Man I'd hate to have to be the one to roof-rake that damn thing.

They never have snow collect on roofs in Marshall because it is the windiest place on the earth due to the Ridge, Buffalo Ridge.

More proof that roofing is a yearly project.
Gotta stay on top of it.
No matter how much crap you catch for doing so .....

Well, if you layer the shingles starting from the downside of the roof and work your way up rather than the SMF approach of beginning at the top and layering on the way down, maybe your roof would last more than one year.
[:D]

Oh, the crap just keeps on coming.[;)]

Whaaa?
You layer according to wind direction, duh ....

I can't disagree more on the roof. Ya, sure I like outdoor football too. But from a logistics/longterm standpoint you almost have to have a roof. Seriously, you're talking about a max of 13 days a year where the Vikings have home games, including preseason. There are a LOT of other events/uses for the stadium than that. I'd rather "lose the outdoors" and have Final 4's, world championships, a Super Bowl, concerts, etc. there than worry about those 13 days. Besides, I believe the statistic was that for Indianapolis (Lucas Oil, which is a really nice stadium; I'll be there Saturday for the combine) they've had their roof open for 9 football games in 5 years. Something like that. And that's Indianapolis, not Minneapolis. Again, I like outdoor football. But there are a lot of other considerations. I think it'd be a major mistake had they gone WITHOUT a roof.

For the Twins, I'm the polar opposite. Baseball is not meant to be played in a dome, ever. Couldn't be happier or prouder of Target Field. Beautiful ballpark, one of the best in the game.

I'm a traditionalist. I would have thought there would be more of us left in this state. Thirty years indoors and we forget. Outdoors was our heritage. The frosty breath. The muddy uniforms. That was our mystique. That playoff game against Seattle was a beautiful thing. I don't care about super bowls and final fours. We should have moved back outdoors. And I'm really surprised there wasn't a citizen movement pushing for this . But like I said, 30 years is a long time. An entire generation of fans grew up with indoor football not knowing anything different.

I still think the proper thing to do would have been to leave the Metrodome standing for indoor events. Obviously it wouldn't attract final 4's and super bowls, but like I said, I don't care. It would have still gotten major usage. And the Vikings and Gophers should have shared an open air stadium.

Lucky you. I have been wanting to go since forever. Not easy getting in.

I will expect some first-hand accounts of players that impressed.

The Metrodome was a dump. It would barely attract rodeos and tractor pull and monster truck rallies.

It would not have gotten the major usage you suggest ever again.

I agree the Vikings and Gophers should have shared a facility.

But I'm ok with the two stadiums now.

Attracting Major events like final fours, and Superbowls is HUGE economically for a community. There was no way this building wasn't having a roof if public financing was gioing to be involved and there was no way that the Wilfs were ever going to build it entirely on their own dime.

Since the people of Marshall are so full of hot air, layering according to wind direction (as opposed to gravity) might be the best way. The only town in MN which is self sufficient for energy.....their hot air moves those turbines on the ridge and generates their electricity. [;)]

Again, I'm with you. I love football that way too. And I loved the Seattle game, etc. But when the public is putting up half a billion dollars for a stadium, or more, plus PSL's, etc. you damn sure have to consider things beyond those (MAX) 13 days a year there. Minneapolis would NEVER get a SuperBowl without a roof, ever. They are getting one for sure with the new stadium. That alone is worth $300M plus to the city. Those things matter, a lot. As they should. Ya, I wish they played outdoors too in a perfect world. But it would have been monumentally stupid to build an open air stadium in today's age IMO. Again, for 13 days/year of football.

Thanks Pete. Ya, a few of us won tix, and Indy's "relatively" close to Nashville, so we're going. Should be fun. Will give a report. I'm hoping we get to see the Eisen run. [&:][&:]

Stacey King -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (3/5/2016 1:12:33 PM)

Vikings re-signed S Andrew Sendejo to a four-year, $16 million contract.
Sendejo was scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent. The Vikings have been crystal clear in their desire to find a top-end starter next to Harrison Smith, and it did not appear they viewed Sendejo as that guy. $4 million annually is starter-level money, however, suggesting Sendejo has the inside track to open 2016 as the starter. This move all but assures impending free agent S Robert Blanton will be playing elsewhere next season. Sendejo has been with the Vikings since 2011.

Black 47 -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (3/5/2016 3:18:14 PM)

Hear incentives high on Sendejo's new deal. In other words, they can still pursue a safety. Sendejo good backup plan if miss out. #vikings

Sendejo sucks ass. There was absolutely NO reason to resign him no matter how incentive laden the deal. If they kept a stat for whiffing on a tackle where the ball carrier was standing still, he would lead the league.

Don't throw cap money at some WR.

Draft someone. Better to throw the cap $$ at an OL or 2.

WRs are not common success stories in FA.

David Levine -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (3/8/2016 9:16:19 PM)

Goessling:

MINNEAPOLIS -- The reported terms for safety Andrew Sendejo’s new deal with the Minnesota Vikings -- up to $16 million over four years -- triggered some derision when word of the contract first surfaced on Saturday. The structure of the contract, though, reveals a more modest deal that could still give the Vikings some room to pursue an impact safety next to Harrison Smith.

Sendejo will get $2.5 million guaranteed as part of the four-year deal, and make a total of $4 million in 2016. He will earn $7 million in the first two years of the deal, and would only approach the $16 million total by hitting a series of incentives. In other words, the Vikings could move on from Sendejo after a year, with little or no financial harm, or maintain some leverage to restructure the deal. It's probably more than Sendejo was going to get on the open market, but he's been a valuable special teams contributor whose stock seemed to rise somewhat with the Vikings in 2015. Resigning him assures the team of having an experienced safety next to Smith, in the event the Vikings don't bring in another player or find a solid option in a draft that's thought to be thin at the position.

Andrew Sendejo's contract can basically be a one-year deal if the #Vikings want it to be. $1 million guaranteed for injury only in 2017.
