I really don't remember the last positive trade made by the Twins....
Guess it would have to be with the Giants in getting Liriano, etal. for A.J. Pierzynski!

LEN a couple years ago said BS getting Pavano from Cleveland in 2009 for a ptbnl was a stellar move when BS was getting heat.

A huge one on the positive side of the ledger.

of couse after Pavano went 17-11 in 2010 at age 34 with a low SO rate, the braintrust we call the

Twins gave him 16M for 2 years

and he went straight into the tank.

Twins cannot judge their own players. Proven time and time again.

Yasiel Puig has quickly emerged as the best right fielder in baseball, Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Monday.

Yasiel Puig's defense in right field is unrivaled, says Dodgers manager Don Mattingly.

The high praise for the 23-year-old Cuban comes with the one-year anniversary of his major league debut just a week away.

"We feel like, right now, Yasiel is the best right fielder in baseball," Mattingly told reporters. "This guy dominates right field."

Puig's speed and athleticism in the outfield were on display again last week, when he made a spectacular catch in right-center to deny Wilmer Flores of the New York Mets of a hit. The play even drew an ovation from many of the 23,416 pro-Mets fans in attendance at Citi Field.

Throw in Puig's cannon of an arm and you have a right fielder who no one in the majors wants to test, his manager says.

"The way he plays right field, he really stops the running game from first to third," Mattingly said.

Puig has four outfield assists this season, fourth among all major league outfielders. He has yet to commit an error.

Mattingly, though, doesn't plan on moving Puig to center field, where Matt Kemp has struggled and Andre Ethier recently has taken over.

"The whole goal of our team is to put our best club out there and play our best defense," Mattingly said. "If we move Yasiel to center, then we've weakened ourselves in right and he has to make an adjustment to center, and we don't know if he's going to be the best center fielder. We feel like we have the best right fielder in baseball right now."

Funny how Puig's talents are now over-shadowing "antics".

Just takes a little guidance.

our dinosaur leader of the org. would have been disgusted numerous times watching Puig develop.

Good move. That franchise has a bright future.

Its looking like another promising Royals stretch may not happen.
Thought they'd be much better.
But, they are the Royals.
Sad to see them this way, when I was a kid they were ass-kickers.

Brett was one of my favorite players that never wore a Twins jersey.

Mike Sweeney was another one for me. Plus a few of the old Royals like Beltran and Dye. A's win the World Series that year if Dye doesn't get hurt against the Yanks.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (5/28/2014 7:01:13 PM)

Royals can rival the Twins for "once having" some incredible names on their roster ...
tons of great names that panned out mostly other places

F Sweeney. He broke up Baker's perfecto.

Baker just can't stand up to the Sweeney clan. That's not our fault. [;)]

The Royals have once again shuffled their coaching staff in hopes of sparking a dormant offense, reports Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star (via Twitter). Dale Sveum will take over for Pedro Grifol as the hitting coach, with Grifol becoming the catching instructor and Mike Jirschele taking over at third. Oddly, the news comes just one day shy of the anniversary of the club’s shake-up last year, in which Hall of Famer George Brett temporarily took over as the batting instructor. (For what it’s worth, the Royals had a 21-29 record when they tapped Brett — who held the role for about two months — and ended up finishing the year ten games over .500.)

Why did I think we'd start hearing Royal rumblings?
Oh yeah .. because other places, when things aren't going well .... they MAKE CHANGES

The Edwin Encarnacion experience keeps on rolling in May. On Thursday, it caught up to Mickey Mantle.

Encarnacion entered Thursday night’s game against the Royals with 14 homers in May, which was two off Mantle’s American League record for home runs in the month.
