I prefer to avoid using "Dinner" unless it's a special event. The problem with Dinner is it isn't time specific. Some use it for Lunch time meal and others use it for Supper time meal.

It's Breakfast, Lunch, Supper at our house unless you are coming for Thanksgiving Dinner or some special event like that. And with that you have to specifiy what time Dinner is.

I'm pretty much with you on your definitions. But I don't really like the word dinner...for a couple different reasons. It's confusing. See, you used Dinner at lunch time. Miles uses Dinner at supper time. Cut dinner out, call lunch lunch, call supper supper, and it's clear as day.

I'm with you on dinner. My wife uses it if we are making a "dinner" reservation. I try to not use it at all. But at least when she says dinner, I know a reservation is most likely in mind.
