series was in 1903, since then only two years was there not a World Series, 1904 and 1994

The teams with the most appearances (and how many wins)
Yankees 40 (27)
Dodgers 21 (7)
Giants 20 (8)
Cardinals 19 (11)
As 14 (9)
Red Sox 13 (9)
Tigers 11 (4)
Cubs 11 (3)
Braves 10 (4)
Reds 9 (5)
Pirates 7 (5)
Orioles/Browns 7 (3)
Phillies 7 (2)
Twins(and Senators) 6 (3)
Indians/Guadians 6 (2)
Mets 5 (2)
White Sox 5 (3)
Royals 4 (2)
Astros 4 (1)
Blue Jays 2 (2)
Marlins 2 (2)
Padres 2 (0)
Rangers 2 (0)
Rays 2 (0)
Diamondbacks 1 (1)
Angels 1 (1)
Expos/Nationals 1 (1)
Brewers 1 (0)
Rockies 1 (0)
Mariners 0 (NA)
