Those 2 are in the sheople wheel house.

"are in on..." also.

Feh. Who cares if you're 2nd in the FA signing of a guy, or in the mix,but don't pull off the deal/trade?

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (2/5/2014 8:48:27 AM)

Braves commit to Freddie Freeman for 8 years/135 mill.

Only 2 years 13 mill to Heyward.

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (2/5/2014 8:52:21 AM)

Still several "Name" FA's available, a couple weeks before Spring Training starts.

Erv Santana
U Jimenez
Drew
F Rodney

Among the list.

We are in the mix.
We are feeling them out.
We are definitely interested.
We are testing the water.
We are weighing our options.
We are ....
Ok, I can't keep a straight face anymore.

So the Twins either don't try and lie about it.

or they are just a bunch of failures for the number of guys they "felt out" or should I say "up" and didn't land.

Are the Orioles satisfied with merely being good in a division that demands greatness?

Still, it’s hard to escape the feeling that by settling for Bud Norris and Jemile Weeks instead of chasing players like Tanaka and Cano, the O’s are selling themselves short; that by spending like the Royals when they can afford to shell out more, they’re letting down their fans; and that in a division that demands greatness, they’ve resigned themselves to merely being good.

Sounds familiar only

The Twins, in a division that doesn't demand greatness, have resigned themselves to merely being mediocre.

How is that propaganda? Has the potential to make TR look like an idiot. I don't think that's the look they're going for.

Are you using your own dictionary again? [;)]

ewen21 -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (2/6/2014 7:36:02 PM)

I'd have to say my first real emotional attachment to baseball started with this series. What happened at the 1:15 mark is something I will never forget. It made me hate Pete Rose and love a guy named Buzz Capra. Bob Murphy, not Ralph Kiner made the call
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xk7Ma8eDn5U

(Capra put a hurtin on Pedro Borbon and after the fight Borbon is said to have take a bite out of Capra's cap))[&:]

ewen21 -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (2/6/2014 7:42:20 PM)

This clip also makes me think of Kiner. If you ask me Harrelson was safe. I can never forget (although it's not in this clip) seeing Willie Mays on his knees pleading with the ump after he made this call. Here is the pic anyway:
[image]http://blog.photoshelter.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/mt-old/mays.jpg[/image]
It was one of his last games AND his last chance to get a WS ring. Watch Harrelson go berserk and then notice how not only Yogi Berra runs out of the dugout to argue, but also "Neon" Cleon Jones. He'd be fined (maybe suspended) for this little caper today:

God I loved baseball in those days.
A lot different game.

Guys who were injured ... limped. Or threw slower.
They didn't go on three month hiatus.
Just a completely different world.

God you are so right about that. Rusty Staub played the 1973 postseason with a separated shoulder. He threw the ball practically underhanded. One of the most valiant performances I have seen in all my years of watching baseball.

Several years later (my first real competitive baseball) when I was playing little league I burned the tips of my fingers. Dad dumped the charcoal briquettes (before the gas grill) deep in the back yard. I went back to retrieve a ball and--unfortunately for me--as I grabbed for the ball the tips of my fingers touched some of those coals my dad dumped. I burned (melted) two nails. A couple of days later, I taped up my fingers and just played. I was encouraged to play by my parents, actually.

I'm not trying to say that was any feat of courage on my part or anything like that. However, when I look back on it I have to give a nod to both my mom and dad for letting me play in a big game that I desperately didn't want to miss. I don't think many parents would sign off on that today. They did

Or, like Sandy Koufax, were done at 30.
