BSU looks pretty lifeless so far against UAH. Halfway thru the 2nd and we're scoreless. A win tonight should at least lock up a spot in the playoffs. It appears we have about a 90% chance of finishing 6th in the conference. I'm figuring 3 or 4 points this weekend and 0 or 1 point next weekend at Mankato.

1-1 with two minutes left. We have completely dominated the 3rd period. I think we've outshot them 30-20 in the game so far. The UAH goalie has made some sweet saves. A win would be great, but a tie is fine as long as we win or tie tomorrow. We're pretty assured of 6th as long as we don't get swept by UAH.

That was one hell of an OT! Both teams with numerous chances. Bitzer came up huge on a penalty shot. Wow. College hockey is great. Ends in a tie. Get the win tomorrow and I'm happy.

Helluva battle in CloudTown last night.
Melancholy end to some special senior seasons there.
They've transformed that program.
Motzko has revitalized the program and his own career.
Good on him.
Joey Benik is a shining example of what you can accomplish, if you block out the noise.

Oh boy. BSU was outshot by Mankato 46-13 last night. Embarrassing. Inexplicable. Bitzer was pulled in the first period. He gave up 3 goals on 11 shots. Happy I didn't see that one. We're stumbling to the finish.

Fortunately Lake Superior State lost last night, so we are still holding onto 6th. If BSU loses tonight and LSSU wins tonight, there will be a tie for 6th. Not sure if we have the tiebreaker over them. Drew?

I'm thinking LSSU may have the tiebreaker because they were 2-1-1 vs Bemidji this season. [X(]

Unfortunately, looks like it doesn't matter much. If we play like this we're going to get ripped by either Tech or Bowling Green. 46-13 on shots? I haven't seen that for the Beavers in a long, long time.

According to the WCHA official site, we are 2 points up on LSSU.

This is crunch-time. And we're coming up big so far. Up 1-0 at the end of the 2nd against Mankato. We need this game, or at least a tie, because it appears LSSU is on the verge of a win tonight. LSSU leads Ferris State by a goal with only 4 minutes left.

Michigan Tech and Bowling Green are both tough matchups. We did play really well against Michigan Tech that one game. But that's a scary team. I think I'd rather face Bowling Green....they look like a slower team, at least in recent seasons. I believe we only played 2 games against Bowling Green this season. That's the matchup I would prefer. They are less familiar with us and seem like a better matchup. We're big underdogs either way, but crazier things have happened. We have a very good chance of beating #14 Mankato tonight. And we recently beat Michigan Tech when they were #14.

LSSU won. We're now tied with them. BSU hanging on to a 1-0 lead with 18 minutes left. Good thing this game isn't televised here....I don't think I could take it. We need a tie or win to finish in 6th and get Bowling Green. If we lose, I'm pretty sure we get Michigan Tech.

Almost as importantly, we will have the shame of finishing behind Lake Superior State in the WCHA. Wouldn't have imagined that to be possible.

What a storybook ending to the WCHA regular season. One game left in the season. Alaska vs. Alaska-Anchorage. They are tied for 8th place. Loser is out. Winner goes to the playoffs. Game starts soon. Wish I could watch it. Pretty crazy it worked out like this.

Mankato celebrated the WCHA regular season championship last night. Can you say premature celebration? Michigan Tech wins tonight to tie for 1st, and I think they have the tie-breaker over Mankato, so Tech is the #1 seed.

The more I think about it, I wonder if this was an intentional loss by Mankato? Now they get Lake Superior State in the playoffs. I think I'd rather play them than either of the Alaska teams.

Wow, what a crazy game. We get killed one night where Bitzer gets pulled, and then the next night win 1-0 with Bitzer stopping 38 shots. At worst, we will finish this season with a .500 record.

Onto the playoffs! Let's pull some upsets and get to the final 5!
